MGB. T (main gearbox oil max. temperature)
Checkliste AS 350 B Definitions / Emergency procedure A.) Land as soon as possible
Land without delay at nearest suitable area i.e. open field at which a safe approach and landing is reasonably assured
B.) Land as soon as practical
The landing site and duration of the flight are at the discretion of the pilot; extended Flight beyond the nearest approved landing area is not recommended
→ asap
BAT. T (battery max. temperature)
- BAT OFF - land as soon as possible
ENG. P (engine oil pressure alarm)
- reduce power - land as soon as practicable
Caution lights amber GEN (D.C. power supply failure)
Warning lights red HYD (Loss of hydraulic pressure < 30 bar)
in flight - set speed within 40 and 60 KIAS - keep level attitude - avoid abrupt maneuvers - collective HYD pushbutton OFF - land as soon as possible - make flat approach - perform no-hover/slow run-on landing (10 KIAS) - do not hover without hydraulic assistance - collective LOCK - apply shutdown procedure in hover IGE - and normally - collective LOCK - apply shutdown procedure
Fire (engine fire)
during enginge start - fuel flow control to shutdown position - close fuel shut-off valve - switch-off Fuel pump + generator - ventilate crank engine for 10 seconds - switch-off BAT - extinguish fire in flight - autorotation - close fuel shut-off valve - switch-off Fuel pump + generator - switch-off BAT
MGB. P (main gearbox oil minimum pressure)
- test voltage - check GEN ON - attempt a resetting - if unsuccessful: shed most unessential consumers - land as soon as practicable (day within 50’, night 20’)
BAT. T (Battery isolated from D.C. network - no longer charging)
HORN (Alarm horn not set)
- avoid large attitude changes
PITOT (Pitot heating system not energized)
- check PITOT ON - observe airspeed indicator readings
DOORS (One or both baggage hold side doors unlocked)
ENG CHIP (Metal particles in engine oil system)
- check BAT ON - observe voltage - continue flight - check HORN ON
FUEL (Fuel quantity < 60 ltr. / 11° / 25’)
- reduce airspeed to 120 KIAS - check visually if door open - if door open: land or continue < 120 KIAS - maintain low ROD and flat approach angle - continue flight - observe engine parameters (Ng / Oil / Torque) - if oil pressure increases by 1 bar: land asap - abnormal hunting of torquemeter: land asap
F. FILT (Fuel filter clogging early warning)
- reduce engine power - if light goes out: continue at red. PWR - if light remains: land asap
- reduce power - land as soon as possible www.airport-helicopter.ch
www.airport-helicopter.ch/piloten
- test warning panel to check MGB.P - does MGB.P not light up: proceed as MGB.P at zero - does light up: land and check oil level - if oil level normal, fly to nearest base

Information light blue BLEED VALVE (Bleed valve is open)
- goes off Ng > 97% - comes on Ng < 93% - if jammed (light off): possibility of surging - avoid fast power variations
Miscellaneous emergencies Autorotation
- set low collective pitch - monitor and control rotor RPM - establish 65 KIAS - move Fuel flow to shutdown position - close fuel Shut-off valve - switch off Fuel pump - switch off Generator - switch off BAT
Flame-out in flight (symptoms)
- yaw (right) - drop of rotor rpm - torque at 0 - Ng falling off to 0 - GEN illuminates - ENG. P illuminates - execute autorotation
Re-lighting engine in flight
- normal relighting ceiling: 13’000 ft - Fuel pump ON - Generator ON - wait Ng < 30% - normal starting procedure - max. engine acceleration: Ng 70%
Govenor malfunction
T/R failure
- control rpm with Fuel flow control and collective pitch - reduce power (depending on airspeed ev. AR) - establish speed at 70 KIAS - make run-on landing
T/R control failure
- set speed to 70 KIAS - press and hold HYD TEST for 5” (will bring T/R down to low pitch) - make run-on landing
Rotor RPM indicator reading low in PWR on flight
www.airport-helicopter.ch/piloten
- too low electrical power supply voltage gives a lower than actual RPM reading - BAT OFF (for correct RPM reading)
