Quality Speech Materials

Thank you for taking the time to look over this sample lesson. Our goal is to provide you with quality VBS materials that are easy to use, economical, and, above all, God-honoring. All of our materials are conservative and fundamental. All scripture used is from the King James Version. All our music is conservative. We have tried to organize these programs in such a manner that they are easy to use. Everything you need to organize, advertise, and run a complete VBS is included. You won’t need to buy separate teacher’s manuals, student books, or anything. All our materials are reproducible! You can purchase preschool VBS, color posters, and a puppet at low additional costs if you choose. We are pleased to be able to offer you a choice in VBS themes. We currently offer seven different VBS programs. Select the one that suits your needs. In this brochure we will be showing you sample materials from our Cross Training VBS. The sports theme centers on focusing our eyes on the finish line of life. All our materials come on a 30 day perusal basis. If you choose not to keep them, just return them so that no damage is done. So feel free to request that an entire VBS program be sent for you to look over. We hope your questions will be answered, but feel free to call. We would be happy to discuss any additional questions you might have. In Christ,

FAQ’S about VBS Are these materials fundamental?

Can our Teens help?

Yes. You will love this program. The old-time Gospel is presented Each day children learn truths from God’s Word such as Salvation through Jesus Christ, obedience to God’s Word, repentance for sin, and the forgiveness of God.

Yes! Teens can help with skits, verse games, songs, puppets, sitting with children and other areas. Some churches even use these materials with teen groups as a mission outreach.

We believe God uses the Bible to speak to young hearts. Emphasis is placed on Scripture memorization with the aid of fun games and skits. The King James Version is used in all materials.

Do the children get anything to take home?

In what size church does this program run best?

Any size. This program has been used successfully in small and large churches across the USA. Size does not matter.

What is the Age and Time Frame?

These materials are geared for kindergarten to 6th grade students. The entire program runs about 2 1/2 hours without crafts and 3 hours with crafts. An evening program can be condensed to 11/2- 2 hours. Crafts are optional and not included. We provide the name of a craft source if you choose to buy crafts.

4

Yes. Copyready Fun Sheets are provided to give to the children daily. Fun Sheets include a synopsis of the Bible story, the memory verse, and fun games.

Do you use visuals with the Bible stories?

These lessons do not rely on stagnant, old-fashioned flash cards to convey the story. Instead, in many of the stories we use the children to act out certain scenes. The children are eager to help and this method firmly embeds the story into the memory of each in attendance. You will need a dynamic storyteller who can use their voice andbody to portray the stories. You will be amazed at how a well-told story can rivet the attention of the entire audience. (We include info on storytelling and working with children on the platform.)

Pick a Format WE RECOMMEND A PLATFORM VBS A platform run VBS uses one main teacher who tells the story from the platform to all the children at the same time. This format allows you to use only one teacher instead of several. You will need an experienced storyteller and there are areas for other teens and adults to help with songs, skits, etc. It can be done! A good storyteller should have no problem keeping the attention of the children. And most churches find they really love this format.

OR CHOOSE CLASSES INSTEAD Some churches wish to use a more traditional approach to VBS. So use classes if you choose. Simply copy the Bible lessons and other materials you want the teachers to use. You can open with the group together for songs, the puppet skit, offering, and then split up for classes, crafts, and refreshments. Use the format that works best for your church.

