Fume extraction systems and products Advantages and disadvantages in high vacuum systems: •Systems with incorporated guns or suction nozzles fixed to the welding gun, has the advantage that the extraction always is effective. There is no need to move nozzles or swing arm.

•Mobile nozzles for high vacuum systems has the advantage of being effective as long as they are used in a correct manner and placed as close to the welding spot as possible.

•The disadvantage is that an incorporated gun or a fixed nozzle can mean some extra weight, which can be hard to accept for many users. This is often unfounded and a matter of habit.

•Separate nozzles have the disadvantage of having to be physically moved to obtain effective extraction.

•A high vacuum system also has the advantage that it can be used as a multifunctional system. This means that the various extraction and cleaning tasks can be involved simultaneously. Examples of such tasks are extraction for welding, grinding, vacuuming, cleaning in general etc.

Advantages and disadvantages in low vacuum systems: •Low vacuum systems are suitable if the work process takes place in a limited space, for instance in a welding booth or on a permanent workstation.

•Low vacuum systems have some limitations and disadvantages concerning flexibility and running cost. Because of the great amount of air withdrawn, air has to be replaced and in many cases reheated. This will often cause high running costs. •The right placing of a suction hood is crucial to obtain effective extraction and remove pollution from the breathing zone.

Middle vacuum systems: Middle vacuum is usually applied in processes where the need for large amounts of air is combined with filtration. This can for instance apply to the following prosesses: •Installations where several swing arms are connected to a joint system where filtration of the air is necessary. •Extraction from cutting tables where the system includes long pipelines as well as filtration of the extracted air. •Extraction from processes where big hoods are being used. For example from welding robots or machines where suction nozzles cannot be applied. •Extraction from sand blasting halls. •Push/pull system for ventilation of industrial halls. •Extraction from casting ovens or similar processes. •Industrial filtration systems.

•Captures the pollution where it is created. •Avoid polluting the breathing zone. •Removes dust and particles from for example sanding and grinding. •Vacuum cleaning (Dry and wet). •Dust extraction from industrial processes. •Low investment costs. •Low running costs. •Usually no need to increase the general ventilation. Well balanced systems are only mildly affected. This means reduced investment costs. •Usually not necessary with extra energy to heat/cool supplied air. This reduces investment and running costs. •Hundreds of metres of pipeline can be installed. •Up to 55 metres from each distribution point. •Small duct dimensions (ø50-ø250 mm) save space and investment costs. •Easily manoeuvred hoses and nozzles.

fume extraction portable units High vacuum or low vacuum is used for welding fume and dust extraction. High vacuum removes the pollution close to the welding point helped by only small amounts of air. This gives a great advantage when it comes to energy consumption. In addition, the units can be applied to other operations, such as dust extraction, vacuuming, water vacuuming, etc. The low vacuum products are used when pollution is to be removed from larger areas. They are also suitable for other operations such as fume extraction from gluing, handling chemicals etc.
