Cherie’s 2nd Christmas

We hope you all have a lovely Christmas, but please spare a thought for the people, and especially animals who will not have a nice time this year. It saddens me at all the dogs in shelters given up or neglected by their owners, or even worse, we have a new patient who has brought several dogs in from Romania as they are treated so bad there, it make me shudder just to think about it, she has my full respect for what she is doing trying to help as best as she can.

This year has seemed to me to have gone even quicker than before, it is frightening just how fast time seems to fly. I am looking forward to spending a great Christmas with Billy, our 10th Christmas together, our 6th here in Cornwall, and Cherie which will be our 3rd Christmas together, who will be 3 years old in December. She now looks like a fully grown Pyrenean Mountain Dog now she has her main and size, although still very much a puppy in her playing. Although Billy now 10 is playing a lot more than Cherie is, he has almost always got a ball in his mouth. When patients come he will not leave them alone continuously bringing his balls to them to throw. But as soon as we go to the treatment room he lies down while I treat my patients. Christmas Joy In fact as soon as I put my clerical shirt on he runs up to 1979 the treatment room waiting, as he knows there is a patient arriving soon.

PATIENT TESTIMONIAL’s Cancer in the head, chest and breast Distant healing, with an occasional personal appointment. I lost a breast 10 years previous, the doctors told me it had returned in my other breast, as well as my head and chest.....… My consultants said it was to bad for any treatment, and I should go home and live my life to the full. I had a personal appointment with you, then distant healing. I felt that full of life I could have skipped away. The doctors on a check up, could not under stand how well I looked when they thought I would be dead, so decided to do a scan. 3 months later, they could not find any trace of cancer in my head. 2 months later, they could not find any trace of cancer in my whole body. Margaret South coast.

Overseas Life support machine. Thank you for treating my father, who was on a life support machine in a hospital in Germany, very close to death. Soon after you started treating him, he started to get better, he was soon off the life support machine, and soon after, back with me in England. I could feel the healing going through me to my father when you were treating him. Cathie

Over seas, America You picked up right away where my daughters problem was, I did not tell her you were treating her, but just talking to her a few days later I could hear she was a lot better. Malisca

A day out in Padstow We have not visited Padstow one of our favourite places since the spring, as parking is chock-a-block being a favourite holiday destination. Although there are 2 very big parks just up the hill outside Padstow, we have not attempted to use these before because of the long walk and we are not as fit as we used to be, but after driving over 40 miles I did not want to not have a walk around, so we decided to see what kind of walk it was. Apart from the main car park there is a field we decided to try, there was no one taking money so a good touch, and as it happened quite a nice walk down to the harbour, ( 600 yards it claims). We were pleasantly surprised as we thought it would be a lot harder than it was. On our way passing St. Petrocs Parish Church where we looked inside on our return, a lovely church with a nice warm feeling.

And a lovely meal We can well recommend the Harbour Inn, Padstow, you can even take your dog with you as you can see. We usually have fish’n’chips sitting by the harbour, but it was not very warm, so decided to treat ourselves, which we do not do very often on an OAP, we almost went here 5 years ago for our anniversary, it was our first year down but it was Christmas week and they were very busy. One of the nicest meals we have had out in a long time, home made beer batter on the fish, even home made chips. A real old inn, (not all chrome and glass), with beamed ceilings and chunky furniture, we were both comfortable and full after our meal, in fact we could not manage all of it, when we said that to the manager when he took the plates away, he replied September 2016 they would rather see us leave some and go out full than hungry. The Harbour Inn The staff we spoke to were friendly, the atmosphere was great, it Well worth a visit was a really lovely treat we thoroughly enjoyed. We shall go there again when we are over that way and we can Below the harbour showing how close it is afford to.

I was young once Honest !

The hansom fella on the left is me folks, honest, I was young once many moons ago. One Christmas long ago in yesteryear, sitting with my Mom and Dad, God bless them, I would think this would be 1960, give or take a year. There was nothing in the bottle, just for show, was never much of a boozer, even back then. Taken with an old folding front camera, a Kodak 66, I still have this camera in my collection..