Eric Liddell - Day Two Yesterday we started the true story of a man named Eric Liddell. Eric was born in China where his parents were missionaries. But when Eric was just a young boy he returned to attend a boarding school in England. There Eric studied hard and he also learned to play sports. When Eric went to college he found that he was an excellent runner. He had a strange manner of running. He would throw his head back and pump his arms. This seemed like a big waste of energy, but it didn’t seem to hurt Eric’s race. In fact, Eric was such a good runner that once he began racing, he never again lost a single race he completed in while in Scotland. One day a friend came to ask Eric if he would be willing to speak to a group of local men who did not know Christ as their Savior. Eric had never shared his faith with anyone else. He wasn’t a good speaker. He wondered why anyone would want to listen to him speak. But he agreed to try. It wasn’t easy for Eric to stand before a group of men to speak, but he prayed and asked God to help him. That night he stood to speak. He looked out at the men and not one of them got up to leave. Instead they were anxious to hear what Eric Liddell had to say. They cheered for him. They knew he was a great athlete and they wanted to hear him speak. Quietly Eric shared what God had done in his life. He told the men of how much God loved them. He didn’t preach, he just talked with the men and it had a real impact on everyone listening. They were impressed that such a great athlete would love God and they were impressed that he cared enough about them to tell them about God. That was just the beginning of Eric’s talks. From that day on Eric took every opportunity to speak out for God. Often he would schedule times to speak before and after his races. When he traveled to other towns to race, he would also set up times to speak in those towns. On Sundays he would speak to the people in the churches where he was and on weekdays he spoke in town halls and race tracks. Wherever God opened a door for him to speak, he would speak. It was a big change for Eric, but it was one he was glad he had made. Before, he had been afraid to share his faith in Christ with anyone, but now he shared it with anyone who would listen. Eric found that talking to others about God was the most

10

important thing in his life. He was happy he could run races. He was happy he could win races. But he was more interested in telling others about Jesus. If winning races made others want to listen to him, then he would use his athletic ability for Christ. Others did listen! Wherever Eric went the people would gather to listen. Large crowds of people would squeeze together to get a chance to hear him and many lives were changed. They were impressed that they could be near their hero. And the next day all the newspapers had pictures of the events and ran stories of what Eric said about God. After Eric spoke, they often asked him questions. One question they asked was, “How do you run so fast?” Eric would smile and reply, “I run as fast as I can the first half and then I ask God to help me run even faster the second half.” It did seem God was helping Eric run fast! In 1924 the trials for the Olympic Games were held in London. Eric traveled there to try to win a place on the British team. The best men from Scotland, England, Ireland, and Wales came to compete for a place on the Olympic team. Eric needed to be one of the top three men in his category in order to win a spot. When the events were finished, Eric had won both of his heats, both of his final races, and he had amazingly set a British track record. He was declared “Best Athlete of the Year.” He was going to Paris! Eric was entered in the 100 meter race and the 200 meter race. Everyone in the United Kingdom was buzzing about Eric. He was favored to win in his categories and they were excited. He would surely bring home the gold for England. About three months before the Olympics began, the dates of the races and their heats were issued. Eric quickly scanned the sheet for his events. His eyes swept down the page and came to rest on the times and dates. The heats for every one of his events was on Sunday. Eric went to the head of the British Olympic team. “I will not race on Sunday,” Eric informed the man. Everyone tried to reason with Eric. The race was on Sunday and it couldn’t be helped. He would have to race. Eric would not budge. Sunday was the

Lord’s day. He loved and respected God too much to dishonor Him by running on Sunday.

had his chance at the gold but he passed it up for his God. Now he has no chance at all of winning. How foolish.”

When the news got out that Eric would not run on Sunday, people were upset and angry. They could not understand what the problem was. They knew Eric was a Christian, but surely that would not stand in the way of his gold medal! How could he pass up the opportunity to win a gold medal? How could he pass up the fame and fortune that would go with that win? How could he let down the people from his country that way?

Eric was positioned in the high outside lane. It was the hardest lane to run since Eric would be starting a few paces ahead of the other racers. The head start was no advantage since the high outside lane was on the curve and that took away any advantage. It also meant that Eric could not see the other runners behind him to be able to set his pace.

