Current Competitive Gymnasts
Individual Competition. Team competition if more than two teams Routines from current WAG Competitive Manual
Retired this year: Gymnast will compete at level last competed at. Ie if the last competition they participated in was level 7 then they compete level 7
Retired One Year: Gymnast may go down one or two competitive Level from when they last competed. Ie, If the last competition they participated in they were level 7 they may compete level 5 or 6.

Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) Competition Requirements
Competition Gymnasts, Due to limited numbers levels may be combined to create competition. Ie, Levels 5&6, 7&8, 9&10. Once entries are received this will be confirmed. * No gymnast who has ever competed in WAG Level 4/STEP 4 or above can compete in Levels 1, 2 or 3. No gymnast who has competed WAG Level 2-3/STEPs 2-3 can compete in Levels 1 or 2. Level 1 is for athletes who have never competed before in a club gymnastics competition. It is recommended that students choose a level they are comfortable with and can achieve and then work on progressing up the levels as sills are obtained.
NOTE: For all Women’s Artistic Gymnastic competition requirements, including specific apparatus and artistic deductions, and the International and Level routines refer to the WAG Sport Development Committee STEP Manual which is available on the GSNZ website

Introductory Level 1 – Optional for Regional Championships BEAM: Level 1

4 high toe walks

Straight jump
Walk to end of beam, Jump ½ turn dismount
Mount beam by stepping on from side or end (using box top or spring board), hold pose ( 2 seconds) optional arms, weight on one leg with toe of other leg touching beam.
Straight leg walks on high toes
Turn to face side on to beam on high toes, lower heels, bend on knee and step remaining leg to one side in straight position (optional arms), Step feet together facing same way down beam,
Free foot to be placed in front of turning foot, lift on to high toes and pivot (half turn on two high toes) to face back down the beam.
Kick with free leg to be at least 45 degrees to beam.
Arms start from beside body, swing to above head for jump
Straight leg walk to end of beam (not required to be on high toes)

Join feet together at end of beam, swing arms from side of body upwards as straight jump off end of beam (higher than level of beam) to half turn and land.

Three steps to Cat leap.

Forward roll to tuck balance on feet
Roll back in to tuck then stretch to dish hold (2 sec), roll over to momentary dish on stomach lift to front support (2 sec hold)
Lower knee and lift opposite leg to knee Scale, hold, swing up to stand.

Option 1: Cartwheel to finish facing sideways then ¼ turn step together

Dismount – Straight Jump
Jump to front support, lift leg over to stride sit, pose. Keeping hands on beam, swing legs up to land with feet on beam in crouch. Rise up to stand.
4 Step Kicks with free leg getting to a minimum of 90° on each kick
Lower to place hands and one knee on beam. Lift free leg as high as possible at back, Hold. Swing free leg down, lift up body and place foot on beam. Stand
Take one or two steps to Cat leap, arms optional
Step ½ turn on one foot (high toe) with free toe by knee. Place this foot in front of turning foot at end of turn. Then pivot on both feet (high toes). There may be a small pause between turns.
Step to lift back leg to a minimum of 45 degrees. Keep chest upright, and legs straight. Arms optional
Run to end of beam, jump both feet together on the end of beam, to jump off, show straight body arms above head, to land on mats.

Straight Jump to Hand stand Flat Back From short run straight jump to stand on 60cm crash mats or 2 layer box. From stand perform handstand flat back on crash mats
Front Salto Stand on box top, jump off mini tramp to tuck salto (forward roll with no hands) to land on crash mat. (landing not judged)
Straight Jump to Round off Dismount With a 3 layer box set long ways, run and straight jump on to end, swing to handstand on the end of box and half turn to dismount to stand facing box.

¾ handstand, ie one leg goes up to vertical and other leg goes to horizontal (legs do not join) does not have to reach handstand but both feet must leave beam
Step ½ turn on one foot (on high toe) with free toe by knee. Place this foot in front of turning foot at end of turn. Then pivot on both feet (high toes). Turns need to be connected, no stop inbetween them
Option 1: Tuck Jump with knees reaching horizontal or above
Arabesque with back leg to a minimum of 45°
Chasses on left leg then chasse on right leg or right then left
Option 1: Jump full turn dismount from end of beam

Please Note: BEAM:
Dance may be added to routines. Level 2, 3 and 4 can be done in any order. Routines must be under 80 seconds. Mount Options: Jump from two feet to land in crouch Jump to front support, lift leg over to stride sit, swing legs up to crouch. Leap from one foot to land standing on beam with other leg extended behind. Jump from two feet to forward roll along beam. Your choice but Mount must show some difficulty. FLOOR: Dance may be added to routines. Level 2, 3 and 4 can be done in any order. Routines may be done to music. Routine must be under 90 seconds. *Acro Example Options One Acro - Standing Flic Flac, Backward walkover, Punch Front Tuck, Forward walkover, Tick-Tock, Barani, Handspring Two Acro’s Level 3 - Round off Flic Flac, Chartwheel-backward walkover, Forward walkover chartwheel, Backward roll to Handstand Two Acro’s level 4 - Backward walkover flic flac, Roundoff back tuck salto, Handspring chartwheel, Tick tock flick flac, Roundoff flick flac
BAR: Things to note: Stoop through can be performed with a bent knee to 45 degrees.
OPTIONS: Please choose one of the options. Some option have a bonus value, some options are worth the same. Depending on which option you choose will depend on how much bonus is added to the score. It is better to choose the skill you are best at and can perform well as this will achieve the least performance deductions.
