Overview of WSAA The Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA) is the peak body of the Australian urban water industry. Its members and associate members provide water and wastewater services to approximately 16 million Australians and to many of our largest industrial and commercial enterprises. Urban water service providers have a critical role in ensuring that Australians have access to adequate and high quality water services. As Australia’s population continues to grow, with most of this growth occurring in cities, that role becomes increasingly important. WSAA’s vision is for Australian urban water utilities to be valued as leaders in the innovative, sustainable and cost effective delivery of water services. WSAA strives to achieve this vision by promoting knowledge sharing, networking and cooperation amongst members. WSAA identifies emerging issues and develops industry-wide responses. WSAA is the national voice of the urban water industry, speaking to government, the broader water sector and the Australian community. Copyright This document is copyrighted. EXECUTI VE SUM M ARY

Hawle E2 PN 16 resilient seated gate valves were previously appraised in WSAA Appraisal PA 4/03 published in July 2004. This Appraisal was withdrawn for administrative reasons in 2011. Hygrade Water has now re-submitted the Hawle E2 PN 16 resilient seated gate valves (RSVs) for appraisal. The valve range is the same design as those originally appraised. Type test reports to AS/NZS 2638.2 have been satisfactorily completed for the range of valves included in this report. E. Hawle Armaturenwerke GmbH (Limited Liability Company) is based in Vocklabruck, Austria. Hawle is a leading manufacturer of valves and pipeline fittings for the water and gas industries, with plants and subsidiary operations throughout Europe and was the manufacturer of the first resilient seated gate valve in the world. This appraisal covers RSVs in the following sizes and end configurations: • DN 100, 150 & 200 Fl/Fl, anti-clockwise closing. • DN 100, 150 & 200 Soc/Soc, anti-clockwise closing. • DN 100, 150 & 200 Fl/Fl, clockwise closing. • DN 100, 150 & 200 Soc/Soc, clockwise closing. The Hawle E2 range of RSVs has ISO Type 5 Product Certification (StandardsMark) and WaterMark Level 1 certification to AS 2638.2:2011 Gate valves for waterworks purposes, Part 2 : Resilient seated, issued by SAI-Global. Hawle holds an ISO 9001:2008 quality management system licence issued by Quality Austria, an IQ Net member and Hygrade Water holds an ISO 9001:2008 quality management system licence issued by Global-Mark. When used in water supply and recycled water installations; subject to design and installation compliance with both the manufacturer’s requirements and the Water Supply Code of Australia (WSA 03-2011) the Hawle E2 RSV range has a life expectancy in excess of 30 years before replacement. When used in sewer pressure main installations conveying “typical” sewage; subject to design and installation compliance with both the manufacturer’s requirements and the Sewerage Code of Australia (WSA 02-2002) and Pressure Sewerage Codes of Australia (WSA 07-2007) as amended the Hawle E2 RSV range has a life expectancy in excess of 30 years before replacement. Typical sewage is considered to be non-saline, with pH >6.0 and a magnesium content