Eric would not change his mind. He was sorry no one seemed to understand, but he was not worried about what others thought of his decision. He was only concerned with what God thought of him and his choices. He knew God would not want him to run on Sunday, so that settled the matter. Finally the British team leaders came up with a solution. It wasn’t a good solution, but at least Eric would still be able to go to Paris to compete. They offered Eric a position on the 200 meter and 400 meter races. They would be run later in the week. Not on Sunday! Eric accepted. Everyone knew that Eric was not strong in either race and there were a couple of men from other countries who were favored to win, but at least he could get the chance to compete. On the Sunday that Eric’s race was to be run, Eric was in a church in Paris. Instead of racing, he was worshipping God. On Tuesday Eric lined up and gave it his best as he ran the 200 meter. Two American runners took first and second place, but Eric won the bronze in third place. On Thursday the heat for the 400 meter race was held. In the first heat a Swiss runner won the race and set a world record for speed. In the second heat an American runner won the race and he also set a world record. Things were not looking good for Eric! It was 113 degrees on the evening of the 400 meter race. Eric didn’t mind running in the heat, but this was extremely hot. Eric shook hands with the other runners and wished them success. Then he lined up next to the men from Switzerland and America who had won their heats and set world records the day before. All eyes were on these two men. Those who glanced at Eric most likely thought, “It serves him right! He

The pistol cracked and the runners were off. Eric threw his head back and pumped his arms. He spurted ahead of the other racers and ran with all his might. The 60,000 spectators watching in the stands were amazed to see Eric get such a good start, but they all knew that a good long distance runner paced himself. They thought Eric was foolish to give all his energy to the first half of the race. Instead he should have started slower and saved his last spurt of energy for the last few yards of the race. Eric seemed to be doing the opposite. The crowd was sure that soon he would wear down and the other racers would pass him up. As the second half of the race approached everyone waited expectantly for Eric to fall behind, but he did not seem to lose any speed. In fact, Eric actually began to race faster and faster. The men who had just set world records could not catch up with Eric as he powered full steam ahead. No one had passed Eric. He was still in first place, so he ran harder. As Eric soared over the finish line and the crowd exploded in cheers. He had won the gold! When the roar of the crowd died down, the announcer had something more amazing to say. Not only had Eric won the gold, he had also set a new world record! The crowd went wild again. Eric patted a note in his pocket that the masseur for the British team had slipped to him just before the race. The note said, “In the old book it says, ‘He who honors me, I will honor.’ Wishing you the best success always.” Indeed, God had honored Eric’s decision to not run on Sunday. It took courage and conviction to take a stand for God, but Eric was on Chirst’s team and he had learned he should not be afraid to let others know he loved God. Tomorrow we will hear more about Eric Liddell’s exciting life story. The gold medal was only the beginning.

Champions of the Faith - Day Two

Announcer #1: Welcome. You’re just in time for another exciting edition of “Spotlight on the World,” where we bring you interviews with Champions of the Faith from around the world. Announcer #2: Today we are turning our spotlight on Adoniram Judson, missionary to Burma. Announcer #1: This promises to be an inspiring interview. Today we are talking about joining Jesus Christ’s team. Not everyone is on Christ’s team you know. Mr. Judson’s interview is just what we need today. Let’s go to that interview. (Go to prerecorded interview or live interview.) Announcer #2: Welcome Mr. Judson. Thank you for talking to us today. I know you are a busy man with your missionary work. You have devoted your entire life to serving Christ in Burma. I hear you have been translating the entire Bible into the Burmese language? Adoniram Judson: Oh, yes. The Lord certainly prepared me for that task. From an early age I loved reading and studying. Most children don’t enjoy hitting the books, but I always did. In fact, my love of studies and my sharp mind almost led to my downfall in life. Announcer #2: Really? Tell me about it. Adoniram Judson: My parents were godly people. In fact, my father pastored a sound, Bible believing church in Massachusetts. I was brought up to read and respect God’s Word. By the time I was three years old I could read anything. By the time I was 4 years old I was preaching to my little friends. My parents were amazed at how quickly I learned and understood whatever I was taught. I particularly excelled in Math, Greek, and Latin. Announcer #2: Sounds like you got a good start in life. Adoniram Judson: Oh, yes. And I was quite proud of myself. My goal was to grow up to use my knowledge to become famous and important. Announcer #2: So what happened? Adoniram Judson: By the age of seventeen I entered college. There I met a friend, named Jacob Eames. He questioned everything I had been taught about God and life. He presented me with ideas I had never heard before. I listened and soon I abandoned all my beliefs about God. I followed my friend to become a Diest. Basically I believed there was a god, or greater being of some sort, but I no longer believed in an after life. I didn’t believe in a Heaven or Hell. I no longer believed God had any real place in my life. I believed the important thing was living a good, moral life. Announcer #2: What did your parents say about your new-found beliefs? Adoniram Judson: At first I was too ashamed to tell them, but when my father wanted me to become a preacher, I rebelled. I had no intention of wasting my talents in some small church like he had. Instead I decided to move to New York City and become a famous playwright. Announcer #2: What did your parents think of that? Adoniram Judson: My father tried to reason with me from the Bible and my mother cried and prayed for me constantly. But I shut my heart and my ears. I was determined to reject Jesus Christ. Announcer #2: What happened?

