Dear Colleagues, We warmly welcome you with the following programme to the 16th International Working Days for Anthroposophical Art Therapy! In the course of the last year, we studied the question as to how human beings enter life and leave it again in relation to the clinical pictures of ADHD/ASD and dementia/ Alzheimer’s, taking account of biographical aspects and the anthroposophical understanding of the human being. We intend to continue with this theme at this year’s conference by studying how art therapies can enable a healthy relationship between the body and spirit-soul through the rhythmical system and heart forces. Particularly with regard to the clinical pictures of ADHD/ASD and dementia/Alzheimer’s, the specific question arises as to the way that the soul and spiritual entities in the human being combine with the body and how they detach themselves from that connection again. We see it as important that it should be possible to experience out of the different arts how this process specifically occurs so that we can find a therapeutic response to the situations in which the above disorders occur. In accordance with suggestions from participants at the previous conference, we would like to strengthen such practical relevance through concrete examples from our own work. Interdisciplinary seminar groups will enable active, subject-related discussion. For the first time, we will offer two moderated FORUMS for the ADHD/ASD and DEMENTIA/ALZHEIMER’S fields of work. The art therapists present, their experience in practice, as well as their observations and forward-looking impulses regarding this topic, will contribute to determining the content of and procedures in these groups. Where do we stand in these fields of work and how can we develop new aspects “here and now” in exchanging our experiences? All seminar groups will focus on discussion. The working groups have the goal of providing an experience of the subject through practical activity. The daily lectures will deepen our background understanding of these clinical pictures from a medical and anthroposophical understanding of the human being. Sebastian Weiss, Siegward-Markus Elsas A Goethean approach to dementia and ADHD – possibilities of access through music therapy How do we approach children with ADHD and the elderly with dementia? How can we understand the polar changes in the cerebral metabolism in these disorders? What may they mean for the patients themselves – what tasks and challenges arise for the social environment? What support can music therapy contribute? (German, English) 2. Dr. med. Kaspar H. Jaggi, Barbara Jaggi-Sidler Nurturing our heart as a sense organ of inner perception Through hygienic eurythmy exercises on our own instrument, we want first and foremost to discover and contemplate heart forces which belong to the foundations of the therapist’s work, particularly with AD(H)D patients. Michaela Glöckler ADHD and dementia How can precise observation of the situation of the human component elements contribute to providing reliable assistance in the art therapy process? Dr. Silke Kirch With all my heart – in relation to the dementia patient Supportive relationships vitalise and open up the soul space and allow us to share in all that is more than we are ourselves. How do we establish a relationship with the dementia patient – above all at an advanced stage? What resources can we draw on and how can we help the other person to establish a relationship – both with themselves and others? What role does art play? (Max. 15 participants, German)

6. Moderation Ulrike Gerharz ADHD/ASD forum The course of this forum will be determined by the participants. We will open and close the discussion space each day with short attentiveness exercises which will connect us directly with the fields of work. (Max. 16 participants, German) 7. Moderation Dr. med. Christiane Bonhage Forum: The heart forces as a relationship-creating element surrounding patients with dementia In this moderated forum we want to gather the experiences of the participants and combine them into an overall picture for the support of patients with dementia. (Max. 20 participants, German) 8. Moderation Gerda Gabriel Professional forum for anthroposophical art therapy: exchange, needs, networking The aim of this professional forum is to record and prioritise current resources, wishes, conditions, difficulties and solution approaches of our art therapy colleagues with regard to everyone’s own professional situation. What is most important right now? What can wait? A work remit can be formulated on that basis and the first concrete steps can be taken so that art therapy is increasingly integrated into medical treatment and prevention. Thea Giesen, Marijke de Mare From courage to trust, the path of the heart How can we create harmony in ourselves and in social life if the heart of the child is too open (ADHD) or too closed (ASD)? Creating greater balance in thinking, feeling and the will by working together. Kick-sova.nl: artistic and social training using drawing, modelling, movement exercises and stories for children and adolescents aged 10–16 with developmental problems. Maria Mlosch Possible ways of pictorial art therapy for challenging, restless and special children We will concern ourselves with the development-related prerequisites of pictorial art therapy for children in the second septennium, look at and discuss pictures from case studies (incl. ADHD/ASD), and ourselves try out various approaches and ways of painting with water colours for such children. If you so wish, please bring your own apron. Edmond Schoorel The chronological process in art therapy with children diagnosed as having ADHD and ASD / Het tijdsproces in de kunstzinnige therapie bij kinderen met ADHS en ASS ADHD und ASD are both similar and opposite as clinical pictures. An ADHD child has too little restraint and a child with ASD too much. We want to show the approach which can be adopted with such children, with explanations, discussion, short presentations and practical exercises. Painting (wet-on-wet technique) and modelling. We want to investigate together how through music and singing therapy exercises, combined with breathing movement, a better connection with the body can be established with regard to the symptoms of ADHD und dementia. Truus Vermeulen, Elze Van Dreven-Prins Medical painting therapy in light, colour and darkness as developed by Liane Collot d‘Herbois Free weaving colours between the airy and the watery qualities of the atmosphere, created by the spiritual forces of light and darkness, are, in our soul, the moving moods. They fluctuate between our thinking and our willing. In the physiological processes of the human being, these cosmic laws of the colour movements work as rhythms between breathing