Can you trust garages ? This story is not the one I was going to write, as I said last month I do not want to write anything negative in our Christmas issue. So a positive article about a garage……. This concerns ourselves and our garage, and “wobbly wheels”, or its technical term, wheel balancing. I was driving my E-Type Jaguar at the time, which had a slight vibration through the steering wheel at the usual speed of 50 / 70 mph. I had taken it to our tyre specialist, and others who had tried several times to no avail, both on and off the car, after their attempts to balance the wheels the vibration was still there. I was talking to one of our cashiers one day in the shop of our self service petrol station, when a rep from a motor parts supplier we used walked into the shop, looking very dismayed, he walked up to the counter and said …” you do not want to buy a wheel balancer do you” …. ? Then without waiting for an answer just turned around and walked away, it was obvious that he had got that many push backs on his travels he had given up trying to sell them. I said “hang on” !, To which he stopped, turned around with a little smile on his face listening in anticipation, I then said .. “do you see that car out there” … pointing to the parking area for the workshop, he said ..” That E-Type” … I said “yes, I have a balancing problem no one can seem to cure, if you can cure this problem I will but one from you and your company”.. He smiled and said ” I will get back to you”, which he did later in the day, telling me he had arranged a demonstration in a few days time booking an appointment. The day came, and 2 cars and a van appeared on my forecourt, the rep, the German director for “Hoffman” the equipment company, who could not speak a word of English, and an engineer with a wheel balancer in the van who spoke good English. I drove my E-Type into my workshop, the engineer set it up, the machine was a little different to the usual back then, and showing me how to balance the wheels on the car, so also balancing the suspension as well, chrome wire wheels can be more difficult to balance. It was an interesting experience, and took very little time compared to all the other attempts tried by others. That been done I took it for a road test, and what do you think, perfect at last !!!!

So job well done, I ordered one. More expensive than most, but you pay for quality and perfection. The MD then shook my hand and departed…….. We soon developed a reputation for wheel balancing in that area balancing many different types of cars and wheels. One day, I was called into the shop, ( most my time was in the workshop repairing cars or doing MOT’s), There was a gentleman with a most unhappy expression on his face, he was immaculately dressed, and I noticed an almost new BMW parked outside, he knew nothing about my reputation but saw the advertising board. He asked me if I would balance his wheels telling me nothing more, of course I agreed, asking him to drive it into the workshop. I jacked one front side up placing the strobe under one wheel, spun the wheel with the balancers own motor, probably done in 5 minutes or so, then changed and balanced the the side. The rear wheels were a little different with this machine as you jacked both rear wheels up placing the strobe under one, thereby balancing not only the wheel but suspension and drive shafts as well, one side done changed the strobe to the other side and repeated. The rear wheels took a little longer, also you balanced them under the cars own power, up to 100 mph on this model. The whole balancing would have only taken around half an hour, I removed the strobe and jack, placed the BMW on the floor, and said to the gentleman “that all done”, to which he replied, “you have not done that” ?’ I thought what is he on ?, I said “you have just seen me balance your wheels, they are perfect” ? He replied, “ I have been to this garage, that garage, another garage, who have spent hours trying to get the balancing right and non have, yet you spend a few minutes and claim it is done, no way” ! So I said “your wheels are perfect, I will tell you what I will do, take your car for a test drive and then come back to pay me” ! His face expression changed to one of surprise, so off he drove, a little while later back he drove on my forecourt, came walking into the shop, wallet out, this time a big smile on his face, he was flabbergasted I had done in such a small time what many garages could not do in hours ! It was nice to work with a machine far better than what was available at the time. Another satisfied customer.

Telephone: 075 811 37 649 The Pyrenean Mountain dog, the Rottweiler, and Rupert the Bear Going back to our first Pyrenean Mountain Dog, Prince, and our first Rottweiler, Ricky, in the mid 1980’s. I always buy puppies, but on this occasion I brought Ricky at 10 months old, both breeds are very dominant working breeds and guard dogs, so at first when we went shopping just for safety we put Ricky in an outhouse off the kitchen, with a gate we fitted so he was not completely closed off from the rest of the house. On this occasion we returned from shopping looking straight down through the kitchen, to our horror we saw the gate to the out house was wide open, and so no Rottweiler there, or a sound. Also there was no dog(s) rushing to the front door to greet us which would always happen ? A horrific panic rushed into our minds, with both breeds being very big, strong and powerful guard dogs, wonder what we were about to find when entering the house. We flung the lounge door wide open, which was a long straight through lounge, only to see lumps of white all over the carpet, what was that we immediately thought, ( Pyreneans are white), wondering if it was Princes hair after a fight. Rushing into the lounge, looking to ward the patio window, there we saw both Prince and Ricky lying side by side together happy as can be ? A few feet away there was the remains of a large Rupert Bear belonging to Sandy our daughter, the white bits covering all the carpet were the filling. So somehow Ricky got out of the outhouse, between him and Prince, they found Sandy’s Rupert Bear and had a whale of a time playing with it, obviously with Corinthian Church their strength and power they soon ripped it in bits with the filling flying all over & Healing Association the lounge, it was clear they were the best of friends so no keeping them apart Reverend Malcolm is area any more. contact for Cornwall & Devon When we went to fetch Ricky we did take Prince with us, as if there was any Any one can join, not just sign of them not being friends we would not have brought him, but at the breedhealers, you are all welcome ers garden they played OK.
