Danube Macro Region Business Week 2016 | Sept 12 - Sept 17 2016

FOREWORD

For sure, Europe has different regions, but concerning the general, international and global development we have to be aware, that all our regions are connected and depending on each other. If we are looking beyond of supply chain design and the necessary logistics in our time of mobility, we are depending on a right strategy how the different marketplaces can come together. Even under the auspices, that it might be one market place. This situation is already started and we have to prepare ourselves, that we are doing the right decisions on development of added value chains, investment and finance. By closing and making gaps we also have to have the capacity to organize it politically in the best way possible. This is not the question of the future, it is a challenge for now, here and today. Therefore I am extremely grateful to all the contributors to this, for the speakers, sponsors, those, who are planning and hopefully also completing this task. We are doing another step forward, but also making sure, that the next planned steps at least until 2020 will follow. Sincerely, Erhard Busek, Coordinator, South East European Cooperative Initiative (SECI), Vienna, Austria

Danube Macro Region Business Week 2016 | Sept 12 - Sept 17 2016

EUROPEAN COMMISSION VIENNA

Ladies and Gentlemen, For Europe needs positive headlines. The people living in the Danube Region are expecting from the EU-Danube Strategy faster transport by road and rail, cleaner transport by improving the navigability of rivers and cheaper and more secure energy. Businesses dream of a prosperous and well-governed region. This years' Danube Business Forum focuses on competitiveness of medium and small sized companies in the Danube Region. It will provide answers to the questions "How to benefit from the Juncker Invest Plan in the Danube Region? How to attract private investors? How to improve the business climate? How can we improve Competiveness and Public Private Infrastructure?" A strategy, which from its beginning, was focused on how to boost the development of the Danube Region, has to deliver tangible results and stimulate concrete projects. I am confident that the Danube Business Forum can make a major contrition to this challenging notion and bring together business and stakeholders agreeing on ways forward. Sincerely, Johann Sollgruber, Representation of the European Commission in Austria, Vienna, Institute of Danube and Middle Europe

D2: 11.30 – 13.00

Session 2: Strategies for Closing & Making Gaps from a Macro Perspective

Session Learner Objectives: - Walk away with insight, how competitiveness is a matter of supply chain design - Learn about initiatives to create and improve the supply base in the Danube Region The challenge for becoming competitive will not be made by "HeliCopter-Money from Heaven". It's also not only up how Supply Chain Design & Logistics (SD+L) is dealing with such a diversity of countries not only addressing app. E100 billion logistics costs and yet undefined inventory levels. What really matters will be gaining economics of scale and scope becoming competitive on global scale. SD+L has to address the chain of technologies and capabilities and the identification of core competencies and definition who is the customer and what to make or what to buy in an procurement and manufacturing 4.0 environment. Moderator: Hans-Peter Herdlitschka, Priority Area 8, Stuttgart Michael Druml, Director Global Purchasing & Logistics, Magna Steyr AG, Graz Olaf Holzgrefe, Head of International Affairs, BME, Frankfurt (tbc) Xaver Reis, Head of Component Engineering, Diehl AKO Stiftung & CO KG, Wangen/Germany

Session 3: Closing Gaps in Macroeconomics Session Learner Objectives: - Walk away with a comprehensive status about the gaps to be closed including a review of standards - Learning from the 5 Danube Financial Dialogs (DFD's), how the financial cycle matters Experiences from EU12 1992 f.e. in Spain f.e. from the housing bubble are still wide visible. Money in free & democratic market environment is not working alone. Funding for projects and investments also for "closing investment gaps" have to be paid back even more in a time of peak debt. The robustness of pay back from free cash flow (secured by increased productivity) before of interest is key for the quality of underlying projects and capexes. Complementary, creating a "bigger market" with competitive standards along the whole supply chain is decisive. Moderator: Dominik Schmied, Partner, CVI Group, Vienna Mario Holzner, Deputy Director, Vienna Institute for international Economic Franz Nauschnigg, Head of European Affairs & International Financial Organizations Division, Austrian National Bank, Vienna Rufat Alimardanov, Regional Head Ukraine and Belarus, International Finance Corporation, Kyiv, Ukraine (tbc)

Session 5: Business Cases, Mobility & Infrastructure Session Learner Objectives: - Learn about the Status of the Danube Strategy embedded in the actual political Realities like Investment Gaps - Walk away with an insight view of Policy Makers to Close the Gaps and to Make the Gaps Most of the countries in the Danube Macro region have a very low WB Country Rating in respect to Trade Logistics. Closing this Gap by Investment in Infrastructure will be key by aligning Macro logistics Infrastructure Needs with Private Capabilities also f.e. PPPF Models. Germany has built its competitive advantage in this sector by a long term PPPF program, which could be regarded as benchmark also for the Danube Macro Region. Even show cases like CTE and CCG, already on their way from Cargo Centers to Logistics Cities and from Multimodality to Syncromodality have suffered from the non-availability of such (a) German concept in Austria (and along the Danube Region). E2: 11.30 – 13.00

Session 6: Business Cases: Food & Steel, Trading & Investments

Session Learner Objectives: - Learn about a Success Story and how "Danube Region Risk Management" will reflect capexes and finance - Gain insights about project design from an "operational management sale, manufacture, purchase- view" There is (painful) long road for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) from viewing chances in the Danube Macro Region up to Creation of Profits and Free Cash Flow such as Territory and Account planning, find Fits along a Prospect & Penetration Management, identify Deals and Overcome Approvals to move on Proposals, Contracts and onto a CARE. This process even is becoming more challenging when collaborative R&D and 3DCE (3 dimensional concurrent engineering) is key for success. How 'Juncker Invest" is able supporting these processes? Are there functions or even institutions missing to close the "Investment Gaps what Liquidity cannot do alone"?
