CATIA - Generative Assembly Structural Analysis Extend the CATIA - Generative Part Structural Analysis 2 (GPS) product capabilities to the Finite Element Analysis of any type of assemblies.

Product overview CATIA - Generative Assembly Structural Analysis 2 (GAS) extends the capability of the CATIA Generative Part structural Analysis 2 (GPS) product to perform Finite Element Analysis on assemblies. Hybrid assemblies including surfaces, solids assemblies of analysis (i.e. assemblies made-up of parts including analysis specifications) are supported. CATIA - Generative Assembly Structural Analysis 2 (GAS) provides users with a comprehensive set of tools to connect the different parts of an assembly : from a simple contact, to welding, to a user-defined connection. In addition, the seamless integration between design and analysis applications enables users to retrieve connections properties from any V5 design applications such as CATIA - Assembly Design 2 (ASD) for instance. The wide range of connections properties supported contributes to the creation of the most realistic and accurate finite element model. This leads to an increased accuracy of the mechanical behavior simulation of the assembly. Moreover, the ability to perform assembly of analysis is an important contributor to concurrent engineering practices in PLM. This significantly reduces the time to analyze large assemblies represented by single part analyses by introducing a new innovative process to construct individual analysis into

an overall analysis assembly.

Product Highlights Achieves fast and accurate structural and modal analysis of an assembly Integrates assembly constraints and parts' material specifications from design Supports a wide range of connections properties Solves advanced mechanical problems such as bolt tightening and pressure fitting Supports assembly of analysis for unmatched concurrent engineering

vibration analysis of assembly. This permits designers and design engineers to simulate and validate assemblies including surfaces, solids, and wireframe geometries. A wide range of connections properties, defined ... From V5 applications... Users can directly re-use all the assembly connections defined in CATIA Assembly Design 2 (ASD), CATIA - Automotive Body in White 3 (ABF), CATIA - Structure Design 1 (SR1) CATIA Equipment Support Structures 2 in order to perform analyses with GAS product. The generative capability within products permits the update of the analysis as result of a design change. From scratch ... Users can define many types of connections properties, on compatible (if used in conjunction with FMS) and incompatible meshes. The properties available include fastened, contact, slider, rigid, smooth as well as welding properties such as spot, seam and The properties of these connections can be customized in order to create the most realistic and accurate finite element model.

Support of assembly of analysis for unmatched concurrent engineering... The ability to perform Assembly of Analysis is an important contributor to concurrent engineering practices in PLM. For instance, each parts of an assembly can be meshed separately by different users. Theses users can work with CATIA V5 meshing tools or with CAA V5 partners applications because orphan meshes are also supported. Then, the responsible of the overall assembly consolidate the different meshes, connect the parts, applies pre-processing specifications and solve. This significantly reduces the time to analyze large assemblies represented by single part analyses by introducing a new innovative process to construct individual analysis into an overall analysis assembly.

Smart mesh generation... Once a specification is complete, a mesh is automatically generated for each of the specified parts in the assembly. Mesh connections between the part meshes are also created, and the overall results are evaluated. With CATIA Generative Assembly Structural Analysis 2 (GAS), the entire process is automated. Each part is directly meshed and all connections are automatically generated to insure mechanism consistency as a result of a unique joining technology. Advanced mechanical problems resolve... Advanced mechanical problems can be simulated with maximum accuracy. Real mechanical system modelling using bolt tightening and pressure fitting are taken into consideration to improve the accuracy of the assembly analysis solution, including constraints coming from simple to complex manufacturing assembly applications.
