HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

President’s Message: June looks like another wonderful month at Maumelle Country Club! Our course is in the most beautiful condition that we have ever seen. The new sand traps are draining and playing very well. A special thank you to Jason and his crew for getting our course in such wonderful playing conditions and for hustling the sand trap project into completion before the Four-Ball Tournament. I hope everyone had a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend. It was a great finale to the month of May. We had two of the largest fields ever to play in the Four-Ball, as well as the Maumelle Classic, which is attributable to the great course and staff that run our tournaments. The Board recognizes the numerous tournaments put on the calendar in the month of May and we thank all members for their participation and patience, as tournaments do help in the revenue and success of MCC. Welcome to all of our new members! We are very proud to announce that we added 17 new members during the month of May. Please introduce yourself as you come out to the Club and make the new members feel welcome as we are so happy to have them join. Keep bringing out your friends and guests so you can sponsor a new member and we can add just as many new members in June. Celebrate Dad by bringing him and the entire family out to enjoy the Omelette Bar on Father’s Day. Be sure to book your tee times early as weekends are always especially busy times, and remember to look at your calendar frequently and don’t miss the special events. Thank you to all members for helping to keep the Club grounds and the course clean of cigarette butts and other litter. We are 608 looking good, so let’s help keep it that way. Bring your friends out for dinner, to take a dip in the pool or to enjoy a round of golf. Most of all enjoy yourself and I’ll see you on the course! Your President, Mary Lynn Dickey

MANAGER’S MESSAGE I would like to extend a special “Thank You” to all of the volunteers and staff that put in many long hours to make the Twin City Bank Maumelle Classic, Men’s Four-Ball Championship and all outside events during the month of May a great success! These events brought many guests and prospective members to 814 our Club. All participants had nothing but positive comments about our course and clubhouse operations. Make plans to spend Father’s Day with DAD at the Club on Sunday, June 18th. We will be providing a special “Remember Dad” Omelette Bar featuring ½ price food and beverage for Dad. See the front page for more details. We continue to have positive results from our membership drive! There are many new faces at the Club, so make it a point to introduce yourself and make our new members feel welcome. Don’t forget…the new member incentive program is still in effect. We have had several members take advantage of the program, so get out there and recruit new members to MCC! Congratulations to Maumelle CC “Employee of the Month” for May, Assistant Golf Professional Dustin Hamm. Dustin has done a wonderful job and spent many long hours at the Club during this busy golf season. Thanks for the hard work Dustin!!! Cimarron Grubb General Manager/Golf Professional

From the Pro Shop PGA McGladery Team Championship – June 16th! This new team championship is a result of a new partnership between The PGA of America and RSM McGladrey as the Official Accounting, Tax and Business Consulting Firm of The PGA of America. The format for this 18-hole event is the best one net ball of three players. Amateurs will receive 50% of their handicap allowance adjusted for the course and tees being played. Strokes are taken from the men’s and women’s handicap stroke index. The team must use each player’s score on a minimum of three (3) holes. The total handicap index combined of all three partners will be a maximum of 40.0 if all male, 50.0 if one female, 60.0 if two female, 70.0 if all three female. One team from the Local Qualifying Event will advance to the Section Championship, July 23 at Forest Ridge GC in Broken Arrow, OK. At the Section Championship, the three amateurs will be joined by a PGA Professional from their host facility. The winning team from each Section Championship advances to the National Championship held at Pinehurst Resort, Pinehurst, N.C. held September 10-12, 2007. In order for MCC to participate, we must have a minimum of 21 amateur participants (7 teams of three). Entry fee is $65 per player…sign your team up in the Pro Shop today! Congratulations are in order to the following Maumelle Classic Participants: Neal Westbrook, Open Champion, with an amazing final round of 63; Tracy Harris, Mid-Senior Champion and Doug Farr, Senior Champion! Once again, we had a great representation from our Maumelle Country Club membership. Special thanks to ALL members who participated and volunteered! The MGA Event for June 22nd will be a special Friday Night event that will consist of two 9-hole formats. The first format: 1, 2, 3 best balls will begin at 6:00 pm. Immediately following the first 9 holes will be a cook-out by the 1117 scoreboard. Following the cook-out is when the fun really begins! The remaining 9 holes will be a scramble format played in the dark with glow balls. This event is limited to the first 44 players that sign-up and all players must be signed-up by Friday June 15th so that the staff can order the nitelite supplies. Call the Pro Shop for more info! As stated in the MCC Golf Rules & Regulations, play is generally limited to threesomes, foursomes and fivesomes on weekends and holidays until 3:00p.m. As the tee sheet permits and at discretion of the Pro Shop staff, twosomes and singles may be permitted but should not expect to play through regular groups. The Pro Shop staff also reserves the right to pair up twosomes and /or singles to create a threesome, foursome or fivesome. June is a very busy golf month for MCC, so please check your calendar for all outings and events. Also, please remember to check in with the Pro Shop before proceeding to #1 tee.

MGA NEWS Thanks to all who participated in the President's Cup/Demo Day Tournament and helped make it a huge success. New tee markers have been ordered for the golf course and should be in the ground any day. Please make an effort to keep our tee boxes in good shape by picking up broken 1246 tees and cigarette butts and discarding them properly. We are also asking for a $25 contribution from each MGA member to help pay for the much needed cart path repair on certain holes where tree roots have damaged the asphalt. Please notify Lisa in the business office if you would like to contribute to the repair fund.

MWGA NEWS First, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for helping me and Daryl through this very difficult time in our lives. There is really no way to adequately express our gratitude for your kindness. Thank you for all the food, cards, caring words and for keeping us in your prayers. Your thoughtfulness and generosity lifted our

Congratulations!! James Branson had his first Hole-in-One on hole #8 during the President’s Cup. JD Ashley has sponsored 2 new members this year. Great job!!

Golf Course Update As June begins, we are preparing for the hot summer. As you play you will notice our crew hand watering dry spots on the greens. We call this practice “Wilt Watching” because that is exactly what we are doing. We monitor the turf and when we see symptoms of wilt we water that particular spot. Too much water, especially during the summer, causes many more problems than not enough. We are constantly watching each green to regulate the moisture levels. So, please be patient if a “Wilt Watcher” is watering a green in front of you. He will only be there for a minute and is trying to keep our greens healthy and happy. Good news!! The first phase of our bunker project is complete. It will take a few weeks for all of the new bunkers to mature but they are already a huge improvement to the course. Please continue to pay attention to the cart path rules and the ropes we have throughout the course. Thank you and have a great round!
