COMPLETE TURN-KEY RENOVATIONS Since 1981, Church Interiors has participated in over 10,000 renovations. We have renovated small chapels that seat less than 100 people to large "cathedrals" that seat over 2,000 including many churches on the Historical Register. We have regional installation crews that execute work from New York to Florida and as far west as Texas. Our goal is exactly the same as your renovation committee … make your church as beautiful as it can possibly be at the lowest possible cost with little or no disruption to your church services. PROGRAM I – COMPLETE TURN-KEY RENOVATIONS This Program is for the church that would like to turn over the entire renovation to Church Interiors from conception to completion. For example, your church wants to change the look of the front of the church, expand the chancel area, change the ceiling, put in new lighting, etc. We would bring in a designer who would do sketches and drawings for review and approval by your building committee. We would have an interior designer prepare a designer board to coordinate colors. We would prepare a comprehensive proposal. After contract award we would purchase and warehouse all materials and then schedule to perform the actual work in a condensed timeframe that would disrupt church services as little as possible. Under this program we would be responsible for the complete turnkey project including the general construction work.

JOINT VENTURE RENOVATIONS PROGRAM II – JOINT VENTURE RENOVATIONS This flexible Program accomplishes the same end result as program I and allows the church to work with their local architect and or contractor. Under this program, Church Interiors would provide the color interior design and perform all of the work except the general construction work. The painting & plaster repair, floor covering, pew refinishing & upholstery, new pews, stained glass, choir chairs, chancel furniture, audio/video etc. would be contracted with Church Interiors.

COSMETIC RENOVATIONS PROGRAM III – COSMETIC RENOVATIONS This Program is a renovation in which there is no general construction work. The church would like to update the color scheme which would include carpeting, painting, pew refinishing, upholstering or cushions, etc. We would have our interior designer meet with your committee to help coordinate paints, stains, carpet, fabrics, etc. We would prepare a proposal and if accepted, we would coordinate scheduling and perform the work in a condensed timeframe that would prevent minimal or no disruption to church services. Church Interiors will work with your church on just one service or a complete package.

Upholstering is done on-site from Sunday to Sunday without interrupting church services. Factory upholstering techniques are brought to the job site. Factory upholstered pews are completely disassembled. Fabric is stretched mechanically for a smooth uniform upholstering appearance. Pew re-upholstering costs 1/3 the cost of new pews.

ON-SITE REFINISHING

LIGHT REFINISHING
The exposed wood will be chemically cleaned to remove existing dirt, oil and wax build-up to prepare the areas for the new finish. The existing wood surface will be prepped. Two coats of a blending non-toxic finish will be applied to blend in areas where the existing finish and stain has worn off. A third coat of clear permanent finish will be applied.
! Light refinishing has its limitations. It is not appropriate for pews that have sunlight damage, excessive scratches and water damage. Light refinishing cannot be used to change the stain color. However, light refinishing is a very cost effective process to enhance the existing appearance and extend the life of the pews. Light refinishing is a permanent process. The finish can be done on-site without interruption of church services.

SPECIFICATIONS Loose plaster must be removed down to the lathe and substrate to provide a solid foundation for new plaster. Any loose lathe must be secured or replaced. All stress and cracks must be dug out at least 1/4’’ and repaired with flexible elastomeric compound. New finish coat shall be a flexible elastomeric coating that hides existing and future spider cracks. Surface patching and skim coating cracks is not recommended.
Plaster finishing and repair is a specialized trade that requires special materials & techniques. Typical drywall patching will be obvious and cracks will return in 3 - 6 months. Elastomeric plaster compound & elastomeric finish coats give the surface flexibility. Proper plaster repair & prep work will take twice as long as painting. If painting takes 2 weeks, plaster repair and prep work will take 4 weeks.
