Our franchise research would be based exclusively on the actual experiences and successes of franchise owners – the real franchise experts. In January (our five year anniversary) we passed a major milestone – successfully surveying our 500th franchise system. The franchises we have surveyed over the last five years, represent over 100,000 independent business owners from all walks of life. Many are just starting out as franchise owners, while others have built “franchise empires” with dozens and even hundreds of business locations. All of these franchise owners, regardless of their size, share one common goal – to be successful entrepreneurs.

While everyone has their own definition of success, we know that not all franchises are created equal. With thousands of franchise opportunities to choose from, many of the choices are simply average or below average investment opportunities. Survey Methodology Over the last five years, FBR has surveyed more than 100,000 franchisees from over 500 of today’s leading franchise brands. When we survey a franchise company, all active franchise owners that have been in business for 3 months or longer are invited to participate in this survey process. FBR contacts each franchisee individually and supplies them with a unique login to complete the survey. We make at least three attempts to reach each franchise owner directly by email and/or by telephone. We average a 70% participation rate from franchise owners. Our standard franchisee satisfaction survey includes 40 benchmark questions. The first 20 questions relate directly to the franchise owner’s experience and satisfaction. The remaining 20 questions are focused on market area, business lifestyle and other demographic questions. Each franchisee has the option to complete the survey anonymously yet over 60% will typically share their identity. Each of the franchise opportunities listed in this guide have above average franchisee satisfaction. While franchisee satisfaction is clearly not the only factor to consider when researching franchises (see page 10 for other key factors), it is one of the most important factors in our opinion.
