CHECK-IN PROCEDURES for Blocking: Please bring your dancer to the back door of The Bankhead Theater. It is best to park in the parking garage and proceed to the check-in area. We will have balloons marking the entrance. CHECK-IN PROCEDURES for Dress Rehearsal and Performance Days: Dancers need to arrive at the times listed above. We will have check-in at two different locations. Dancers with last names starting with A - L will be signed-in at the back door of the Theater (same location as for blocking). Dancers with last names starting with M - Z will be signed-in at the door to the left of the theater when facing it from the back. You will sign-in your dancer and our parent helpers will take them to their dressing room. If you need to accompany your dancer to the dressing room, you will have to sign-in and then sign-out. Parents may stay backstage no longer than 10 minutes. We highly advise you say goodbye to your dancer at the check-in table. They will be well-taken care of and the backstage area gets very crowded and chaotic with extra personnel. If you need to come backstage for any reason, you MUST sign in. There are no exceptions. Every time any person enters or exits the Bankhead, they must sign in and out. There are no exceptions to this rule. If we do not have everyone accounted for, we risk losing our privilege of performing at the Bankhead in the future. CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES after Blocking Rehearsal: Please go to the same door where you dropped off your dancer to sign them out after Blocking Rehearsal. Dancers must be picked up as soon as their last dance has been rehearsed. CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES after Dress Rehearsal: There will be two locations for checking-out dancers after dress rehearsal. Dancers with last names starting with A - L will be signed-out from the back door of the Theater (same location as for sign-in). Dancers with last names starting with M - Z will be signed-out from the door to the left of the theater when facing it from the back. Dancers must take all costumes and personal items home with them after dress rehearsal.

CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES on Performance Days: Dancers may be excused directly INTO THE LOBBY through the door to the right of the stage so they can visit with family and friends. Dancers under age 12 will need a parent or an older LSOD sibling to come and check them out at that door. Dancers ages 12 and older may check themselves out into the lobby. They will need to be checked out with the security person stationed at that door. Once your dancer is finished visiting in the lobby, they MUST return to the backstage area through that same lobby door. Parents will NOT be allowed backstage through this door. ONLY adults with a Bankhead badge are allowed to go backstage through the lobby door. PLEASE do NOT try to “sneak in” to help your dancer. You MUST go outside to the back theater door and sign-in if you need to enter the backstage area. After leaving the lobby and returning backstage, dancers will need to collect all their costumes and personal items and check-out as follows: Dancers with last names starting with A - L will be signed-out from the back door of the Theater (same location as for signin). Dancers with last names starting with M - Z will be signed-out from the door to the left of the theater when facing it from the back. Please be sure your dancer knows that they should come to the check out area as soon as they are ready. We will not have enough helpers to “retrieve” dancers – we are asking parents to just wait in the check-out area until their dancer arrives in that area. Dancers who do not wish to visit the lobby may collect their personal items and then proceed to the appropriate sign-out location (A - L at back door; M - Z at side door). Please talk to your dancer and plan whether you will meet them in the lobby after the show or at the sign-out locations. Please be sure you go to the proper door for check-in and check-out. We will only have the designated lists at each location. If you go to the wrong door, you will be asked to go to the proper door, the door that contains your name on the list. There will be no exceptions to this - we cannot write in any names on the security lists so you must go where your name is. This is required to keep our dancers as secure as possible. We appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter. Please be patient and know that we will do everything possible to get your dancer to you as soon as possible after rehearsals and the performances. ACTIVITIES: Send your dancer with something to do while they wait to perform. Examples: cards, dolls, games, books. Pack a towel or small blanket for dancers to sit on.  DO NOT SEND MARKERS OR ANY OTHER ITEMS THAT CAN STAIN COSTUMES.  Food is allowed backstage, but PLEASE NO NUTS OF ANY KIND – we have dancers who are highly allergic. Also, all dancers are expected to clean up after themselves. DO NOT EAT IN YOUR COSTUMES.  PACK LIGHTLY. SPILLABLE, MESSY PRODUCTS WILL BE THROWN AWAY.

