Welcome to The Ashcombe School’s Careers Evening 2016 As part of our Careers Education and Guidance programme we are delighted to welcome students, parents, staff and visitors to The Ashcombe School Careers Fair, sponsored by The Ashcombe School PTA. We trust that this evening will offer students the opportunity to make informed choices at a key stage of their school career. Students and parents have the opportunity to talk with as many people as possible and ask our career representatives some hard questions! We are most grateful to all those people who have given freely of their time to make this evening possible. We hope that you all enjoy the Careers Fair, and ask you to complete the feedback form at the back of this programme to let us know how we can make the event even better next time. David Blow, Headteacher
Sponsor: The Ashcombe School PTA is proud to have supported every Careers Fair held at The Ashcombe School. The PTA also hosts educational evenings, provides social opportunities for parents to meet through quiz evenings and dances, gives equipment and resources to the school, organises the supply of the school uniform, and runs a popular 250 Club. The PTA warmly welcomes support from parents who would like to contribute to the school by offering their help in any way so as to benefit the whole school community. U-Xplore workshop in R11 throughout the evening
U-Xplore All secondary schools in Surrey now have access to a careers website called U-Xplore. This provides an excellent basis for careers research, allowing students to investigate specific types of jobs and more general areas of working life. All students are entitled to access U-Xplore, but they will need to complete the registration process. To register students need to: Go to the following web address http://www.uxplore.com/website/# Click on the orange tab titled “Launch U-Xplore” At this point students will need to register, so they need to click on “Not Registered yet?”. If students have registered they should know their user name and password. The registration code is 64050. The advice from U-Xplore is to use the same username and password students have on the school network. U-Xplore provides a good resource to look through detailing a vast range of future courses and careers.