12

it

Adoniram Judson: When I got to New York no one would give me a chance. I was a nobody and no one cared how smart I was. So I left New York but I hated to go home and admit defeat. My plan for my life had failed, but God’s plan was just beginning. Announcer #2: Tell me about it. Adoniram Judson: As I traveled by horseback through the countryside, I stopped for the night in a small inn. The innkeeper put me in the last available room and explained that in the room next to mine was a very sick man. He sure was! In the night I heard the man moaning and crying out. There were whispers as people came and went trying to help the man. I didn’t get any sleep that night as I listened to the noises next door. Thoughts of death kept running through my mind. I remembered my father’s teachings about Heaven and Hell. I couldn’t help but wonder if that poor man was ready for death. Toward morning, finally everything was quiet. Announcer #2: Did you find out what happened to the man? Adoniram Judson: As I went to leave, I asked the inn keeper what had happened to the man. He told me he had died. Then he told me the name of the man. It was Jacob Eames, my friend from college who had convinced me to reject God and become a Diest. Announcer #2: Wow! Your friend lay dying in the room next to you. What a coincidence! Adoniram Judson: It was no coincidence! Even in my lost estate, I knew God had placed me in that room. The word “lost” kept echoing through my mind. If my friend, the Diest, was wrong, and the Bible was right, then he had died lost. He was on his way to Hell. Announcer #2: What did you do? Adoniram Judson: I went home and gave some serious thought to what had happened. I knew that if the Bible was true, then I was also lost. I decided to attend a Bible seminary to study the Bible for myself. Finally, at the age of 20 years, I realized there was a real God and there was a real Heaven and Hell. I also realized that becoming rich and famous was not important, but having my sin forgiven and asking God to save my soul was extremely important! Announcer #2: What a story! Adoniram Judson: You know, I thought I had all the answers. I thought I could be a good person and that was all I needed. I thought if I lived a good life then I would be fine. I was wrong. Announcer #2: Thanks so much for telling us your story. Do you have any last words for us? Adoniram Judson: Only that no one should depend on their good works to get them to Heaven. God is real. Heaven and Hell are real. The only way anyone can get to Heaven is to put their trust in Jesus Christ. He is the only way to Heaven! Announcer #2: That sure is the most important thing in life to know. Thank you for talking to us today, Mr. Judson. Back to you. Announcer #1: Great interview. (To audience.) Thanks so much for being with us today. That was a powerful interview and we hope you learned more about how you also can become a Champion of the Faith. It’s not enough to just believe there is a God or to be good. You need to believe in the one true God who is able to forgive your sin and put you on the only path to Heaven. Thanks for joining us again today for “Spotlight on the World.” Be sure to come back tomorrow for another exciting interview with one of God’s Champions of the Faith.