DVD’s may be purchased for $25 ($35 for Blu-ray) on the performance day. After the performance, DVD’s will be $35 ($45 for Blu-ray). You can go to the LSOD website (www.livermoredance.com) or go directly to www.dvdvideomem.com. DVDs will be shipped within 2 weeks of the show. There will be NO videotaping or photography of any kind allowed during the performances. Filming of the productions is prohibited by Livermore School of Dance and The Bankhead Theater. Patrons who are videotaping via camera, cell phone, etc. will be asked to leave the theater. It is unfair to other patrons to videotape and take pictures while they are trying to enjoy the show. More importantly, it is dangerous for the dancers. Please purchase a performance DVD so you have the lasting memory. COSTUMES: The rest of the costumes will arrive this week. Please have your dancer(s) try on their costume(s). All costumes should be hanging in a closet or a bathroom where steam from the shower can help the costumes relax. Make sure they fit properly. Many costumes require some hand sewing on the shoulder straps. HAIR/MAKE-UP/UNDERGARMENTS: All female dancers must wear light pink, footed tights (ballet pink) and pink canvas or leather ballet shoes. Velour slippers (like the ones sold at Target) are not acceptable. Ballet slippers and tights should be in good condition and look new. If you need to borrow a pair of shoes, look in the basket under the “Lost and Found” sign at LSOD. Female dancers of all ages may not wear underwear under their tights. All female dancers must have their hair tightly pulled back from their face in a bun. No loose pieces in curls, hair extensions, bun covers, etc. Bangs do not have to be pulled back if they are short enough to stay out of the dancer’s eyes. Hair should be in a tight bun at the middle of the back of the head unless specified otherwise. For most hair types, hair pins work much better than bobby pins for a bun. Short hair must be tucked behind the ears securely with bobby pins. Use lots of hairspray and gel! It is your choice whether you want your child to wear make-up or not. It is not a requirement. It is highly recommended that all dancers wear make-up. The stage lights, especially at The Bankhead, tend to wash out the dancers’ faces. Make-up should have an everyday look with a bit more added to reach the audience. For example: light colored lipstick, no dark, heavy eyeliner, no glitter or sparkle on the face, no excessive eye shadow, use foundation and blush on the cheekbones.

NAIL POLISH/JEWELRY: Dancers need to remove all nail and toe polish and all jewelry for performances. Small stud earrings are acceptable. MEDICATIONS: If you think your dancer will need medication during the show, please make sure they have it with them or that WE have whatever they can take in a Ziploc bag with their name on it. If you think they might need two Motrin, put just two Motrin in a baggie and leave it with us. FLOWERS: Many family members bring flowers to give to their dancers after the performances. FLOWERS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE BANKHEAD AUDITORIUM, so if you bring your own, you will have to leave them in the car and give them to your dancer in the lobby after the performances. VOLUNTEERS: We are in need of many volunteers to keep the dancers happy and prepared backstage. All dancers must have at least one family member volunteer to help with the performances. These shows cannot run as planned without your assistance and the dancers love having you help them! Once you have been assigned a “job”, please be sure to follow through with your “responsibilities”. Helping backstage unfortunately does not mean sitting with your dancer and only attending to their needs. STUDIO CLOSED: After the performances, LSOD will be open the week of June 24th for the week-long ballet camps. The studio will then be closed until summer classes resume on July 8th. On-line registration for summer classes is currently open. Payment for classes registered must be paid in full prior to the start of the summer session. Dancers will not be allowed to attend class until their balance is paid in full. Thank you for bringing your children to LSOD to dance with us! We love their energy, smiling faces, dedication, and desire to learn and love to dance. Have a delightful summer and hopefully, we will see you in the studio! -Shelly Schoendienst, Ballet Director
