WORK PLAN FOR INTERNSHIP & WORKFORCE SERVICES 1.

Background This review is to examine new opportunities and new strategies for growth and development for internships.

Charge and Work Products The Redesign will include the review of the purpose, practices and processes of Internship & Workforce Services to enhance new opportunities and identify strategies for growth and improvement for student learning and provide enhanced services to business/industry employers of Orange and Osceola counties.

Known Constraints, Criteria, or Design Principles Design Principles:  Will be collaborative.  Will ensure college wide participation and engagement.  Will seek input and feedback from Stakeholders and Work Team.  Use Surveys to gain input.  Interact through Focus Groups.  Review current purpose/practices/processes.  Review models at other institutions.  Assist students in choosing a career pathway and/or gain work-based experience.  Will ensure that professional practices/principles of NACE are included Expected Outcomes: A. The Report on the current status of the Practices/Processes of Internship & Workforce Services to include a review of: 1. Recruitment process for employers 2. Recruitment process for faculty teaching Internships 3. Recruitment process of students in Internships 4. Enrollment Data of Students a. Enrollment – Historical and Current b. Student Grading Process c. Process for Award of Grades 5. Interaction with faculty and department deans 6. Interaction with students 7. Funding model of internships (Revenue/Cost) 8. Effectiveness of Valencia’s Web Site for Internship & Workforce Services for students and employers 9. Placement services for Valencia graduates/completers B. The Report will include recommendations for new opportunities and ideas of practices and processes that may be provided by Internship & Workforce Services: 1. Methods to increase engagement and recruitment of Employers. 2. Methods to increase engagement and recruitment of Faculty teaching Internships and Department Deans. 3. Methods to increase internship opportunities for students. 4. Build ownership of internship in academic departments. 5. Reimagine purpose and types of internships with more focus on community engagement. 6. Define internship for potential new opportunities and practices for internships. Procedure & Process: A. Analysis: 1. Review current practices/processes of Internship & Workforce Services in the following areas: a. Recruitment of Employers, Faculty, Students b. Interaction with Department Deans, Faculty, Students and Employers c. Definition and Purpose of Internships 2. Conduct Focus Groups to gain input on new opportunities and practices. B. Design and Development: 1. Design and develop new strategies for purpose, application and growth of internships. 2. Develop a timeline for implementation. 1

C. Implementation: 1. Obtain resources necessary to implement the plan. 2. Implement the Plan within the timeline. D. Evaluation: 1. Obtain feedback from stakeholders annually. 2. Review student data annually. 3. Revise plan when needed. 4.

Communication Plan for Work Meeting Summaries will be the responsibility of the Co-Chairs. Information will be shared by emails and through Team meetings.
