WEEKLY SAFARI PROGRAM IN HOTEL ISOSYÖTE Important to know: Registering for the weekly program the day before by 16.00 (at the reception). Prices include VAT. Children under 12 years: 50 % reduction. All snowmobile safaris include guide services, driving instructions, insurances and fuel. For snowmobile driving an insurance self liability is valid of € 800 per accident. All safaris include guide services, instructions and thermo clothing unless otherwise mentioned. The safaris do not require any previous experience. The mentioned durations are approximate times, depending on weather‐ and track conditions and (driving) capability of the participants. Guaranteed departures unless otherwise mentioned.
Monday Snowmobile safari to wilderness at 14.00 The safari starts from the hotel where the snowmobiles are lined up. The track goes first down hill, and then onwards along fells, through the forest with heavy snow covered trees and over ice covered swamps or lakes. We stop to make a coffee near the campfire. After the break we start the snowmobiles again to drive back up the Iso Syöte hill. Any day – on request ‐ Overnight in a real Snow Igloo On top of the Iso Syöte hill a real snow igloo is built. Experience an Arctic overnight. Outside temperatures can drop down, but inside in the igloo it is just some minus degrees. In a special sleepingbag you will stay warm and cosy, admiring the snow igloo with beautifull covered snowtrees around. Included: One overnight in igloo, all sleeping equipment, breakfast, shower and sauna at the hotel Price: 80 € / person per night. Tuesday Snowmobile safari & husky safari 6 km at 10.00 Safari starts from Hotel Iso Syöte by snowmobile to the place where the huskies are eagerly waiting for visitors. After introduction to the huskies and instruction you take of with the huskies, strongly pulling your sledge. The safari route goes through snowy forests and ice covered swamps in Syöte area. There are stops to switch drivers and to take pictures. Included: Snowmobile safari, husky safari, safari outfit Duration: approx. 3 hours approx. 6 km with huskies Price: 175 € / person (2 adults/ dog team and max 1 child) single driving supplement 35 € / person.
Kicksledge glides and rides at 14.30 A real Finnish way of moving around when snow covers the paths. Kicksledges are big fun to glide down the hill and ‘kicking’ them upwards again with one leg while the other is standing on one glider to hold the grip. It takes some energy and action from yourself but it gives big snowfun on the Iso Syöte hilltop. Your effortst are rewarded when reaching the kota where the campfire will be made and coffee and pulla will be served. Northern light safari at 20.00 A nighttime snowmobile safari has a special atmosphere when driving under twinkling stars on the fells and through the snowy forests. We stop to admire the stars in the sky. We’ll have a coffee break by an open campfire. When you are lucky, you might see the Northern Lights! Wednesday Snowmobilesafari to a frozen lake and ice fishing at 10.00 We start from the hotel by snowmobile to travel through the forest to go to a frozen lake. We bring the gear with us to drill the holes in the ice and go ice fishing on this beautiful lake. Coffee break by an open fire. By snowmobile again back to the hotel. Snowscootersafari to local blacksmith at 14:00 By snowscootersafari through the snowscovered forest and across the hills of Syöte area. Enjoy the nature and experience the adventure of driving with your snowmobile through this Arctic landscape. Heading towards a local blacksmith who knows the art and skills to make the lappish knife “puukko”, as all safari guides are using. You can see him active at his workshop and you can even try to be a blacksmith yourself. Visit by snowmobiles to a reindeer farm at 10.00 A snowmobile safari through snowy forests and over ice covered lakes to reindeer farm. Introduction by the reindeerman at the farm about the reindeer and reindeer herding. Visitors will have the chance to ride in a sledge pulled by a reindeer. Coffee and pulla at the kota. Snowshoe hiking trip at 14.00
Our trip starts from the hotel after personal instructions how to use the snowshoes. The trip goes through the deep snow covering the hilltop of Iso Syöte. Enjoying the views and the beautiful snow sculptures made by nature. Discovering marks and tracks of animals and birds in the snow. During the break the guide will have hot drink and cookies for you. A long snowmobile adventure at 09.45 A real big snowmobile adventure: a whole day ahead of driving by snowmobile, far out in the nature and the snow covered forests, driving to various type of terrain. A challenging ride of about 70‐100km . We recommend one person per snowmobile to really enjoy the fun and getting the chance to be an experienced driver. Up and down hill, making the right curves and moves while using your bodyweight makes it even more exciting. Admire the area and enjoy the ride! We stop to make campfire and have an outdoor lunch. Saturday Excursion to Ranua zoo + Rovaniemi Santa village at.09.00 Departure by bus from Iso Syöte hotel to Ranua Wildlifepark 2 hr visit in the park (approx € 14 p.p. entrance fee to be paid on the spot). Onwards to Rovaniemi to the Polarcircle and visit to Santa’s village. There are many souvenir and Finnish design / handicraft shops. If you want you can meet Santa himself! Safari to a reindeer farm by car at 09.30 A real cultural experience where you can learn more about the culture and history of the area and reindeerbreeding. We start from the hotel and drive towards Virkkunen’s traditional reindeer farm which is situated 18 km from the hotel. At the farm the owner tells about reindeer herding and the life at the farm, history, culture and traditions. He takes you to his herd of reindeer and afterwards welcomes you into his home for coffee, homemade cakes and reindeer sandwiches.