Pu Sam pp ple Day Two - Sir Teddy Script et Sk You: (Introduce the verse and lead the children in saying it several times.) Very good. You it know, I wonder if Sir Theodore is coming today. Yesterday we invited him to join our team. I certainly hope he does! Sir Teddy III: (Have sweatband on his head. It can go over the hat.) Well, hello everyone. You: Hi, Sir Theodore. What’s that on your head? Sir Teddy III: A sweatband, of course. I thought about what you said and I have decided to become a participator. I am no longer just a spectator! You: Wow! That’s going to be a big change for you. I’m happy you’ve decided to join us. Hey, what’s that wonderful smell? Sir Teddy III: Oh. Those are my crumpets. I brought some along so I can have my tea and crumpets. I love my tea and crumpets, you know. Can’t live without them! You: I hate to tell you this, Sir Theodore, but now that you’ve joined us a few things are going to have to change. Sir Teddy III: Change? What must change? You: For starters, you’ll have to get rid of those crumpets. The pudge has got to go. (Poke his belly.) Sir Teddy III: What? Sir Edmond Theodore Percival Windsor III without crumpets? But why? You: Because junk food is bad for you. Sir Teddy III: Junk food? Nothing a Windsor eats is considered “junk” food. We Windsors do not own junk! You: Whatever you want to call it, it has to go. And that’s not all. Sir Teddy III: I hate to ask, but what else? You: Sir Theodore, a serious champion needs to exercise regularly. Sir Teddy III: I have this sweatband on. Doesn’t that count? You: Have you been exercising? Sir Teddy III: No. But with the sweatband on, it looks like I have. You: It’s not good enough to just look like you exercise. You need to actually exercise! Sir Teddy III: But I’ve never exercised in my entire life. You: You have to make some big changes if you’re really serious about becoming a champion in this race. That reminds me of our Bible verse for today. Listen to us. We’ll say it for you. (Lead Children in II Cor. 5:17) Sir Teddy III: Excellent job! You: When a person asks Jesus to forgive their sin and come into their heart, big changes occur. Before we are saved we live for sin and self. But after we get saved there are big changes in our life. We should want to live for Jesus Christ. Sir Teddy III: Changing isn’t easy! You: No. Just as athletes must make changes in their diets and exercise programs, so Christians need to change the things they used to say and do. They should do everything to be pleasing to God. Sir Teddy III: That sounds hard! You: It would be hard if we had to make the changes all by ourselves, but the great news is that God will make the changes in you if you let Him. Sir Teddy III: Does God instantly make you perfect? You: No. He instantly takes away our sin, but little by little He helps us become more Christ-like. We are still human. We still sin. But we can ask God to help us to grow stronger in Him each day. Sir Teddy III: I certainly hope I can change! You: I’m sure you can. But you need to get a coach to work with you and help you each day. Sir Teddy III: That’s a splendid idea! I had better go check the yellow pages for a coach. You: And don’t forget to dump those crumpets while you’re at it. Sir Teddy III: If I must! Cheerio everyone.

Day Two Join Christ’s Team Study Text:

Saul’s Conversion

Acts 9:1-20

SAUL’S

Bible Lesson MISTAKE

Yesterday we talked about a man named Saul who thought he was on God’s team. What he didn’t realize is that he was not on God’s team. You see, Saul rejected Jesus Christ. He did not believe that Jesus was the Son of God. Saul was a very religious man. He had been trained in the synagogue by the religious leaders all about the Scriptures. He knew all about Abraham and Moses and Jacob. He knew all about the sacrifices and the priests. He knew the ten commandments and he kept them too! Saul was a good man. But Saul was not on Christ’s team. Saul hated everyone who loved Jesus Christ. He hated all Christians. Saul thought he was serving God by doing great harm to all the Christians he came across. He was totally devoted to doing away with all Christians. He would search out the Christians and drag them away to be tried for their crime of being a follower of Christ. The Christians greatly feared Saul. I am sure they hid in their homes when they knew he was anywhere near. Yet, they would not stop preaching the Gospel or telling others about Christ. Even though they knew Saul would do them great harm if he captured them, they still continued to tell others about Christ. You see, they understood that Jesus was the Son of God.

