Through Impenetrable Forest… …to the untouched plains of Uganda Uganda is quickly establishing a name for itself as a destination not to be missed by safari goers. It’s a land of contrasts …and far less visited areas compared to other countries, hence why we designed this fascinating package – not many countries offer you the endangered Mountain Gorilla along with stunning open plains. Enjoy it. Absorb it. Discover Uganda.
Boma Hotel | Entebbe 1 night The Boma is Entebbe’s original and most exclusive Hotel, set in tropical gardens in a leafy suburb, a few minutes’ drive from Entebbe International Airport ~ “Entebbe’s answer to the upmarket B&B” All rooms are individually decorated in a mixture of African and European décor, and have been designed to reflect the original colonial architecture of this perfect overnight hotel.
Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge | Bwindi 3 nights Remote. Beautiful. Intimate … and at over 2,000 metres above sea level, it is Uganda’s highest lodge. Since it opened, this small remote lodge continues to win prizes, awards and accolades both internationally and locally. Picture this ~ You’re sitting up on a ridge, above the clouds, looking across to the Virunga volcanoes. Behind you is the primordial, mysterious and impenetrable forest that is Bwindi. Activities Tracking gorillas is high on the agenda for many tourists to Uganda. By all means, come to Clouds to track gorillas…but while you’re here, why not stay on a bit and immerse yourself in the relaxed vibe of the lodge, partake in Community activities, indulge in massage and beauty treatments and just enjoy the rarity of being pampered in such a spectacular setting. Accommodation Guests at Clouds stay in their own cottage. Built of local volcanic stone, every cottage has a large sitting room with fireplace, vast overstuffed armchairs, and hand-woven carpets. Each individual cottage features the work of one of Uganda’s most respected artists (known to the lodge as the ‘Clouds 9’) The main lodge feels like someplace else – soaring ceilings, massive exposed wooden beams, big picture windows with endless views of treetops, volcanoes and mountains.
Apoka Safari Lodge | Kidepo Valley National Park 4 nights When you close your eyes and think of Africa, the landscape you imagine – the jagged hills, the golden grasses, the plains dotted with wildlife, the soft glowing light ~ is likely to be Kidepo ~ as remote as you can get! Activities & Wildlife Wildlife in Kidepo is abundant. Lions, leopard, cheetah, elephant, giraffe, zebra (this is Uganda’s only park where giraffe and zebra are found together), possibly Africa’s largest herds of buffalo, hartebeest, waterbuck, bushbuck, warthog… the list is endless. Better still, much of it can be seen from the privacy of your veranda or your outdoor bathtub, but the best way to see the wildlife is up close: on foot, or in one of our open-top Landcruisers. Do you want stride out across the savanna and walk with zebras? Spend time in a Karamojong village learning about their traditional way of life? Enjoy a sundowner in the arms of a massive fig tree? Sit and watch a breeding herd of elephant frolicking in the mud? Accommodation The rooms at Apoka have been built with comfort in mind. Everything is handmade by local craftsmen, everything is large and capacious. 10 expansive rooms with natural canvas walls surround a rocky kopje with endless views across the savannah. With inside sitting rooms and private verandas there are plenty of places to relax, read and sprawl. Big hand-hewn beds with soft duvets are draped with mosquito nets, hand-woven woolen carpets, extra-large plush towels, over-sized dressing gowns…you may be as far away from the city as you’ll ever be, but you won’t miss a thing. Step outside to a sheltered terrace and slip into your own outdoor stone bathtub, big enough to fit the whole family. The swimming pool at Apoka Lodge – deep and cool – has been carved out of the big rock. This is the kind of pool that makes you want to jump in, splashing and yelling, feeling like a kid again.
