Hello  Fall!   Welcome  to  another  great  year!    I  am  excited  to  see  what  this  year  has  to   offer  us  here  in  W est  Michigan.      Be  sure  to  check  out  all  of  the  great  activities   that  we  have  planned  during  the  month  of  October  and  start  planning  for  our   Annual  Holiday  Party  on  December  4,  at  7PM.      More  d etails  w ill  follow  in   November  but  I  wanted  to  post  the  date  now  as  I  know  how  quickly   schedules  get  filled  during  the  busy  Holiday  Season!       Interested  in  having  your  business  card  added  to  o ur  Directory?    Send  a  copy   to  us  at  [email protected]  or  drop  one  in  the  mail.    Our   Business  Directory  will  start  up  again  w ith  November’s  newsletter  so  be  sure   to  get  those  cards  in  ASAP  if  you  w ant  to  be  included!  

 

Coffee  Social   Courtyard  Bistro   Monday,  Oct.  17  @  7:30PM   New  to  town  or  looking  to  make  connections?     Join  us  for  a  relaxing  evening  where  you  can  make  new  friends  and  learn   more  about  HAN  membership  and  activities.  W e  meet  the  third  Monday  o f   every  month  for  our  Coffee  Night  at  the  Courtyard  Bistro  (located  on  the  first   floor  of  the  new  Downtown  Marriott)  121  East  8th  St.,  Holland,  MI  49423.     Current  members  are  always  there  to  welcome  you  and  to  answer  your   questions.  Please  feel  free  to  contact  us  at   [email protected]  with  questions.

This  monthly  event  is  always  a  great  time!    Come  join  us  for   a  chance  to  relax  and  socialize  over  a  delicious  lunch  at  one   of  our  many  local  restaurants.  

    Ladies’  Night  Out  meets  quarterly  and  we  have  two  events   planned  for  early  in  December.    Keep  an  eye  out  for  more   information  regarding  our  Annual  W reath  Making  Night   and  the  always  popular  (&  always  d elicious)  Cookie   Exchange!

Friday,  Oct.  28  @  6:30PM   We  are  traveling  north  to  the  Pipeline  (Formerly  the   Alaskan  Pipeline)  o n  US  31  north  of  Port  Sheldon  Road  in   West  Olive.    The  restaurant  has  been  totally  remodeled   and  the  barbecue  is  unbelievable.     We  will  have  our  regular  start  time  of  6:30  pm  on  Friday,   October  28,  with  cocktails  and  then  we  will  order  dinner   at  7  pm.    Everyone  w ill  order  offer  the  menu  and   individual  checks.     I  hope  that  some  of  you  that  have  not  been  able  to  attend   on  weekdays  will  join  us.     Please  RSVP  to  [email protected]  as  w e   need  an  accurate  head  count  for  our  reservation.    

Join us in November when we head to Grand Haven to Chocolates by Grimaldi for a fun factory tour! Learn about chocolate from pod to bean to delicious chocolate! We will have a chance to taste fresh samples right off the line and visit their production area to see where the magic is done. We will also be able to check out their 1950s enrober just like on I Love Lucy! Come see where Grand Haven, Michigan gets its unique chocolates. Cost is only $4 per person. Book  Discussion   Orphan  Train   Tuesday,  Oct.  25  @  7:30PM   Our  always  popular  Book  Discussion  group  usually  meets  the     4th  Tuesday  of  every  month  at  7 :30PM.    We  participate  in  the   Herrick  District  Library’s  Book  Group  to  Go  so  no  need  to  purchase   (or  track  down!)  each  month’s  literary  selection.       Our  next  meeting  w ill  be  October  25  at  7:30PM  at  the  home  of   Christa  S.    We  will  be  reading  Orphan  Train  by  Christina  Baker   Kline.     If  you  are  interested  in  becoming  a  part  of  this  vibrant  group,  please   email  Stephanie  at  [email protected].  

Moms  &  Tots   Play  ‘n  Learn  Literacy  Group   Monday,  Oct.  24  @  6PM   Designed  for  families  with  children  ages  0  -­‐  5.  Monthly  sessions  are  based  on   children's  books.  Along  with  a  story,  finger  plays,  crafts,  activities  and  a  snack   centered  around  the  book  are  included.  Each  family  receives  a  children's  book  to   take  home.  Child  development  and  reading  readiness  information  is  also   available  for  parents.      Herrick  District  Library  (300  S.  River  Ave.    Holland,  MI   49423)  www.oaisd.org/oaisd/departments/earlychildhood/playgroups/     RSVP  to  [email protected]  by  October  23  so  we  know  w ho   to  look  for.
