Description The Bicycle Team Building is appropriate for existing teams, cross-functional teams, or a mixed group of individuals. Groups work through problems to collect the parts to build the bicycles. Their efforts are capped by the opportunity to meet and directly deliver the new bikes to the children who will own them. This fast, energetic event produces excitement and the warm feelings at the end will be remembered and talked about for years.

Key Activities After an enlightening Icebreaker, your team is divided into small groups. In the warm up activity groups engage in actions designed to get them to start seeing their small groups as separate from the whole team. This simulates the silo effect often seen in companies. During the bicycle building, the small groups complete tasks, which require gathering information outside their group. Groups struggle until they begin to communicate with others. Soon they recognize there is “one team” working to accomplish the goal – building bicycles for needy children.

“…amazing!” - Josh, Siemens “…tremendous…” - Chris, Humana ”…truly unique.” - Angela, US Army

Outcomes Your team can expect the following: 1. Community service – expect to smile. 2. Participants will have FUN! 3. A Quality Team Building event with emphasis on: a. Collaborating for success b. Creatively using limited resources c. Tapping into strengths of group diversity d. Reaching outside everyone’s silo

Description Are you looking for a charity event to fill a small time frame in your next meeting or conference? In this version of Bicycle Team Building, you have the task of not only building your team's bicycle, BUT you get to decorate it to best reflect the event theme. The theme can be connected to the conference or corporate goals or seasonal. Think Mardi Gras, Fourth of July, Macy’s Thanksgiving parade or the Tournament of Roses pageant for inspiration. The focus in this event is having fun and giving back to the community.

Key Activities Teams assemble their bicycles as quickly and safely as possible. Then using the craft items supplied decorate their “float” bicycle and the team members. Once the floats are finished there is a parade. All team members participate in the parade with their float as extras underscoring the theme. For example, a band making musical sounds, a chorale group singing or chanting a themeoriented composition, or any other action which illustrates the theme. This event can be held indoors or outdoors. When held indoors, a video projection system is set up and the parade is broadcast complete with color commentary from our faux celebrity hosts.

Outcomes Your team can expect the following: 1. Laughter, silliness, energy and fun. 2. The children receiving the bikes love the decorations. 3. No formal emphasis is placed on team skills, but groups must work together creatively to produce their float.

“We laughed until we cried.” -- Pete, Kaiser Permanente “The broadcast allowed everyone to see and laugh.” --Jane, Cisco Systems “The child who got our bike had never had a bike before.” --Will, Verizon

(PROGRAM) Proposal for (CLIENT)

Description This special version of Bicycle Team Building honors active duty members of the armed services. Groups work through problems to collect the parts to build the bicycles. Their efforts are rewarded by delivering the new bikes to the child and their uniformed parent. Near the conclusion a Purple Heart recipient will give a brief talk about his/her experience and name a charity to receive $1,000 in their name. This patriotic, energetic event has an emotional impact that will never be forgotten.

Key Activities In building the bike each small group solves puzzles, codes and secrets to gather the tools and parts to complete the task. Groups will struggle until they begin to communicate with each other. Once the bikes are completed, children will enter the room with their parent. Once the applause and cheers have quieted, the check will be presented to the Purple Heart recipient’s charity.

Outcomes Your team can expect the following: 1. Patriotic enthusiasm – bring a tissue. 2. To have FUN! 3. To learn the value of collaboration

“Some of the class served as positive reinforcement for some things I already felt or believed. But I also learned many new team building techniques.” – Bob Winterhalter, Abbott Laboratories “I believe that by attending this workshop my team will tend to see the good things in their teammates and there will be less emphasis on conflict.” – Bob Kliegl, Verizon Wireless

Description “When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.” -Alexander Graham Bell. Teams constantly face change. Opportunities come and go. Ideas rise and fall. Sometimes teams get stuck looking at the “closed door,” by refusing to modify their position. Highly functioning teams have the ability to negotiate inside the team and with other teams. This event presents multiple situations to the participants where negotiation is the key that unlocks the door to the potential outside the walls they have built.

Key Activities A series of warm up exercises teach the participants negotiation skills, which when practiced earn them credits. As these exercises progress, groups amass a “building fund.” An auction is held and the groups collect parts to a dollhouse. As the event continues, it is eventually realized there is more than one dollhouse. Groups must then use their newly improved negotiation skills to exchange parts and complete the project. A representative from a local children’s home or hospital personally thanks the team and explains how the houses will be used.

Outcomes Your team can expect the following: 1. A great combination of community service and fun. 2. A Quality Team Building event with emphasis on: a. Identifying needs versus wants b. When to walk away from a negotiation c. Competitive versus collaborative decision making d. Finding the win-win solution.

“…gave me the skills I need to help my team achieve our goals” - Sylvia, Wells Fargo “…techniques will result in measurable improvements in our team functioning. ” - Steve, Plexus Corp ”Best training I ever had.” -Jenn, University of MN

Description There is a common misconception that homelessness is an issue that only pertains to single men and women, but in reality thousands of families a year will experience homelessness. Today, 41% of the homeless population is comprised of families. Reach out and give a helping hand to homeless families with children. We custom design your event to best serve the specific needs in your community. This program can be held either indoors or outside, depending on your schedule and meeting plans.

Key Activities Give a Hand is suitable for more than ten participants. The larger team is divided into groups, goals and objectives are explained, then each group devises their plan to accomplish the goal. The household, personal hygiene items or clothing are presented to the selected organization’s representative in person following the event. The recipient will present a framed thank you letter and explain how the donations will be used.

