Holy Trinity Washington HARP 2016

Donate a Chair in memory of, or in thanksgiving for, loved ones

This is an opportunity to further contribute to the biggest refurbishment at Holy Trinity for a generation but also to have a meaningful memorial of loved ones in the church. The PCC thinks and hopes that a good number of people might like to donate one or more of our new nave chairs in memory of loved ones who have died or in thanksgiving for loved ones who are living.

Each donated chair will have a plaque on the back with these words: To the Glory of God & in loving memory of Homer & Marge Simpson

To the Glory of God & in thanksgiving for Bart, Lisa & Maggie

There will be 140 chairs available and the minimum donation for each chair will be £100. There will be no limit on the number of chairs any one individual, or family, can donate and we will handle this on a first come basis. At the end of June, if there are still chairs left unsponsored, we will be writing to families who have been bereaved in the last 2 or 3 years inviting them to donate a chair if they would like to. So if you think you would like to do this please act quickly.

Your donation can be submitted with your sponsor form, and this would make life easier for the PCC, but if that is difficult you are welcome to spread the donation over 10 months (by Standing Order). Those making donations will need to be aware that the chair won’t belong to them – this is a donation – and that we can’t guarantee the chair will be where you sit, or that it won’t sometimes be moved to a different position. But it will be in church, it will be special, and it will be a lovely memorial or thanksgiving to your loved ones. There is also an opportunity to donate one or both of the new “modesty panels” which will sit in front of the chairs at the front of the nave. The minimum donation for each panel will be £1000 and, of course, a memorial/thanksgiving plaque can be placed on the panel which will be a little larger than the plaques on the chairs.

How do I donate? If you would like to donate a chair(s), or a modesty panel, please fill in the form and return it with your donation (or a Standing Order Form if you want to spread your donation) to Claire Hindmarch, The Parish Office, Holy Trinity Church, The Avenue, Washington, NE38 7NU (there will also be a collection box under the notice boards in church). If you pay tax and have not yet filled in a Gift Aid form please also complete the form so that the church can reclaim the tax on your donation. This will boost your donation by 25%! Thank you Thank you for taking the time to read this leaflet. The PCC will be enormously grateful for all donations received and is very appreciative of people’s generosity and thoughtfulness. If you have any questions please speak to David Wood or Terry Evans who will be able to help you.
