Introduction

Extended Data Engine (EDE) is a multiprotocol software application. It allows creating multiple connectivity with the most common used protocols both serial and over IP. EDE normalizes all the data coming from the different protocols, in an internal database. This approach allows the data manipulation and bridging, between protocols and media. Extended Data Engine can manage the following protocols: 

Modbus RTU (Master and Slave)

Modbus IP (Client and Server)

N2 System91 and N2 Open (Master and Slave)

M-Bus (Master)

M-Bus IP (Master)

BACnet IP (Client and Server)

OPC (Client and Server)

SNMP (Polling using GET and Traps Receive])

SOAP WebServices (Server)

REST WebServices (Server)

management

[Send

and

Each of these protocols can be linked to any other available, making EDE acting as gateway.

Extended Data Engine can manage communication with Modbus devices through: 

Local COM port using RS232/RS485 converter

Modbus IP communication

TCP/IP tunneling using Lantronix UDS-10/USD-100/USD-1100 device server (Serial to Ethernet)

Extended Data Engine can manage communication with N2 compatible (System 91 and N2Open) controllers, through: 

Local COM port using RS232/RS485 converter

System 91 compatible devices: 

DC9100 / LCP

DR9100

TC9100 / TC9102 / TC9100 / SC9100

XTM9100

N2Open compatible devices: 

MIG

VND

FX-Controllers

FEC/FAC

N2B compatible devices: 

M-Bus Functionalities

VMA

Extended Data Engine can manage communication directly with M-Bus devices through: 

local COM port using RS232/M-Bus Level converter.

BACnet Server Functionalities

Extended Data Engine can act as a BACnet Server. It supports BACnet data access, alarm, and event operation. Acting as BACnet server, Extended Data Engine supplies, via BACnet, all the integrated data via different protocols. EDE supports BACnet Version 1.5. and profile BBC. The following standard BACnet objects are supported: 

Device

Analog Input

Analog Output

Analog Value

Binary Input

Binary Output

Binary Value

Notification Class

The following functions are supported: 

BACnet Broadcast Management

Foreign Device Registration

BACnet Client Functionalities

Extended Data Engine can act as BACnet client, integrating, in its database, values coming from any BACnet device on the same IP network. It works on property level and it supports any numeric BACnet property. It supports BACnet data access and COV operations. Using combination of the protocols Extended Data Engine allows “converting” BACnet data, for example, in Modbus.

OPC Server Functionalities

Extended Data Engine can supply all the data, in its internal database via OPC Server. It acts as OPC Server Data Access and OPC Server Alarms & events.

OPC Client Functionalities

Extended Data Engine can act as OPC DA client, reading and writing numeric values from OPC Server DA 1.x and 2.x.

SNMP Functionalities

Extended Data Engine can get data from devices, on IP network, supplying data via SNMP protocol, supporting GET and SET commands. This application is a standard in IT environments.

Extended Data Engine 5 of 8

Additional Functions Web Services Functionalities

Extended Data Engine can supply all the data, in its internal database via Web Services (SOAP and REST). This application is used to supply a standard and modern way to exchange data.

Trending Functionalities

Extended Data Engine supplies the possibly of creating local trends on the points in its internal database. The stored data can be retrieved via Web Services.
