2014 Pawtucket Red Sox SUMMER Internship Program The Pawtucket Red Sox, Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, are currently in search of interns to begin work no later than MAY2014. This internship is designed to offer students studying any discipline the opportunity to garner significant marketing/sales, event management, customer service and public relations experience with a premier, Triple-A minor league baseball team. For over 36 years, the Pawtucket Red Sox have established themselves at the upper echelon of national professional sports franchises. During difficult economic times the Pawtucket Red Sox were able to draw over 500,000 fans to McCoy Stadium and were one of the highest attended minor league baseball franchises in the country. Qualified candidates, who receive the opportunity to intern with the ball club, are expected to accentuate and uphold the tremendous reputation upon which the Pawtucket Red Sox has been built. Application procedure & requirements for interested candidates: • • • • • • • • •

Candidates must be enrolled as a full time student at a college or university. Candidates must be receiving credits from the college or university while conducting the internship. Candidates interested in the internship opportunities must be available for 25-40+ hours per week and will be required to work days, nights and weekends. Furthermore, candidates must demonstrate the ability to make the internship their top priority for the summer months. Candidates are required to have their own means of transportation to and from the stadium. Candidates are required have their own housing in the area. Compensation will be an hourly wage (+ commission, if applicable) The position begins no later than May 19th and lasts until the end of the season or until the individual candidate needs to return to school. Pawtucket Red Sox 2014 Internship Description The Internship positions provide qualified candidates the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the selling and promotion of a professional sports team. The interns will work directly with several members of the PawSox Staff. All selected candidates must possess ability to market and sell various products offered by the Pawtucket Red Sox Baseball Club, Inc. As an Intern, you will be working in the following areas: • TICKET OPERATIONS • MERCHANDISING • EVENT MANAGEMENT • CUSTOMER SERVICE • ADMINISTRATION • GAME DAY STAFF • COMMUNITY OUTREACH • GROUP SALES Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: Ticket Operations: 1. 2. 3. 4.

Learning, operating and troubleshooting various aspects of the PawSox ticket office operations. Develop a complete working knowledge of the entire PawSox ticketing system and computer database. Taking ticket orders through various means: window sales, telephone sales & web site ticket orders. Working closely with the group sales department to communicate availability of advanced tickets for all 72 PawSox home games. 5. Manage all aspects of the PawSox Birthday Parties, Scout Sleepovers, etc.. 6. Balancing day of game ticket sales with daily monetary transactions. 7. Upkeep and inventory of the necessary equipment in the ticket operations.

Event Management: 1. Assigned to oversee, construct, manage and implement one of the PawSox Special events here at McCoy 2. Working directly with the staff person who oversees the event you shall serve as the project manager for the task

Team Store Operations: 1. Overall operations of the store including assisting customers, operating cash registers, inventory control, stocking and cleaning. 2. Involvement in all aspects of purchasing and receiving. 3. Working with and managing game day employees for the merchandising operation. 4. Assist with the PawSox web site merchandising & e-commerce operations.

Customer Service: 1. Represent the organization at various locations throughout the State of Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. 2. Represent the club during games and or events, at our Fan Center, answer and address any questions and/or concerns they may have. 3. Meet and greet various groups at home games during the upcoming season, welcome and thank them for coming to McCoy Stadium. 4. Prepare all necessary materials for any meet and greet opportunities during the season.

Administration: 1. Serve as the receptionist on all office duties 2. Answering all incoming calls, answering any inquiries, taking phone ticket sales 3. Making group sales calls from the administration desk.

Game Day Staff: 1. Work with ushering staff to ensure fans are courteously directed to their appropriate seating locations 2. Able to answer fans inquiries 3. IF necessary serve as the mascot at game day event Community Outreach: 1. Serve as a member of the Pawsox Street Team 2. Plan appearances throughout the region for Street Team 3. Coordinate with the community relations staff, both game day and non-game appearances for the Pawsox Mascots 4. Effectively promote the Pawsox as a family friendly destination at all community appearances

Group Ticket Sales: 1. Cold-call area businesses and cultivate sales with an inventory of group tickets, season tickets, barbecue tents, hospitality suites and pre-game function rooms. 2. Working extensively on the Pawtucket Red Sox ticketing system. 3. Develop a working knowledge of the various ticket offers & inventory for each of the PawSox 72 home games. 4. Other general departmental duties to include: working extensively in the PawSox ticket office, answering incoming group sales calls, conducting mailers of various sizes, participating in lead generating meetings & computer database entry.
