EVENTS JULY 5 July LEETON FARMERS MARKET Markets are held on the first Saturday morning of the month at the Leeton Jockey Club from 8:00am to 12:00pm. Entry is via gold coin donation to the Rotary Club of Leeton. There will always be a diverse range of fresh high-quality produce available directly from the growers and producers. Contact: Leeton Shire Council (02) 6953 0911 10 July NAIDOC WEEK CELEBRATIONS – LEETON & DISTRICT LOCAL ABORIGINAL LAND COUNCIL FAMILY FUN DAY Held at Gossamer Park Wattle Hill from 11am-2:00pm. The activities will begin with the Official Ceremony followed by a FREE BBQ lunch. Bring a chair or picnic rug and enjoy the day out. There will be stalls and activities throughout the day. AUGUST 31 July - 22 August CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES LEETON EISTEDDFOD Recognized as one of the outstanding cultural events in south western NSW. Held over 4 weeks in August, this event showcases local and regional talent in a range of dance, theatre, music, speech, drama and literary and includes a spectacular concert at its conclusion. CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2-4 August LEETON BANK HOLIDAY BOWLS CARNIVAL This annual carnival is held over three days at both the Leeton Soldiers Club and the L&D Bowling Club. Bowlers compete for cash prizes. 9.15am start each day. Saturday and Sunday is triples. Monday is pairs. Contact: Adrian VanWerven (02) 6953 5500 (BH) 27 September VISITOR INFORMATION CENTRE RED CARPET DAY“ROLL OUT THE RED CARPET FOR TASTE RIVERINA” Leeton Visitor Information Centre (VIC) will be hosting its second Red Carpet Open Day for 2014 during the school holiday period. We are encouraging locals and visitors to literally walk the “Red Carpet” in style as we showcase our local VIC, and not to mention, our talented local people. Some of the exciting activities planned for the Red Carpet Day include product tastings and talks from local hobby interest suppliers, live entertainment, local artists painting onsite, give-away competitions and prizes throughout the day. This event will also double as a launch to the 2014 Taste Riverina Food Festival, with local chefs and winemakers putting their finest product on show throughout the course of the day as well as promoting their respective “Taste Riverina” events taking place right here in Leeton throughout the month of October. S AV E T H E D A T E 10th - 11th October LEETON AGRICULTURAL SHOW The annual 2014 Leeton Show will showcase the Shire in a display of agriculture, entertainment and local achievements. Pavilions at the Leeton Showground’s will be filled with displays such as arts, crafts and flower exhibitions, school displays and cooking exhibits. Carriage driving, mini trots, and team yarding along with Stockman’s Challenge make for great fun for both children and adults alike. There will be plenty of rides for all ages along with the spectacular fireworks display and entertaining side-show alley, Showgirl presentations along with the official opening will take place on the Friday night of the event. Held at the Platform Lounge over three fantastic days. Meals and snacks available as well as a dance floor and full bar service. Free un-powered camping with toilets & showers also available. The weekend features the Friday Dance Night and the Sunday Poets Breakfast with. Tickets for Saturday and Sunday sessions are $35.00 per person. Dance Night & Poets Breakfast tickets are $10.00 each. 7th - 9th November - LEETON TOWN BAND OUTBACK BAND SPECTACULAR A great festive, musical weekend for the whole family including band performances and sub-group performances at various locations around Leeton, together with music workshops over the weekend. All musicians will then come together for a spectacular ‘Mass Band’ performance on Saturday evening at The Roxy. Sunday 4th will see Mountford Park come alive once again with ‘Brass in the Park’! Children’s entertainment, hot food and drinks available. Santa and friends arrive signaling the start of the concert featuring all local schools and groups. A large variety of stalls will cater for the whole family.