Outcomes A Quality Team Building event with emphasis on: 1. Learning to rely upon teammates for expertise and support. 2. Encouraging the staff to problem-solve more creatively. 3. Solving complex problems collaboratively.

“Best working seminar I have ever attended! Tremendous benefit from skills learned, especially with different people.” – William Wood, Allstate Insurance “I really enjoyed the active participation, which will really help retain lessons learned.” – Tom Goslin, WalMart

PackPA

Description Approximately 5 million to 7 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year, and approximately 3 million to 4 million are euthanized. With over 5,000 animal shelters nationwide, these facilities need help with caring for our furry family members between homes. This team building event is a fast, action-packed, event that results in local shelter needs being met. The donation might be food, blankets or cash, depending on known needs.

Key Activities This program works for more than ten participants. Teams race to collect the needed items to complete visual puzzles. Strategic planning is required because when they have acquired the complete puzzle and put it together, each group must determine how to use the finished puzzle to complete the event. The winning team gets to present all of the donations to a representative of a local animal shelter or humane society.

Outcomes A Quality Team Building event with emphasis on: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Learning to rely upon teammates for expertise and support. Encouraging the staff to problem-solve more creatively. Solving complex problems collaboratively. Helping meet an important need in the local community.

Stock

Description The Stock the Shelves charity team building is a fast, action-packed, multiple layer event. Teams race to collect food items by completing puzzles, winning board games and solving clues. Strategic planning is required because an additional challenge revealed after the event has started requires each team to build shelves using the cans and boxes. As they race to the finish, they learn there are additional surprise challenges to complete. The winning team gets to present all of the food to a representative of a local Food Bank.

Key Activities This charity team building event requires a broad array of skills. If “Stock the Shelves” was a university, it would have colleges of art, business, education, engineering, health, medicine and science. Teams are under time pressure to win, but must also reach out for skill sets that are not in their group. After acquiring all the food from their shopping list and building their shelves, they must rearrange the product and develop a “public service” announcement regarding the value of food groups.

Outcomes Your team can expect the following: 1. 2. 3. 4.

A very high energy, fun event. To learn about the value of diversity and collaboration. Understand what healthy eating involves. Learn about the real need at Food Banks

Zoo

Description The animals have escaped the zoo! The zoo crew teams must use all their powers of communication to unlock the mystery of how to fix the zoo’s problem. When the key is found they will collect and assemble a costumed menagerie of stuffed animals. At the conclusion of the event local First Responders will accept the donation and explain how the huggable toys will be used to calm children during emergencies.

Key Activities This experience raises awareness of how easily miscommunication can lock us in cages of isolation and provides teams with the keys to improving the exchange of ideas. A series of warm up exercises demonstrate how we communicate through all of our senses, not just sound. A blind obstacle course contains keys, which unlock clue boxes. The clues are solved and exchanged for stuffed animal parts.

Outcomes Your team can expect the following: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Community service to traumatized children. An exciting, fun filled event. Improved intra-team communication. Recognition of how to deliver more powerful messages.

Squish

Proposal for (CLIENT)

Description Based on the book, Squish Creativity Like a Bug, this classroom program uses humor to teach team building principles. spirit (PROGRAM Proposal for (CLIENT)

Description This event uses liqueurs - not for drinking, but to illustrate the multiple layers required to construct genuine team spirit in the workplace. The larger team is divided into smaller groups. Each group must create an environment that allows people to connect, building on the premise that a wealth of untapped resources is available within every team. They must solve clues to learn how to build their presentation. The event requires overcoming complicated challenges, following directions and developing a presentation on team dynamics. Each layer of the drink must symbolically represent elements that constitute strong team work… and it’s a lot of fun!

Key Activities After the members are divided into smaller groups, the participants solve clues to discover the ingredients required and directions to build the drink. Once they have accomplished this first step, each group must name the drink and create a presentation. Quality Public Speaking eliminate the fear of public speaking and design better presentation skills

This workshop can make virtually any speaker more relaxed, confident and persuasive in just two days! “Quality Public speaking will help your career by giving you the skills needed to convey your ideas to co-workers and supervisors! It’s the most comprehensive 2-day public speaking program ever developed! Our expert instructors use active participation to make the information memorable and to make sessions fun because people learn by doing – not by hearing. Early on Day 1, our instructors introduce key principles for eliminating public speaking fear and designing better presentations, and these valuable skills are expanded on and reinforced throughout the seminar.

Participants examine their own needs: “With each practice I got more confident and was able to use the techniques we were taught. I saw the difference in my presentations over the two days. I was surprised how much I improved.” – Michelle Trought, Grizzard

The class helps people overcome public speaking fear: "I believe that practice produces confidence, and I feel that I learned several valuable fundamentals that I will be able to apply while growing as a sales person because I practiced them in the classroom." – John Pichi-American Waste Management "Any public speaking fears we entered the class with were totally gone by the end of the program! Thanks for a great experience." – Jeff Bayer, CapitalOne

The class helps people design better presentations: "We had two big interviews the same week. Using techniques from the class, our team worked together efficiently, and was able to execute $3,956,000 in contracts producing immediate results and income." – Pete Gadoury, RBR Construction “This class helps presenters increase their enthusiasm and connect better with the audience. Instead of droning through the technical stuff, I established a real relationship with my audience. It really works!” – Chuck Dunham, 3DInternational
