Joseph F. McEnness

Common Sense Safety Advice • Using a map, consult with concierge or police regarding areas that may not be safe, location of hospitals, clinics and police stations. Mark them on the map. • Be aware of your surroundings at all times. • Be alert - pay attention to any individual or activity that appears to be out of the ordinary. • Do not travel alone at night.
Joseph F. McEnness

Common Sense Safety Advice • Whether a group of 3 or 30, establish a safety zone when moving through the city or event. • A safety zone is a perimeter around your group used to trigger closer scrutiny of anyone or anything that may come into the zone. • When expecting to be stationary for a period of time, make note of fire exits, exit paths of shortest distance, least resistance and greatest cover or concealment.
Joseph F. McEnness
15
Common Sense Safety Advice • Agree upon a meeting location near any event with large groups. Location to be utilized should something occur creating chaos or disruption. • Location should be easily identified and visible, a short distance preferably within sight of the event, but just off of main street or access paths to avoid fast-moving crowds or panic .
Joseph F. McEnness
16
Common Sense Safety Advice • If something bad happens during an event • Move away from the immediate danger or noise • Try to stay together • OODA ü ü ü ü
Observe Orient Decide Act

At the November General Meeting, he said: • In the wake of the recent international terrorist attacks, I want to assure you, our pilgrimage leaders, and the families of our pilgrims that we have taken extra measures to assure the safety and security of all World Youth Day travelers. Our USCCB World Youth Day office is working with the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Consulate in Krakow, and the Embassy of Poland in the United States to ensure the protection of those making this international pilgrimage. We will continue to be diligent and proactive in all these matters and we will provide multiple opportunities for leader training in the coming months.

Regina Coeli Queen of Heaven V. Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia. R. For He whom you did merit to bear, alleluia. V. Has risen, as he said, alleluia. R. Pray for us to God, alleluia. V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary, alleluia. R. For the Lord has truly risen, alleluia. Let us pray. O God, who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of Thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen
