Thanks for Making Hiawatha Homes the Best We Can Be! It is heartwarming to reflect on 2015 and reminisce about the accomplishments you have helped make possible. e on-going support you have given Hiawatha Homes through volunteer hours and financial gifts continues to touch the lives of many. You, our family and friends helped us build two accessible homes, the Pinewood Home and the Harvestview Home. You helped us remodel the entire Bearwood Home bathroom from floor to ceiling which provided a safer and more efficient space for all who live there to use and enjoy. Grants from community service clubs and area agencies have allowed our Hiawatha Homes Accessibility and Technology Committee to be able to purchase iPads, tablets, and software applications for the individuals we support to use and try. is allows each person and their technology needs to be accurately assessed to assure the right tools are purchased for each person. e laughter and joy that fills the backyard when many are enjoying the accessible playground is priceless. Your gifts turned the backyard into a fun filled area where both young and old can feel safe and secure as they swing, teeter totter, play games, and climb through the playground equipment. Meeting the health and safety needs of both the people we support and our Hiawatha Homes Employees is a top priority for us. Your generosity allowed us to purchase “tomi turns” for our staff to use to safely assist individuals in their bedrooms. You assisted us with converting an everyday van into a gateway for many to access their community. rough the community block grant, much needed cement work was completed at our Hiawatha Homes Activity Center which has allowed for a wider and safer entrance into both the front and back entrance of the building. We continue to be extremely blessed and humbled by the community support that we receive to help make Hiawatha Homes the best we can be. I am looking forward to another great year in 2016 as we celebrate the 40th Birthday of the mission and vision of Hiawatha Homes. Sincerely,

Cindy S. Ostrowski, CEO Hiawatha Homes Foundation

Do you remember the thrill of going down the slide? Do you remember trying to reach the clouds while swinging? Did you know that YOUR gifts created those same life long memories for Hiawatha Homes? At Hiawatha Homes we had a dream to build a safe and inclusive playground for our Family Support Services program. Many of the children Hiawatha supports have physical and developmental disabilities, specialized medical needs, autism spectrum disorder, and emotional and

behavioral health needs. With YOUR help we created an area where children of all abilities can play together. This inspirational space encourages natural play and provides opportunities to share, explore, learn, be creative, and build friendships. Thank YOU for “playing” with us!

Thank You! 2
