1 Overview Africa Food Price Collection Project is an initiative of the African Development Bank Statistics Department and European Commission’s Joint Research Center, in partnership with Knoema. The main objective is to collect prices weekly on agricultural products (including cereals, meat, fish, vegetables, oils, fruits, dairy products and other food items) in Africa using web/mobile based Collection Tool and crowd sourcing techniques. The collected data is being compiled into a comprehensive commodity price dataset and getting published to the Africa Food Prices Collection Portal on a weekly where dataset can be accessed freely. The food prices are getting collected from several markets across all African countries. At a minimum, data is getting collected from two market locations in each African country (1 urban and 1 rural area). The selection of food items for this project is based on the International Comparison Program (ICP) product list that includes items such as staple grains, staple foods, as well as various fuels. This document helps to understand various navigational aspects and contents available in the Africa Food Prices Collection Portal. The portal can be viewed by using the link http://africafoodprices.io.
