Step 5: Create Groups (PBT & CBT) • Student groups help you organize students when creating test sessions, and when generating dynamic reports. • Students may belong to more than one group.

73

Alabama Training - Jan 2016

Remaining PBT Steps

Step 6: Test Session Set-up (PBT) • Separate test sessions must be created for each Grade and Subject you are testing in your Organization. If a student is testing 5 subjects, you will create 5 different test sessions in the ACT Aspire Portal.

75

Alabama Training - Jan 2016

Step 7: Receiving and Organizing Materials (PBT) • Save the shipping boxes; you will use them to pack and return your materials.

• All test materials must be kept in a secure location until the day of testing. • There will be one answer document and test booklet for each subject a student is taking. 76

Alabama Training - Jan 2016

Step 8: Start All Test Sessions in the Portal (PBT) • On the day and time that your testing is scheduled to begin, your test sessions in the Portal will move into a “Ready” status. This indicates the system is ready for the session to begin. • Test Sessions can be started individually or multiple sessions simultaneously as shown previously.

77

Alabama Training - Jan 2016

Step 9: Administer the Test (PBT) • After you’ve started the test sessions on the day of testing, you will administer the test. • Sessions are specifically timed by subject; there is a location to record your testing times in the back of the Room Supervisor manual. • Be sure each answer document has the student’s name and Form Code gridded before dismissing the room!

78

Alabama Training - Jan 2016

Step 10: Post-Test Clean Up (PBT) • After all students have completed each of their tests (including make-ups) and you have collected all the test materials and scratch paper, go into the Portal and enter any testing irregularities that occurred and close all test sessions.

Step 7: Test Session Set-up (CBT) • Separate test sessions must be created for each Grade and Subject you are testing in your Organization. If a student is testing 5 subjects, you will create 5 different test sessions in the ACT Aspire Portal.

83

Alabama Training - Jan 2016

Step 8: Pre-Cache CBT Test Content (CBT) • Pre-cache the encrypted test content to a local server. Caching test content locally will help alleviate the strain of testing information passing back and forth to and from the TestNav servers.

84

Alabama Training - Jan 2016

Step 9: Print Student Authorization Tickets (CBT) • Each session will generate a unique set of student log-in credentials by student for accessing TestNav. • You can print the tickets at a school, test session, or individual student level.

• Authorization Tickets must be kept in a secure location prior to testing and each ticket is unique to each student.

85

Alabama Training - Jan 2016

Step 10: Start All Test Sessions in the Portal (CBT) • On the day and time that your testing is scheduled to begin, your test sessions in the Portal will move into a “Ready” status. This indicates the system is ready for the session to begin. • Test Sessions can be started individually or multiple sessions simultaneously as shown previously. • CBT test sessions MUST be started in order for students to log into TestNav.

86

Alabama Training - Jan 2016

Step 11: Administer the Test (CBT) • After you’ve started the test sessions on the day of testing, you will administer the test. • Students will use their Authorization Ticket credentials to log into TestNav and complete their assessments.

87

Alabama Training - Jan 2016

Step 12: Post-Test Clean-Up (CBT) • After all students have completed each of their tests (including make-ups) and you have collected all the Authorization Tickets and scratch paper, go into the Portal and enter any testing irregularities that occurred and close all test sessions.
