Children and Young People – 12 ECTS Pedagogy: Knowledge about the living conditions and well-being of children and young people in relation to cultural, institutional and social conditions, including: Didactics: - Establish professionally well-founded aims and possibilities for action in animation as a learning tool. - Implement and evaluate social education courses with children and young people. Learning: Constructivistic learning theory Aesthetic learning forms Alternative learning forms B.Danish (language), Culture and Communication – 9 ECTS Knowledge about the develop-ment of children and how animation techniques may support the development of language and concepts, including: - language and identity - media theory and genre - analysis, interpretation, assessment and production of animation films - story-telling and narrativity - storyboard C. Expression, Music and Drama – 9 ECTS Knowledge of art and cultural forms of expression as well as insight into Danish art and culture Knowledge and skills in production of different animation forms/techniques Understanding of different animation techniques and genres including their application within social education Skills in analysing and explaining the choice of visual effects in animation films Knowledge about the sensual, emotional, physical and intellectual aspects of the forms of expression

A.The Individual, the Institution and Society `- 15.5 ECTS Students will learn to identify and analyse problem areas and developmental challenges in individual, institutional and societal perspective. Special emphasis is placed on sociological concepts such as institutionalisation, social inheritance, power, normality and deviation, and on gaining insight into current issues of social policy. B. Educational Issues in the Theory and Method of Public Health Sciences – 7.5 ECTS Students will gain insight into and be able to evaluate the relationships between personal health and living conditions, lifestyles and identity. They will achieve an understanding of the significance of educational practice and social pedagogical institutions for these relationships. C.Health, Body and Motion – 7 ECTS Health promotion, preventive health care, creating a culture of wellness, lifestyle, quality of life. Human biology, phenomenology and aesthetics, physical intelligence. Creating a culture of movement, exercise enjoyment, understanding play and games, movement and learning, motor skills and sensory integration. Competition, play, performance, motivation and action competence.

A.Danish pedagogy and democracy in theory and practice: 7 ECTS Knowledge of and skills in: Pedagogy and pedagogical work as learning, development, up-bringing, cultural formation, care and socialisation Views of human nature and understanding of democracy in pedagogical work as in society in general Pedagogical work seen in the context of the Nordic Welfare State Theory and practice on active citizenship and participation of children and young people. Competencies in: Analytical and critical reflections on pedagogy and pedagogical work Understanding the significance of the connection between the pedagogical work and the democratic society in general. B. Outdoor approach to the pedagogical practice: 7 ECTS Knowledge of: The pedagogical possibilities in selected biotypes. How different groups can learn and develop in nature.

Skills in: How to carry out activities with a focus on the Nordic concept of outdoor life. How to organize learning for selected groups in nature. Competencies in: Carrying out different kinds of pedagogical activities in nature with children and youth. How to focus on nature-specific formation as part of the pedagogical work in nature. C.Health, body and movement in pedagogical practice: 7 ECTS Knowledge of: The pedagogical opportunities in relation to physical activities. How do physical activities increase body-consciousness, state of health and need for physical activity and expression? Skills in: Carrying out physical activities. Organizing learning activities in consideration of physiological, health and social conditions. Competencies in: Understanding the importance of physical as well as creative processes in relation to human development and life conditions. Substantiating and expressing health; the potentials of educational movement, experience, culture and health. D. Practical Placement: 7 ECTS Knowledge of: The nature and style of the work carried out at the placement facility as well as knowledge of the physical environment and social climate of the workplace. The people attending the facility and their particular needs as a group. Skills in: How to observe, describe and analyse pedagogical work in practice. How to plan and carry out pedagogical work in relation to a specific group of people. Competencies in: Developing practical and theoretical know-how about pedagogical work. Planning, carrying out and evaluating pedagogical activities.

E. Project – 2 ECTS Based on the experiences from the practical placement, the student will write a report which the student defends at an individual oral examination. Heart, hand, head

Institutional care in Denmark. Introduction to the concepts of inclusion and exclusion. Introduction to problem-oriented interdisciplinary project work and other learning methods. B: Principles of Social Pedagogical Work - 6 ECTS credit points View of human nature. Learning – formal and informal. Head, Heart and Hands - relations, reflections and action/practice. Anthropological, psychological and philosophical theories. C: Art and Culture - 10 ECTS credit points Creative subjects as a facilitating tool in building relations. Skill building in creative arts and crafts (drama, art, and music or sport and movement). Theories of aesthetical processes in pedagogical work. D: Field Work - 6 ECTS credit points Observation and documentation of pedagogical work. Communication and human relations. Field studies and fieldwork. E: Final Report and Evaluation - 4 ECTS credit points Working with comparative analyses between pedagogical work in Denmark and the student’s home country. Danish History and The Way Danish Society Works. A brief survey of Danish history from The Viking Age to the present seen in its interaction with especially the other Nordic countries. Danish society with special emphasis on the democratic traditions specific for Danish politics and mentality. Danish Language There will be an intensive "survival" course in everyday Danish at the beginning of the three months in order to enable the students to decipher Danish culture through deciphering the language. Danish Literature, Philosophy, Art and Drama. There will be a specific description of the contents at the beginning of the course. Prominent figures like H.C. Andersen, N.F.S. Grundtvig, S. Kierkegaard and Asger Jorn will be included. As an extra course, the international students will be introduced to and given the opportunity to participate in the cultural theatre project “In the Company of Shakespeare: A Work in Progress”. School and Education in Denmark. There will be an introduction to the thinking behind the Danish school system also concerning children with special needs. This part of the course will include visits to schools and teacher practice at both folkeskoler (Danish municipal primary and lower secondary schools) and efterskoler (Danish continuation/boarding schools).
