Monday, June 3, Royal Wedding Stage Stars Tom and Ellen Bowen (Fred Astaire and Jane Powell) embark to open their music and dance show in England. Ellen is a female Don Juan and doesn’t take dancing as seriously as Brother Tom; but on shipboard she meets her match, Lord John Brindale (Peter Lawford). After arriving in London, confirmed bachelor Tom auditions and is taken with cool dancer Anne Ashmond (Sarah Churchill). Will romance break up the act? Monday, June 10, Pearls of Pauline Fun loving Pearl White (Betty Hutton), working in a garment sweatshop, gets her big chance when she “opens” for a delayed Shakespeare play. Wednesday, June 5, 3:00pm Jo Northup performs on the Flute and Hammered Dulcimer-Robinson Hall Jo is a classically trained flutist who studied at The Florida State University. She has performed with several orchestras, including the Raleigh Symphony and was the principal flutist of the Blue Ridge Civic Orchestra in Asheville. In 1989, she began playing the hammered dulcimer while working with Dulcimer Dan and the Blue Skies Band in Raleigh. Jo has performed professionally for over 30 years, providing background music for many private events. In 1993 she made her first recording, Candlelight Christmas, with guitarist, Richard Birt. Since then they recorded a collection of traditional, familiar and original songs entitled Sweetwater and a recording of hymns, Candlelight Hymns. Thursday, June 6, 4:00pm David Krawiec, Guitarist-Alibi Café Come to Asbury Afternoons on Thursday June 6th at 4:00 and you will hear Guitarist David Krawiec. David has been teaching and playing guitar in North Carolina for over five years. He began his classical study under Edward Stephenson at Meredith College, and is currently a student of Joseph Pecoraro at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Friday, June 7, 3:00pm Diana Long’s Missions Trip to Peru-Robinson Hall A medical team, coordinated by Knollwood and Ardmore Baptist Churches, went to Huaraz, Peru in April for a week. The group had three separate teams: one for medical, one for dental, and one for eyeglasses. They worked with a local church who provided the space and local volunteers to serve the people. They served more than 800 individuals in the eye clinic. The group arrived at 8:30 each morning, and folks were wrapped around the block, arriving as early as 4a.m and travelling over an hour. Monday June 10 at 7:00 in Fellowship Hall the Barter Players from Abingdon, VA's famous Barter Theater will perform the one act play “One Thousand Cranes.” Sadako, a survivor of the Hiroshima bombing nonetheless falls victim to its aftermath. This true story of a child's personal quest for healing has become a clarion call for peace throughout the world. As performed by the Barter Players the story takes flight elegantly, rhythmically, and profoundly. The actors, all recent college graduates, were chosen by Barter Theater from among thousands who auditioned to become members of the Barter Players. Tuesday, June 11, 7:00pm Solomon Eichner, Pianist-Fellowship Hall Leave from Ferree Entrance at 6:30pm. Equally at home with solo repertoire and chamber music, Solomon Eichner is rapidly emerging as an exciting versatile young artist. Thursday, June 13, 3:00pm Afternoon of Arias by the American Singers Opera Project- Robinson Hall In 2010, now a two week workshop featuring a fully staged opera, the American Singers Opera Project moved to the prestigious Wake Forest University Campus. We are excited about their excellent facilities and beautiful campus, and proud to be a part of the summer programs offered at this important institution. In 2012 American Singers Opera Project expanded the workshop to include a chamber orchestra for the opera production. In 2013 they added an "Intro to Opera" workshop, designed for the High School student interested in a career in opera. We welcome these high school students to Arbor Acres for an afternoon of Arias. Join them in Robinson Hall. Friday, June 14th,Noon Colorguard-Dining Room Flag Day! Mr. Craven will come to the dining room and have a presentation of the colors and also play the National Anthem and Taps. Friday, June 14, 3:00pm Ragtime Pianist Paul Stewart-Robinson Hall Paul Stewart is Professor of Music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. His longtime interest and research into Ragtime piano music culminated in his 2007 CD titled “Rhythm and Rags”. Professor Stewart has given Ragtime workshops, pedagogical sessions and performances for numerous Teacher’s Associations and Ragtime Festivals. His program today will include Rags by Scott Joplin: “The Maple Leaf Rag,” “The Entertainer,” “Weeping Willow,” “Pineapple Rag,“ “Solace,” “Scott Joplin’s New Rag,” and “Magnetic Rag” plus “Ragtime Nightingale” by Joseph