Longer-term Volunteer Needs – United Way of Tarrant County:  Committee volunteers: United Way has over 200 volunteers that serve on our Board, councils and steering committees. We are currently in volunteer rotation and need to fill several positions. Meetings are scheduled for 1 ½ hours and depending on the committee, meet 5-10 times per year. Should you have anyone interested in serving on a council or steering committee, we can provide additional information. 

Ombudsman volunteers: Ombudsman are sometimes the only advocates for residents in nursing homes and rehabilitation facilities. Ombudsman volunteers are critical in working with facilities, residents and their families to ensure residents have proper quality of care. There are over 200 facilities in Tarrant County and the Ombudsman program is in critical need of volunteers. State certified training is provided at no cost and the Area Agency on Aging Ombudsman coordinator works with volunteers every step of the way. Trainings begin in September and we can provide additional information on this great program.

VITA volunteers: Community volunteers are trained as IRS certified tax preparers and meet with clients one-on-one to prepare and file their tax returns. Volunteers are also trained as greeters and intake specialists. We can provide additional information on this great program.
