The Company manufactures over 1000 rock bit designs for oil and gas industr y ranging from 3 3/4” to 26” in diameter with milled teeth and tungsten carbide inserts; over 80 standard sizes of mining rock bits ranging from 5 1/8” to 15 1/2” in diameter for compressed-air drilling in various mining and geological conditions. Also, Volgaburmash manufactures over 350 designs of PDC bits with matrix or steel bodies for various drilling applications ranging from 3 1/4” to 17 1/2” in diameter, PDC core bits for core drilling, stabilizers, string stabilizers and near-bit stabilizers.
The Company carries out continuous technical modernization of production. Currently, Volgaburmash, JSC is equipped with the most advanced multi-axis machining centers, furnaces, heattreatment machines, welding and hardfacing units purchased from the world’s leading producers.

High bit performance is achieved due to high-quality materials, using improved reliability bearings, most recent bit body protection systems and optimum cutting structure layout. This bit type is ideal for horizontal drilling. SlimholePro bits use friction bearings with constituent parts made of antifriction wearresistant material with silver coating as well as elastomer coating to improve wear characteristics.

To increase steel teeth life, a patented material is used that consists of a mixture of spherical cast tungsten carbide and small hard-alloy grains. Depending on the rock hardness, either side surfaces or side and end surfaces of steel teeth are hardfaced. The gauge may be protected with tungsten carbide inserts. For additional protection against gauge loss, a near gauge of tungsten carbide inserts may be used. The gauge and the near gauge rows may include diamond-coated tungsten carbide inserts. Depending on the application, these inserts may come up to 30%, 50% or 100% of the total amount of inserts.

Large diameter bits (over 15 1/2”) with open bearings are designed for drilling upper well sections (surface hole drilling). Without sealing elements in the bearing, it is possible to maximize the journal and the rollers dimensions and to achieve full circulation in the bearing which is highly important as it helps reduction of the torque, providing quick cooling action and increasing bearing life.

Cutting structure This product line may have either milled teeth or TCI. Cutting structure designed with advanced software systems provides effective drilling of any rock type and prolongs bit life. To increase steel teeth life, a patented material is used that consists of a mixture of spherical cast tungsten carbide and small hard-alloy grains. Depending on the rock hardness, either side surfaces or side and end surfaces of steel teeth are hardfaced. The gauge may be protected with tungsten carbide inserts. For additional protection against gauge loss, a near gauge of tungsten carbide inserts may be used. The gauge and the near gauge rows may include diamond-coated tungsten carbide inserts. Depending on the application, these inserts may come up to 30%, 50% or 100% of the total amount of inserts.

Single Small and medium diameter one-cone bits with sealed bearings are designed for deep drilling and provide increased bit life as compared with three-cone bits. Single bits have uniform friction bearings with hard-faced sur faces. Their strong bearing, power ful cutting structure and high thickness of the cone ensure accident-free highly-efficient per formance at greatest depths. When fitted with PDC cutters such bits per fectly cope with high loading during forced drilling practices. The shape of the cone accounts for semispherical cutting at bottom hole. The absence of the gauge relief typical of the three-cone bits, as well as the legs facing the wellbore wall and preventing the quick change of the direction make the one-cone drill bits of the Single Product Line indispensable during horizontal and directional drilling with high build rate.

Bladed hole-openers
Hole-openers Bladed and rock bit hole-openers up to 920 mm (36 1/4 inch) in diameter are used for hole-opening while drilling oil and gas wells, as well as at any sites due to technical factors, including the regions of the Far North. A hole-opener combined with a pilot bit can replace a large diameter bit. Several patented original technical solutions were implemented in hole-openers design. The product is characterized by the operating convenience and reliability, it helps customers reduce drilling time and drilling costs.
Application: Opening bore hole in different types of formations: from soft with medium interlayers to hard formations.
Design: Work surfaces of the hole-opener are applied with wear-resistant material to prevent early wear of the blades. PDC cutters on the gauge improve wearresistance of the design.