Lamb and “Dill Pickles” by Charles Johnson. Other selections will be works influenced by Ragtime and include Claude Debussy’s Cakewalks, the Novelty Piano style of Felix Arndt and Zez Confrey, and the music of George Gershwin. Saturday, June 15, 1:00pm Harpist Taylor Ann FleshmanAlibi Café Music has been a part of Taylor Ann’s life from the time she was three years old in Ontario, Canada. Her mother and father marveled at her skipping through the house singing, “Heaven Came Down and Glory Filled My Soul”. Taylor Ann performed as a member of the Winston-Salem Youth Symphony, and the Greensboro Youth Symphony. Wednesday, June 19, 3:00pm Wedding Reception-Alibi Café Come join in the fun for a mock wedding reception on Wednesday, June 19th. We would like to have a display of your wedding pictures so bring your pictures to Tori’s office on Tuesday June 18 from 3-3:30 and remember to put your name on them. Thursday, June 20, Noon- Men’s Club Luncheon-Robinson Hall How would it feel to hear your great-great grandmother tell about her life? Most of us would love to hear the experiences our ancestors had, who influenced the decisions they made, and how they felt about their lives. Our great-great grandchildren will be just as interested to hear our stories. Join us June 20th at Noon at Men’s Club for a presentation about various methods we can use to pass on our personal history. We will discuss how to start this process and helpful resources to make it simpler. Our speaker, Rose Ann Wade, is the owner of Pass the Memories. Rose Ann helps individuals preserve their personal histories by creating narrated video from scanned photographs. She has spoken before genealogical societies, hospice groups, The Shepherd's Center, and others with ideas concerning how to save our family stories. Rose Ann believes it is a terrible waste when one generation does not learn from their predecessors, and has created Pass the Memories to help interested individuals save their personal histories.

Tapas originated in a bar in Spain as way to keep flies out of the glass, they topped the glass with a small plate, usually a tasty treat; hence the word tapas is Spanish for top! Friday, June 21, Noon Luau Lunch~ Dining Room. 3:00pm Beach Music with First in Flight~ Robinson Hall We will start the first day of summer out right with a Luau Lunch in the Dining Room and then continue to celebrate with Beach Music from Tyler Millard in Robinson Hall. Tyler was born in Connecticut, but spent many of his summers in North Carolina when he was growing up. He loved his time here so much that he moved to Wilmington in 2003 to attend UNCW, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees, both in Mathematics. He plays a mix of his own music along with classic hits. Come and join us this afternoon and be sure to wear your coolest most colorful attire and we’ll provide the leis. Tuesday, June 25, 7:00pm Vocalist: Kim Harrison- Robinson Hall On Tuesday June 25th, vocalist Kim Harrison will be performing a program of your favorite Broadway tunes. From shows like Oklahoma! The Sound of Music and My Fair Lady, to Cats, South Pacific and more, their songs and stories will be a true night of entertainment. Just close your eyes sit back and relax… On a summer’s evening, you can be transported back in time to the Big Apple and the delights of Broadway!

Wednesday, June 26, 3:00pm Pianist Claire Culbreath-Promenade Claire used to be on staff as a music therapist here at Arbor Acres and her grandmother was a long time resident. Claire has played for us in the past. Please join her on the promenade for some old-fashioned songs and some of her very own musical compositions. Friday, June 28, 3:00pm Pianist Steve Bradford -Robinson Hall Steve Bradford, a native of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has been entertaining audiences and music patrons for over forty years with his distinctive and enjoyable piano renditions. He performed as a solo pianist, with his jazz trio, and has also appeared with the Winston-Salem Symphony Orchestra. His emotion-filled interpretations of light classics and popular hits from the 30's to the present provide a fresh, mellow, and soothing performance experience for both young and old alike. He has applied his years of classical training to bring a special depth and richness to his arrangements of the melodies that have become standards through the years. It is said he makes the piano take on the roles of both the singer and orchestra in his arrangements. Steve is currently working with Broadway’s Best Theatre of NC to create a professional summer stock at the Farmington Road exit of Interstate 40 just outside Advance. He will be the musical director of the theatre that will be opening later this year. WHAT A RELIEF IT IS!
