Alma Jantunen Alma Jantunen The Finnish artist Alma Jantunen shows different aspects of her work in this exhibition. They are inspired by nature and are translated in lyrical objects. The “Bonsais” series are based on the Japanese trees, but are translated into colorful objects of different sizes. They reflect the harmony of the trimmed trees, while the different coloring makes each tree unique. In the “Blossom” series again botanical themes serve as inspiration. Based on flowers, the work is made of different colors to construct the delicate objects, which are placed in a container. For the “Landscapes” series, she gets her inspiration in the Finnish landscape. The pieces are a translation of the clouds over the land, the icy sea in which men is trying to keep things going, and the changes induced when the weather or the light changes. The series “Hurricane” is inspired by the effects of a hurricane. It has a destructive nature, but at the start and the end, nature shows it beauty at best. This feeling is translated in wall pieces that reflect its destructive force with furniture being destroyed, the whirling of objects by the winds or the sky when the storm is over. Alma Jantunen’s work is based on the Nordic tradition to take the best of nature and translate it into art that has an eternal value in times to come.

The exhibition runs from 22/11/2014 until 22/02/2015 and is open on weekends between 14:00-16:00 hours or after appointment (++32((0)494285894).
