Benford Ltd is formed by James Bennet and Harry Langford producing small concrete mixers in Warwick.

The heritage of the Terex® backhoe loader dates back to the MasseyHarris-Ferguson era of the 1950s and, in particular, commencement of production of the tractor digger shovel (the “Three in One’) in Manchester.

The 203/205 and 65S/65R backhoe loaders are introduced. These models were updated in 1965 with the creation of the 203/205Mk 2 and 3165S/3165R models. This year also saw the 220 backhoe with 5 position power – slide enter the market.

Major product improvements are made with the introduction of the 303/3305 models. The 250 loader incorporated a mechanical selflevelling bucket to reduce spillage during lifting and lowering. The new 252 sideshift backhoe incorporated the patented hydra-slide mechanism with hydraulic clamping.

1972 The legendary 50.B model is introduced featuring new safety cab and improved loader and backhoe performance This machine also included an automatic end of stroke cushioning feature in the backhoe boom cylinder.

1976 The Benford compaction range is launched featuring two models the 1-71 single drum roller and the 2-65 double drum roller (followed by the 2-75). Both machines are designed with “safety first”.

1981 The TT2500 dumper replaces the TT50S. The new TR100 is Benford’s first tandem vibrating roller.

1984

1992

MF Industrial Division introduces a power shuttle transmission. This transmission includes synchromesh gear shifting and softshift direction.

The Fermec Brand is created following the management buyout of MF Industrial. A year later sees the introduction of the series 90 range, which includes the 750, 860, 865 and 965 models.

MORE THAN 60 years of SITE dumper Product expertise 35 years experience in compaction Rollers

1996 Case Corporation buys Fermec in and the MF Industrial name is dropped from the product line in North America.

1997 The Fermec name is retained in the UK/Europe. The SP2000 range of self propelled rollers is launched.

1999 Terex purchase Benford and become “Benford – A Terex Company”.

2000 Terex Compact Equipment formed when Fermec International is purchased, and merged with Terex Benford.

Terex introduce the new “All Wheel Steer” dumpers – the most manoeuvrable dumpers on the market with an amazing 7.7 m turning circle and power swivel skips.

The TV roller range updates to new Kubota engines.

2009 In 2009, Terex® backhoe loaders, with a 50 year heritage, continue to offer customers worldwide an excellent return on their investment.
