Check list for using the PowerPoint poster template This poster template is to be used for a consistent look for all posters, and to ensure proper reproduction when printed. Use ARIAL font only •  Please use Arial font in your PowerPoint template. Font sizes can be between Arial Bold 8 to 10pt for headings; subheads are Arial Bold Italic 8pt to 9pt and Text is Arial Regular, not bold, 8pt to 9pt; depending on the amount of text. Please keep colours to black as this will ensure proper printing. • Not enough text to fill the template? You can add more space between sections or paragraphs. Use the PowerPoint template provided • Please use the PowerPoint template provided to ensure that your poster will have a consistent look and design. DO NOT change the position of the IDEAS logo, there is a blue boxed area where you can place the your organization’s logo. Graphs and Infographics • Please use Excel to create your bar chart or any other chart. However, you must set the graphic/table/chart font to ARIAL as any other fonts used in charts/graphs will translate into a symbol font which is unusable at the printer stage. If you are using Chartrunner, it can be converted to Excel using the instructions on the following page. Follow the steps below on how to make sure the graph or chart in Excel is set to Arial font: Step 1: Create the graph/chart as you normally would. Don’t forget to include:  Organization logo: file in EPS format (not a screen shot) to ensure that your logo reproduces nicely and doesn’t appear fuzzy when printed.  Contact information Name: Title: Name of organization: Telephone: Email Address: Organization’s website address (if applicable): Step 2: S  elect the graph (double-click) on the graph and select Arial from the Font menu.

CHARTrunner to Excel Lesson 4 - using the CHARTrunner-XL Excel add-in CHARTrunner-XL is an Add-In for Microsoft Excel 2000 (or higher) that allows you to use CHARTrunner within Excel to define, display, and manage CHARTrunner charts using the data in the Excel workbook. When you use the CHARTrunner-XL Add-In, your chart definitions are stored in the Excel workbook along with the Excel data, so that you do not need to leave Excel to display CHARTrunner charts. In addition, the CHARTrunner-XL Add-In allows you to chart data that is arranged “horizontally” (subgroups that are stored in columns rather than rows), a feature that is not supported in the stand-alone version of CHARTrunner.

Activate the Excel Add-In The CHARTrunner-XL Add-In is installed when you install CHARTrunner. However, in order to use the Add-In within Excel, you must activate the Add-In as described below. There are two ways to activate the CHARTrunner-XL Add-In: 1. Activating via the CHARTrunner Excel Add-In Utility.

Both CHARTrunner and Microsoft Excel must be installed and not currently running. Open the Start Menu and select CHARTrunner 3.5 | CHARTrunner Excel Add-In Utility. The utility will open, as illustrated below.



If you have multiple versions of Excel, select the Excel version you want to update.



Select the Install the following CHARTrunner-XL Add-In option (as shown above) and click the OK button.



You should not need to run this utility again unless you want to change the activation status of the Add-In.

2. Activating through the Excel Add-In option: •

Start Excel.



Open the Tools Menu and select Add-Ins. If this option is grayed out, click on the New file icon and try again.

In the Add-Ins available column, select CHARTrunner Excel Add-In. If this is not listed, click on the Browse button. The Add-In file will be in the CHARTrunner directory. The default location is “C:\Program Files\PQ Systems\CHARTrunner 3.5\Excel.” Select CrXLAddIn.xla and click the OK button to close the Browse form. •

Click the OK button to close the Add-In form.

2. Enter 5 to 10 rows of numbers, as shown below.

3. Highlight the data that you entered by clicking on the first cell and dragging to the last cell that contains data.

4. With this data highlighted, open the CHARTrunner menu and select Control chart, measurements.

5. Enter Tutorial as the chart name. Set the data orientation to Data is added top to bottom (rows). Click the OK button.

6. A simple control chart will open in a new window. To edit the chart, right-click on the chart and select Edit chart definition from the pop-up menu.

7. Click on the Control chart tab, then click on the X-axis Y- axis sub-tab. In the Label x-axis with field, select Field1 from the drop-down menu. Then click the OK button. 8. Close the chart window.
