Winning Our primary concern throughout our ministry is to bring people to a personal saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We place a strong emphasis on evangelism as a way of Life, always reaching out to those who are lost.

INSTRUCTING Our desire is to promote personal growth, whether In group settings or in one-on-one relationships. We believe in teaching the principles set forth in God’s Word. Seeking to instill a Christ centered life. We focus on the truth of scripture and its practical application.

SENDING Our ministry is motivated by Jesus command to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel. We take full responsibility to effectively carry the message of God’s love throughout the world by equipping and sending those who are willing to follow this Great Commission.”

ENCOURAGING Our people are the heart of our ministry! Jesus set forth in the New Testament, we are committed to a life of servant hood. Daily our goal is to provide an environment where we can nurture and encourage the body of Christ.

Pastor’s Corner 03 February, 2013 “ And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods. And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.” - Luke 16: 1-2 My dearly beloved “FAMILY” We thank and Praise God for having spared us to cross over to this the beginning days of the second month of 2013, February. It is a month in which we celebrate and observe the contributions of African Americans to American life and history. In reflection without a doubt we have come a long way, but yet we have a long way to go. The past month was rich and rewarding in every way. And although our attendance was down largely due to the changing weather patterns and the accompanying flu epidemic, those who were blessed to be in attendance were blessed by fellowship, the Ministry of inspiring Music, and the proclamation of the Word of God. As we embark upon another month, I want to call to your attention the passage cited above. As Pastors we address a number of matters in our Messages, but seldom do we address and dwell on a matter of STEWARDSHIP. The real truth is that Jesus came teaching and preaching STEWARDSHIP during His earthly ministry. He used the word “steward” or stewardship on numerous occasions. It was not a “sound bite”, but a truth to get his followers both then and now to be properly focused and the privileged associate with being one of His followers, one of his disciples. In the familiar parable, he raised one of the most probing questions in holy writ - What is this I hear about you? Give me an account of your stewardship. The Lord was talking about more than money, He is addressing the whole life of believers. Yes MONEY is important, it is much needed by our Church and Churches to beef up and stay on target with our budget. When people are truly aligned with Christ, they will give their TITHES and OFFERINGS; and freely give of their TIME and TALENTS to advance the cause of Christ. The Question to each of us from the Pulpit to the PEW, from the front Row to the BACK Row - are we being fair with God?? Yes TITHING IS OUR WAY, God expects our TIME, TALENTS and MEANS - STEWARDSHIP this is a bible Doctrine and acknowledges of gratitude. For what God has done, is doing and shall do for us, in Christ Jesus. It is a call to Sacred commitment, mindful of our indebtedness to our Lord. WE ARE DEBTORS. This last point, not only are individual believers in Christ are asked to give on account of their STEWARDSHIP, but ultimately the corporate body, the CHURCH will be held accountable for its’ STEWARDSHIP. The bottom line is not to major in “minor things”, but to major in that which is of eternal value. My prayer is that our Church will embark upon this New Year with renewed determination to LOVE GOD MORE and SERVE HIM BETTER ever mindful of the “DIVINE Call to STEWARDSHIP.” The month of February is now before us. Let this be a month to give our unstinted support to all of our regular Services and special activities. And more importantly as followers of Christ to be fired up on the true Spirit Of Evangelism. Yes each one, win one to Christ in 2013. “Finally, let us continue to be much in prayer for our students in the public schools, colleges or university, our sick and shut-in, bereaved, caregivers, and for suffering humanity everywhere. Also, let us lift up in prayer, President Obama as he gives leadership during these trying and most difficult times, in this his second term of office. Be Blessed, R.M. Leffall, III , Senior Pastor

Ministry Of Music - “Hello” THE RESPONSIVE READING : The Church Covenant Minster: Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God to receive the Lord Jesus as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit; we do now in the presence of God and this assembly most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ. Members: We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this Church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines; and to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the Church, the relief of the poor and the spread of the gospel through all nations. Minister: We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to work circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger, to abstain from the sale and use of intoxicating drink as a beverage, and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the Kingdom of our Savior. Members: We further engage to watch over, to pray for, to exhort and stir up each other unto every good word and work; to guard each other’s reputation, not needlessly exposing the infirmities of others; to participate in each other’s joys, and with tender sympathy bear one another’s burdens and sorrows; to cultivate Christian courtesy; to be slow to give or take offense, but always ready for reconciliation, being mindful of the rules of the Saviour in the eighteenth chapter of Matthew, to secure it without delay; and through life, amid evil report, and good report, to seek to live to the glory of God, who hath called us out of darkness into His marvelous light. Denominational

Dear Church Members, I have really found great favor in my relationship with God. It's been years since I’ve been consistently attending Tabernacle, but i don’t find that it has wavered my personal relationship with God. If anything, I thank the Church for the 18 years that has built my foundation to always come back to God and to know that he'll show me the way. I have to thank you all for you prayers, support, kindness and encouragement. It hasn't been easy, but God always finds a way to get you to where he needs you to be in order to work for his good favor. Also, I have to give a special thanks for the Edna G. White Scholarship Committee. The organization has really helped me financially. Without their support, I wouldn't be on the way to getting my degree. So Thank you very much. I guess that's all for now. Wish me luck out here in this world. Well I'm not really that worried. I know God has my back. Sincerely, Kandis Weatherall

Ralph Bunche (/bʌntʃ/; August 7, 1903 (disputed) or 1904[1][2][3][4] – December 9, 1971) was an American political scientist, academic, and diplomat who received the 1950 Nobel Peace Prize for his late 1940s mediation in Palestine.[2] He was the first African American and person of color to be so honored in the history of the prize.[5] He was involved in the formation and administration of the United Nations and in 1963, was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President John F. Kennedy. For more than two decades, Bunche served as chair of the Department of Political Science at Howard University (1928 to 1950), where he also taught generations of students. He served as a member of the Board of Overseers of his alma mater, Harvard University (1960–1965), as a member of the board of the Institute of International Education, and as a trustee of Oberlin College, Lincoln University, and New Lincoln School. Pastor Ferrell conducted Tabernacle’s first service on the first Sunday in November, 1944 in the Knights of Pythias Hall at 1767 East 103rd Street, Los Angeles. He informed his members that he had purchased the land at the corner of 114th Street and Central and stressed that it would be built the Lord’s way, with tithes, offering and much prayer. In this first service, God, in His wisdom, added one hundred and ninety more persons, who joined in Christian fellowship with the original thirty-eight members. Services continued at this location for several months and appropriately enough, the first wedding was the joining of its Pastor and Miss Esther Nash, on June 10, 1945. This union was blessed with three children, namely: Frederick Douglas, Sheridan Robert, and Stephanie Camille.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a faithful preacher from the South who wanted to change the way people think about others. His words are taught to kids in schools everywhere and the phrase that everyone remembers is, "I have a dream." President Obama fufills part of Dr. King's dream of having an African American president. As stated by President Obama in his inaugural address... "This is the meaning of our liberty and our creed, why men and women and children of every race and every faith can join in celebration across this magnificent mall. And why a man whose father less than 60 years ago might not have been served at a local restaurant can now stand before you to take a most sacred oath."