and circulation of the blood, whereby the heart, as an inner colour space, forms the centre. In the case of both the ADHD child and the older person with dementia, these processes are disturbed. Working in light and darkness with charcoal and painting on moist paper, we will make a therapeutic step from therapy series made by the patients. Patricia Anderle, Tatiana Senatori, Annamaria Saccuman Incarnation/excarnation: the human path Starting from the observation of the painting works of patients affected by cognitive disorders, we propose an artistic group of watercolour painting on dry paper to experience how colour can stimulate the soul forces in the link with the physical body. Susanne Gassler, Ulrike Reisiger Tri-Tra-Tralala, soul and spiritual experience in the puppet theatre – Puppetry; improvisation; speech, breathing, theatre exercises – We will act out small scenes with hand puppets and make soul and spiritual aspects visible through the puppets. We will experience how in ADS and ADHD children the sounds of language – vowels and consonants – and gestures act back on the speaker through the breathing. Our speakers Patricia Anderle – Took a degree in medicine and surgery with specialisation in psychiatry at the University of Padua, attended the school of art therapy Scuola di Luca in Florence. She is in charge of the out-patients‘ section of the department of mental health in Monselice-Conselve, where she also works with art therapy. She teaches art therapy at the Scuola di Luca, Florence, and she is a member of the board of directors and co-founder of Associazione Eracle in Padova. Solco Aurig – Born 1968; after leaving school went to study cello in Vienna; from 1991 music therapy studies in Zeist (NL). From 1994 to the present has been working as music therapist and teacher in curative education. Since 2007 part-time training as a clown. Additional artistic activity as a cellist in various ensembles. Stefanie Aurig – Born 1967; after leaving school, two years of education and music studies, then study of music therapy in Berlin and Zeist (NL). Music therapist in Camphill in Holland, subsequently in private practice alongside her role as a mother. From 2004–2008 singing therapy studies. Since then work as a singing therapist and lecturer of singing therapy. Additional activity as singer and flautist in various ensembles. Dr. med. Christiane Bonhage – Study of medicine, obtaining doctorate in 1992. Clinical work in the fields of radiology, surgery, neurology, geriatric internal medicine,

rehabilitation (spinal injuries and early rehabilitation), intensive care medicine, psychiatry. Specialist in psychiatry and psychotherapy (depth psychology); additional qualification in psychotherapy (behavioural therapy including group therapy). Graduate of the anthroposophical medical seminars in Filderstadt and Herdecke. Since 1997 in anthroposophical departments, currently working in the neurological department of Herdecke community hospital. Lecturer at Witten/ Herdecke University. Member of the General Anthroposophical Society, the Society of Anthroposophical Physicians in Germany (GAÄD), the German Society for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (DGPPN) and the multidisciplinary working group of outpatient dementia clinics (MAGDA). Uwe Buermann – Born 1968 in Oldenburg. Trained class teacher with handicrafts as a subsidiary subject. Ten years of teaching in Hamburg and Kiel as a computer studies and mathematics special needs teacher. Has worked for the last 17 years as a freelance lecturer. Elke Dominik – Has worked since 1966 in the plastic arts in Dornach and since 1980 in plastic art therapy training and

Siegward-Markus Elsas – Hobby musician (cello and piano); medical studies at UWH; basic research in the neurosciences in Berkeley, San Francisco and Los Angeles (specialist medical training); teaching and research in complementary medicine in Portland/Oregon; has worked most recently in the anthroposophically based psychiatric department of the Friedrich Husemann Clinic in Buchenbach. Gerda Gabriel – Born 1957; since 1980 artist and lecturer on art courses. In 2005 training at the M. Hauschka School Bad Boll. In 2007 own practice. In 2009 study on special needs children. In 2012 exercise instructor for creative stress management (BVAKT), work at two state special needs schools as well as in the palliative care department of Ludwigsburg Clinic, member of the “Therapeutikum Öschelbronn”. Susanne Gassler – After school, training as a creative speech artist at the Goetheanum, advanced training in speech therapy in Alfter. Barbara Jaggi-Sidler – Special education teacher, eurythmist, mother of two grown-up daughters. Practical experience in special education, social therapy, art and hygienic eurythmy, singing and in general medical practice. Walter Kapfhammer – Born 1954. Attended courses in anthroposophic medicine during his medical studies and was active in the anthroposophical student group. Two years as an assistant physician with Dr. H.-H. Vogel at the WALA medicines producer; medical work in a naturopathic rehabilitation clinic; five years as a physician at the Paracelsus hospital in Unterlengenhardt; since 1997 GP practice in Göppingen. Close collaboration with the painting therapist Anita Eiermann-Kapfhammer. Member of the Society of Anthroposophical Physicians in German (GAÄD) since 1989; 2005–2008 additional training in eurythmy therapy at the Paracelsus Centre in Unterlengenhardt.

