The RLC vs. The RCC The Recovery Learning Community (RLC) is the people. The Metro Suburban RLC is wherever two or more individuals from our Community are! The Resource Connection Center (RCC) is the place. The Metro Suburban RLC has two RCCs - Framingham and Quincy - where you can attend meetings and activities, find resources, give and receive support, and connect with fellow Community members.

Framingham-Area Meeting and Activity Descriptions Coffee & Conversation: An open topic meeting, which is light yet supportive over a cup of Joe. Community Forum: The “C” in RLC stands for Community. Everyone is invited to this Community Forum to dialog on the building blocks of Community. Hearing Voices Peer Support Meeting: A supportive meeting for those who hear voices or experience other unusual sensory experiences. Open Community Time: An opportunity for members to gather, share information, resources, and support, and connect with fellow Community members. Open Computers: Browse the internet, check your e-mail, type a letter! Some assistance provided. Peer Facilitator Support Meeting: This monthly meeting is our main forum for supporting each other , and sharing concerns, goals, and successes. Peer Support Meetings: A comfortable meeting where individuals with lived experience share mutuality, connection, and support. Recovery from Addictions Peer Support Meeting: A meeting that focuses on addressing the whole person in recovery for individuals who have had experience with any form of addictions. Recovering Work: Strategies for returning to work and maintaining employment as part of ongoing recovery. Thursday Afternoon Movie: Join us on a Thursday afternoon each month for a movie showing! Womens Support Meeting: A meeting for women sharing their challenges and successes in recovery.

Quincy-Area Meeting and Activity Descriptions Advisory Council Meeting: Come for an update on happenings, as well as general discussion of how we will continue moving forward as a community! All Community members are encouraged to attend - we need your voice and your energy to be strong and truly representative! Affirmative Meditation: Come learn and experience the benefits of meditation! Each meeting begins and ends with a life-affirming affirmation and includes alpha relaxation system sounds, designed to soothe your body, calm your mind, and enhance your health. Meditation practices will be shared and practiced. Alternatives to Suicide Peer Support Meeting: Join us for an opportunity to give voice to suicidal thoughts, find support, develop strategies, and help one another cope with difficult life circumstances in a confidential and non-judgmental environment. Artisan's Quilting, Sewing, and Knitting Circle: Join us for this new meeting, beginning Tuesdays in October! Brush up on craft skillS or learn a new one, while making friends and receiving support! Some materials will be provided, but you may also bring your own. Building Community: Building community sounds easy, but it actually requires effort. A healthy community heals. Come be part of the experience of developing a community of support and sharing. Come and see what and how we grow in community while staying rooted in recovery! How to Enjoy Nature: Join us for this interactive and mulit-sensory meeting around the joys and wonders of Mother Nature. Job Club: A 10-week member-run employment support meeting for people who are looking for or would like support around returning to work. Journal Writing for Wellness: In this meeting you will find and develop your own creative voice; experiment with writing and learn to release strong emotions; keep a record of how your life unfolds, and clarify personal goals. Leadership Access Forum: An opportunity to review the calendar, discuss upcoming events and ongoing projects, speak with committee chairs and project leaders, and find out how you can take initiative and get involved! Lunchtime Book Club: Have you read any good books lately? Are you looking for something new to read? Bring your lunch and join us for a discussion about books and authors! Music & Song: Activities vary weekly and include singing, listening to music, and playing different instruments! Nature Walks: Join us for walks through local scenic areas! Meeting facilitators also have lived experience. Personal Development: Ongoing personal and professional development - skills for your personal life and beyond! Plant Care: A monthly time to nourish our indoor garden. Budding and seasoned green thumbs welcomed! Positive Recovery and Mindfulness: Cultivate compassion and self-acceptance in a supportive environment. This meeting utilizes a mindfulness and strengthsbased approach to teach participants to use creative coping skills and personal strengths in recovery. Recovering Work: Strategies for returning to work and maintaining employment as part of ongoing recovery. Sharing Stories: Relate your personal journey of empowerment, growth, and recovery, while inspiring and encouraging others in theirs. Spiritual Realms: Join us for an exploration of the spiritual domains and experiences of our recovery journey. Computer Training: Whether you are a beginner learning the basics, or an experienced user hoping to learn new skills, this free training is for you! Preregistration is required. MSRLC Strategic Planning Projects The Community identified several areas of interest and urgency in the initial stage of the Strategic Planning process. Each area represents a Community project. To succeed, projects require member involvement and initiative! Projects currently being worked on include: Community Building: This project will involve planning training, events, and activities that promote Community cohesion. Employment-Related Programming: This project will involve developing in-house employment training and support for those seeking or returning to work. Funding: This project will involve identifying funding sources and raising capital to support current and future programming throughout the MSRLC region. In House Tasks: This project will involve work on volunteerism, communication, and membership development within the Community. Legislative Advocacy: This project will involve planning civic engagement and legislative education activities. Newsletter: This project will involve the production and distribution of the MSRLC newsletter. Organization Materials: This project will involve revising and updating MSRLC organizational handouts and materials. Partial Hospital Program Outreach: This project will involve researching and reaching out to local hospitals with partial programs to offer peer support and promote the MSRLC. Programming: This project will involve monitoring current and developing plans for new meetings, trainings, and other programming across the MSRLC region. Regional Outreach: This project will involve developing and implementing an outreach plan. Space Utilization: This project will involve reviewing and making recommendations regarding the use of space. Speakers Bureau: This project will involve the development of a speakers bureau to provide presentations and trainings to outside groups and organizations. Workforce Development: This project will involve developing peer education training curricular. You are invited to get involved! Check the calendar for project meeting dates and times! Other projects are looking for chairs/co-chairs, as well as individuals to help out with completing tasks. These include: Multiculturalism: This project will involve creating a welcoming and diverse environment with the MSRLC Community. Emergency Room Support: This project will involve working with local emergency rooms to provide peer support and advocacy in emergency room settings. Hospital to Community Support: This project will involve working with local hospitals to provide inpatient and post-inpatient support. One to One Support & Navigation: This project will involve developing and implementing a for providing one to one peer support and navigation. Technology: This project will involve developing and implementing a technology plan. Transportation: This project will involve the evaluation and improvement of contracted transportation services. News and Events Closed for President's Day The Framingham and Quincy Resource Connection Centers (RCCs) will be closed all day on Monday, February 17th, in observance of President's Day. Meetings and activities sponsored by the MSRLC in the community will also be canceled that day. The Framingham and Quincy RCCs will reopen on Tuesday, February 18th, and community activities will resume as scheduled.

The Metro Suburban Recovery Learning Community (MSRLC) is a peer-run organization promoting trauma-informed peer support, advocacy, education, and training opportunities for individuals who have lived experience with a mental illness, trauma, or extreme emotional states. As a community we take a proactive approach toward fighting stigma and developing a culture which supports recovery, resiliency, and self-empowerment. Within our community people find friendship, share recovery experiences, recognize and utilize talents and skills, and learn new skills. The MSRLC is part of a statewide network of six RLC's. Our community includes the 60 towns and cities surrounding Boston. Activities take place within our Quincy and Framingham Resource Connection Centers, as well as throughout the Metro Suburban area. No membership fees or referrals are necessary; anyone who considers themselves a peer is welcome.
