Adams Lake Indian Band presents

Bruce D. Perry m.d., po. February 14th & 15th, 2013 Adams Lake Conference Centre (6349 Chief Jules Dr., Chase B.C.)

''Child Trauma & Attachment"

Dr. Bruce Perry is a clinician and researcher in children's mental health and the neurosciences, and an internationally recognized authority on children in crisis. "The development of a young child is profoundly influenced by experience. Experiences - good and bad - shape the organization of the brain. The ultimate effect is to impact emotional, social, cognitive and physiological functioning. Insights into this process come from under standing brain development. Both trauma and neglect, the absence of essential developmental experiences required to express a funda mental potential of a child, are pervasive problems in our culture. Various forms of neglect are possible and include splinter neglect, total global neglect and emotional or relational neglect. Chaos, threat and abnormal patterns of emotional, social, cognitive and physical interac tions with young children lead to an array of brain-related problems. This presentation will review clinical work and research that can help us better understand developmental trauma, neglect and the relational problems that arise from neglect and threat. An overview will be pro vided that suggests new directions for clinical practice, program development and policy makers." ♦

** DOGS!!!!

There have been many complaints of DOGS barking in the evening and late at night. If you own a dog, please make sure it is not barking in the evening or late at night. Keep them quiet. Thank you.

Also please keep them tied up or on a leash, it is hard to enjoy a walk when you are being barked at or bit.

From Deputy Minister Graham Whitmarsh about the new OV_^ oCTVlCeS Cai'd.

Beginning February 15, 2013. the provincial government will introduce the BC Services Card, which will be phased in over a five-year period. The new card replaces the CareCard, can be combined with the driver's li cence and also serves as government-issued identification. All BC Services Cards will have an expiry date, enhanced security features and most will have a photograph, which will help to improve patient safety and re duce card misuse.

The BC Services Card will be delivered as an integrated program of the Ministry of Citizens' Services and Open Government, the Ministry of Health, and the Insurance Corporation of BC. In the future, we anticipate that additional in-person and online government programs and services will be accessed through the BC Ser vices Card.

The Ministry of Health is pleased to announce that the Medical Services Plan is the first program available through the new card. With this change, and beginning February 15, 2013, there will be a new requirement for most adult BC residents to renew their enrolment in the Medical Services Plan by 2018. Once enrolment has been successfully renewed, individuals can be issued a BC Services Card. New regulations will also come into effect for health care providers, including the duty to verify patients* en rolment in Medical Services Plan and the duty to report Medical Services Plan misuse. For information on these requirements and more, please visit: health.izov.bc.ca/msp/infoprac/index.html. where you will find the following resources: •

A BC Services Card ID fact sheet for health care providers with images of the card:

A set of questions and answers:

A multimedia eLearning tool for self serve information on the BC Services Card program; and.

Technical readiness information for those who use. or plan to use. a card reading device to capture infor

mation from the

magnetic stripe or 2D barcode on the CareCard and BC Services Card.

In January 2013, a public communications campaign will be launched to inform BC residents about the BC Services Card and the changes to the Medical Services Plan. Kits with posters, brochures and other communi cations materials will be delivered to health providers and other locations in communities across the province. In addition, the Ministry of Health and our partners have been engaging with stakeholders to inform them about the upcoming launch of the BC Services Card. These important meetings and presentations will continue through the initial phase of the launch.

If you would like more general information, please visit: BCServicesCard.ca or by telephone 1-800-663-7867 (604 660-2421 in Metro Vancouver and 250 387-6121 in Victoria).

Thank you for your support during the transition to the new BC Services Card.

Sincerely.
