LESSONS LEARNT Tips and Tricks

13

Lessons Learnt • Copy BW production to a sandbox and perform a full regression test. • Plan for a formal Trial Cutover. • Test Backups/Restores. • For Issues, review the latest HANA Notes and HANA revisions. • Refine Project activities and Cutover Tasks. • Verify Table Consistency and partitioning of BW tables on the database. 14

Tips & Tricks When upgrading from 7.x to 7.3 and migrating • Use the latest delivered Business Content version of certain objects like time characteristics. • Changes in behaviour of start and end routines in 7.3 • Check Transformations with Constants. In some cases transformation for keyfigures is converted to 'No Transformation‘. Implement 1709947 before the upgrade • Latest patches for BI Java components 15

Tips & Tricks When upgrading from 7.x to 7.3 and migrating • The way exception aggregation is dealt with in 7.3 has changed. • Extra checks in packages resulting in warning messages. • SAPGUI 7.3 does not have BEx 3.x components as standard.