Anita Eiermann-Kapfhammer – Born 1954. Trained as a nurse at Würzburg university clinic. Training as specialist nurse in psychosomatics, psychiatry, psychotherapy at Ulm university clinic. One-year painting course at the Bad Boll Free Art School; many years of painting studies with Gerard and Elisabeth Wagner and Caroline Chanter/Dornach; painting therapy training with Heilgart Umfried/Unterlengenhardt, Caroline Chanter, Gerhard and Elisabeth Wagner. Seven years ago started working as a painting therapist in her own studio. Dr. Silke Kirch – Studied German, art education and psychoanalysis in Frankfurt. Advanced art therapy training at Alanus University in Alfter near Bonn. 2010–2013 art therapy with dementia patients in Aja-Textor Goethe House, Frankfurt. Lives with two children and writes for the magazine Info3, among others. Ulli Kleinrath – Since 1985 art therapist at the Herdecke community hospital. Specialisms: psychosomatics with children and adults. Active in art therapy training and advanced training. Marijke de Mare – Since 1999 lecturer at Leiden College, art therapy training. Thirty years ago worked as a Waldorf teacher, then study of art therapy in Blaubeuren, work in schools as well as in child and adolescent psychiatry. Additional activity as a coach for personal and creative development in an office for job coaching. Own art therapy practice. Maria Mlosch – Born 1955; pupil at Zurich R. St. school. Training: social education worker OHR, Goetheanum painting course, art therapist SVAKT. Many years of experience in social therapy and curative and special education; since 2000

active as an art therapist with children and adolescents in special needs schools and in own practice. Two adult children. Roswitha Ockeloen – Trained as a teacher and curative education teacher, subsequently also as an art therapist. She was an art lecturer for adults and in her spare time developed movable wooden pictures for children. From 1990 to 2006 she worked as an art therapist in curative education with children with developmental disabilities and autism. She has worked at the “Kindertherapeutikum” since 1998. Ulrike Reisiger – Creative speech student. Victoria Ryan – Born in Toronto (CA), grew up in Vienna. Trained as a curative education teacher; music therapy studies at the “Musiktherapeutische Arbeitsstätte” Berlin. From 1986 to 2012 music therapist and music teacher at the Karl Schubert school in Vienna; now works in independent practice. Advanced training in the field of curative education, music therapy, music, eurythmy therapy, rural conservation; lecturer on various training courses.

Emmichoven Clinic in Holland. Worked from 1983 to 1990 as a paediatrician in a consultancy institute and as a school physician. Since 1996 at the “Kindertherapeutikum”, an anthroposophical institute for diagnosis, treatment and parental support which works on a multidisciplinary basis. Prof. Dr. med. Peter Selg – Born 1963. Director of the Ita Wegman Institute for Basic Research into Anthroposophy (Arlesheim/Switzerland) and professor of medical anthropology and ethics at Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences (Alfter near Bonn). He has published numerous basic works on the life and work of Rudolf Steiner.

Annamaria Saccuman – Studied art therapy at the Scuola di Luca in Florence. She is a co-founder of Associazione Eracle in Padova, an association for anthroposophical art therapy in public institutions. Dr. med. Edmond Schoorel – Trained as a paediatrician in Rotterdam and Leiden (1980), senior physician at the University of Leiden until 1981. Tatiana Senatori – Studied art therapy at the Scuola di Luca in Florence. Now she is a teacher at the school and a member of the board of directors. Elze Van Dreven-Prins – Qualified art therapist (Diploma). After her training in accordance with the Hauschka method, she trained at the “Emerald Foundation” NL. She has worked in accordance with this method for 12 years both with children and adults. She joined the “Therapeutikum Naarden\Bussum” in 2006. Truus Vermeulen – Graduated in painting therapy as developed by Liane Collot d‘Herbois at the “Emerald Foundation”, Den Haag/NL, where she nowadays instructs students. She worked individually with children at a Waldorf school for 12 years and since last spring also at another Waldorf school. The therapy with adults takes place in her private practice.

Music therapist at the Friedrich Husemann Clinic 2000/2001, from 2001 at the Öschelbronn Clinic und the “Therapeutikum Öschelbronn”, works as a freelance musician and choral conductor. Dr. med. Johannes Wilkens – Born 1962. Doctor of classic homoeopathy and anthroposophic medicine.
