Pure, white and deadly, the three refined foods that most damage our health Back in September, TV1 showed a hard hitting documentary by psychologist Nigel Latta on the damage done to New Zealanders by refined sugars. The documentary shocked most viewers, and honestly so it should. Health researchers like myself have known of this huge danger for years. Nigel lost 3.5 kgs in just 10 days Our obesity problem is firmly linked with sugar. It was interesting to see during the documentary, that when Nigel improved his reasonably healthy diet on the advice of a nutritionist, he lost 3.5 kgs in just 10 days, mostly from his belly area. He did not appear to change his normal exercise regime, which shows the possibilities.
The second deadly white food Besides sugar there are two other deadly white foods that play havoc with our health. One of these is white flour and the many products made from it. White flour converts to sugar (glucose) in our blood almost as fast as sugar. Just like glucose from sugar, if it’s not used up as energy it gets stored as fat.
“I just stopped eating bread” A few years ago I met a woman acquaintance about my own age at church, who had been heavily obese all the years I had known her. I hadn’t seen her for a while and didn’t recognise her at first, as she was half the size she used to be. “How did you do it?” I asked her. She said “I just stopped eating bread.” I questioned her further but she insisted that was all she had done.
Lost nutrients in white flour The rapid digestion of white flour is only half the danger, the other half is that most of the essential nutrients have been lost during refining. Almost unbelievably these include around 90% of chromium, 80% of magnesium, 75% of zinc, 75% of fibre, 70% of vitamin B6, 60% of vitamin B1 thiamine and so the list goes on. (This is why our daily CAA multi-mineral and vitamin capsule works so well – it supplies these missing nutrients.)
To make matters worse, hard to digest gluten is normally added by millers to increase white flour’s rising qualities.
What about wholemeal flour? So called wholemeal flours from supermarkets are almost as nutrientbarren. They are just a re-mix of white flour and bran, completely leaving out the wheat germ which is the most nutritious part of wheat. Wheat germ spoils so quickly it greatly reduces the shelf-life of wheat flour products. The only truly nutritious flour is that which is freshly milled from whole wheat grains. You can mill it yourself at home (as I do) or buy it freshly ground from health shops.
Whole wheat still the best grain for humans Wheat has had a bad press in recent years, but it’s still the grain that best provides for human nutrition and energy, especially the older varieties of wheat such as Spelt.
The third deadly white food refined salt The third deadly white food is refined salt. This is drained of more essential nutrients during processing than white flour. In fact 98% of the more than 70 trace minerals and elements in natural salt, many of them essential for health, are lost in processing, leaving just sodium and chloride. Natural salt is an excellent health food, but refined salt is a man-made disaster. Fortunately we can buy unrefined salt that retains all the trace minerals and elements. Passionflower, a plant from North and South America, is a popular dietary supplement for sleep disorders, nervous tension, and anxiety. Tips to help you make the best quality Colloidal Silver at home TIP 1 Cleanliness is most important – sterilise your vessel and stirrers in boiling water. TIP 2 Use only Pure Dew water - water should be 2 or at most 3PPM before beginning. Tap water, distilled water or rain water are usually not pure enough. TIP 3 Cover the vessel when generating to avoid dust/dirt getting into the liquid. Stir frequently. TIP 4 Clean the rods and swap over the electrodes at 20/30 minute intervals. This will result in more even rod wear and minimise large clumps of silver. TIP 5 Colloidal Silver should be clear (or slightly grey or gold) not brown or murky.
