Case Studies Case Study – Bottling Line Relocation VML GROUP was awarded the contract to relocate a bottling line from Clonmel in Southern Ireland to Shepton Mallet in the UK. VML was requested to supply skilled labour, tackle and lifting equipment to the manufacturing plant in Southern Ireland. Additionally, as requested, we manufactured bespoke lifting frames ad edge protection for the Rinser, Filler and Labeller to allow the safe handling and to protect these machines during shipping. The lifting frames were designed by Vanguard 2001 and the calculations produced to ensure compliance with the Loler Regulations. As a further precaution the Rinser, Filler, Labeller, Capper, Table and the Mix Processor were wrapped with Industrial grade shrink wrap to protect them whilst being transported and during the turbulent journey on the R.M.S Vindava barge during shipping. The out of gage items were then loaded onto specialist transport ad taken to the port in Cork, Ireland. VML project managed this from start to finish. As the items measured a width of 6.1 meters; being too wide to travel safely on the public roads during daylight hours, the transportation arrangements needed to be agreed with Ireland’s National Police Force, to provide a police escort overnight to ensure safety was taken into consideration during the transportation of this bottling line. VML, then followed the specialist transport from the manufacturing site in Clonmell to the port in Cork to oversee the equipment handling onto R.M.S Vindava; the barge was then met at Portbury Dock, Bristol, UK by the VML team to again oversee the equipment handling discharge from the barge onto the specialist transport. Police escort was again arranged and we then followed the machinery overnight on the Bank Holiday weekend to the receiving site in Shepton Mallet, off loaded and conveyed the equipment into the building, the machines were then positioned by VML as directed and inched into the final position under the supervision of the onsite engineers. Our client was pleased with a potentially difficult project being handled professionally and entirely to time and budget agreements.
