Principal’s Message from Mrs. Herrera It’s hard to believe another school year is here! I hope everyone had a res ul summer and is looking forward to new opportunies. The website holds many important dates and informa on for parents and students. Please visit it regularly as it is our primary method of communica on. The Performing Arts Center construc on con nues and we hope to occupy the building in midFebruary, 2017. This 300seat facility will serve all of our high schools, our community groups, and help our students matriculate into the Allan Hancock Community College theater program. Student achievement con nues to

be the number one priority for PV. Tablets have been integrated in to classroom instruc on to help students gain the technological skills needed for today and the future. Freshmen will receive their tablets at the beginning of the school year.

Link Crew Orienta on will be Friday, August 5th from 8:00-1:00 for ninth graders. This amazing mentorship program connects freshmen with upperclassmen. Many fun ac vi es are planned and students will receive their schedules at the end of the day

about 12:30. This posi ve event is for students only. My expecta on is that all students will exemplify the traits of a true Panther as outlined on PRIDE posters displayed throughout campus. There are many ways parents can be involved at school—Boosters, ELAC, Site Council and SDM. Boosters The purpose of the Pioneer Valley High School Booster Club is to assist the school in promoting quality academic and athletic programs along with a broad range of campus activities and projects. The Booster Club is a non-profit organization and donations may be tax deductible. Mensaje de la Directora Sra. Herrera Es difícil de creer que otro año escolar ya está aquí! Espero que todos hayan tenido un verano tranquilo y estén a la espera de nuevas oportunidades. La página web tiene muchas fechas importantes e información para padres y estudiantes. Por favor, visítela regularmente, ya que es nuestro método primario de comunicación. La construcción del centro de artes escénicas continúa y esperamos ocupar el edificio a mediados de febrero de 2017. CAMPO CERRADO PÓLIZA PARA VISITANTES

PVHS es un campo cerrado entre 7 de la mañana y 4 de la tarde. Según la pólíza de la Mesa Educativa (AR 6116 y BP 1250), solamente visitantes predeterminados son permitidos entrar en el campo. Las actividades durante la hora de comer tanto como las asambleas son solamente para los alumnos. No se permite paso a los padres u otros visitantes quienes están de visita. No existe autorización para que los alumnos traigan a otros alumnos como visitantes. La administración tiene derecho a negarle la entrada a cualquier persona.

FAVOR DE NOTAR: Los estudiantes que tienen ausencias excesivas deberán presentar verificación escrita (notas) y no se permitirá hacer llamada telefónica o correo electrónico. Por políza del distrito, con 14 o más días de ausencias, solicitamos verificar cualquier ausencias futuras por enfermedad por un medico.

CÓDIGO DE VESTIDO

TARJETAS DE IDENTIFICACIÓN

Como está estipulado en el Código de Educación y/o Reglamentos del Distrito, los requisitos aplicados a todos los alumnos son: 1. Ningun vestuario incluyendo ropa, joyería, sombreros u objetos personales:  debe promover o anunciar el uso de drogas, alcohol o tabaco.  representar obscenidad o lascivia.  debe falte al respeto a alguna raza, religión o herencia.  debe tener afiliación con pandillas. 2. Los pies deben cubrirse y tener protegida la planta del pie. 3. El torso debe estar cubierto. La ropa interior debe estar cubierta siempre. Se prohíben las telas transparentes o tela de pescado, las blusas sin espalda o con tiras delgaditas (las tiras deben de ser de dos pulgadas de anchas), las blusas escotadas, blusas cortitas que no cubran la panza y las faldas o pantalones cortos (shorts) que no cubran la mitad del muslo. 4. Pijama y pantuflas no son ropa apropiada para la escuela.

Los alumnos necesitan tener siempre con ellos sus tarjetas de identificación. Tarjetas de identificación se utilizan para sacar los libros de texto, materiales de la biblioteca y las tabletas. Las tarjetas serán reemplazada con la recepcionista. La primera tarjeta es gratis; cada tarjeta costará $3 en la oficina de negocios.

SALIR DE LA ESCUELA DURANTE EL DIA

Los padres / tutores que necesitan llevar su estudiante de la escuela durante el día, deben estar preparados para mostrar su identificación en la oficina de asistencia . Sólo se permitirá que las personas que aparecen en la información de emergencia médica del estudiante para sacar el estudiante de la escuela. La escuela valora todos los esfuerzos realizados por los padres para programar citas fuera de la jornada escolar.

Alumnos pueden llevar teléfonos celulares pero serán confiscados si rompen el proceso educacional. Si un teléfono es confiscado del estudiante, un ACTIVIDADES PARA ESTUDIANTES EN 12MO padre o guardián tendrá que recogerlo con el Subdirector. Para ser elegible para participar en las actividades extra curriculares, el alumno debe mantener un promedio de calificaciones de 2.0 (GPA). La elegibilidad se determina cada período de seis semanas. Los alumnos que obtienen menos de 2.0 GPA deben esperar seis semanas hasta que vuelvan a ser elegibles.

ANNUAL NOTIFICATION – ASBESTOS INFORMATION In compliance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), in 1990 the district performed inspections of each school building for asbestos-containing building materials. The inspection findings and asbestos management plans have been on file in the maintenance director’s office as well as in each school maintenance office since that time. The EPA requires us to perform re-inspections of asbestos materials every three years. During November 2015, an accredited asbestos inspector performed these re-inspections. An accredited management planner reviewed the results of the re-inspections and recommended actions we should take to safely manage each asbestos material in our buildings. Significant abatement events occurred during the 2015/2016 school year: 1. Abated asbestos containing wall materials in the Santa Maria High School maintenance shop restrooms. The results of the re-inspection are on file in the management plan in the maintenance director’s office as well as in each school’s maintenance office [Code of Federal Regulations: 40 CFR 763.93]. NOTIFICACIÓN ANUAL - INFORMACIÓN DE ASBESTO Estimados padres/tutores y empleados del Distrito de Escolar Unificado de las Escuelas Preparatorias de Santa Maria: En cumplimiento con la Agencia de Protección Ambiental (EPA) de la Ley de Respuesta de Emergencias de Peligros (AHERA) de Asbesto de los Estados Unidos, en 1990 el distrito llevo a cabo inspecciones de cada edificio escolar para los materiales de construcción que contienen asbestos. Los resultados de la inspección y planes de manejo de asbesto han sido archivados en la oficina del director de mantenimiento, así como en cada oficina de mantenimiento de la escuela desde entonces. La EPA requiere para llevar a cabo re-inspecciones de materiales de asbestos cada tres años. Durante noviembre de 2015, un inspector de asbesto acreditado realizó estas re-inspecciones. Un planificador de gestión acreditada examinó los resultados de las re-inspecciones y las acciones que debemos tomar para manejar con seguridad cada material de asbesto en nuestros edificios.