ROAD TO CHRIST

One day Saul decided to take his persecutions of the Christians farther away from home than just in Jerusalem. He knew that many of the Christians had fled to other towns in fear and it angered him to find out that wherever they went they continued to preach about Jesus Christ. He determined that he would stop that from happening.

So, Saul went to the high priest in the Synagogue in Jerusalem. He asked that he be given a letter that explained to the other Synagogue leaders where he went about the Christians and what he wanted to do. He wanted them to know what terrible lies the Christians were spreading. He wanted their help in stopping the Christians. He wanted the right to take Christians as prisoner and bring them back to Jerusalem to stand trail. Acts 9:1-2 says, And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem. With letter in hand, Saul set off for the city of Damascus. A few of the men who also hated Christians went with Saul on his trip. They must have been walking along talking about how they would round up as many Christians as possible as soon as they got Damascus. All of a sudden something happened that stopped them dead in their tracks. A light from Heaven beamed down on Saul and it completely blinded him. He couldn’t see anything around him. He fell to his knees. How terrified and confused he must have been! But that wasn’t all that happened. Just as he hit his knees a voice came from Heaven speaking directly to Saul. It was the voice of God! Saul thought he was on a mission to do what God wanted him to do, but he soon found out otherwise. The voice said, “Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?” God directly asked Saul why he was trying so hard to hurt Him. Saul must have been baffled. He thought he was doing exactly what God would want him to do. He thought he was doing God a big favor by getting rid of the Christians who believed in Jesus Christ. What did God mean?

15

Saul gathered up what courage he had and he asked a question. He said, “Who art thou, Lord?” Even though Saul could tell it was God talking to him, the message he heard totally confused him. Imagine how amazed Saul was when he heard God’s answer! God told him, “I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.” You see, Jesus is God. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are one. Jesus is the Son of God. He is God! When Saul did harm to Jesus, he was doing harm to God. When Saul did harm to the Christians, he was doing harm to God. Saul had another question for the Lord Jesus. He asked, “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” Saul only knew what he had been taught by the other religious leaders. He thought he had been doing God’s will. Now he didn’t know what to do. But God was quick to tell him exactly what to do. God told Saul to get up and go into the city of Damascus. There he would be told what to do, instead of going to Damascus to hunt down and destroy Christians, Saul was about to join the opposite side. Acts 9:3-6 says, And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. Saul was completely blinded by the light from Heaven, but he could actually see more clearly after speaking to the Lord than he could before. Now he knew that he had been wrong. He had thought he was on God’s team, but by rejecting Jesus Christ he wasn’t on God’s team. When he understood that Jesus Christ was God the Son, then he understood the truth. Saul joined Christ’s team.

SEARCHES HIS SOUL

The men traveling with Saul could not see what he had seen, but they definitely knew something very strange had occurred. They did hear the voice from Heaven. They could also

see that when Saul stood up, he was blind. So the men took Saul and led him into the city. Acts 9:7-9 says, And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man. And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus. And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink. For three days Saul could not see a thing. For three days he did not eat or drink anything. For three days Saul thought about what the Lord had said to him. For three days Saul thought about the message the Christians had been preaching to anyone who would listen. He had rejected everything they said before. He had rejected the idea that Jesus Christ was God. But now he was 100 percent certain that everything they were saying was the truth. Saul admitted to himself and to God that he had been wrong. Lots of people think that they can make God happy by doing the things they think God wants, but if they don’t find out what God wants by reading the Bible, then they are not doing things God’s way. They are trying to serve God their own way. For three days as Saul sat blindly thinking about what had happened, I am sure he was hoping God would give him a second chance to serve Him. I am sure he searched his soul and thought about Jesus’ words to him. And this time Saul was determined to really do things God’s way.

GOD

SENDS AN EYE-OPENER

God did not leave Saul in his blind condition. God sent a Christian man by the name of Ananias to speak to Saul. Now you need to realize what great faith and trust in God Ananias must have had! Remember that Saul was well-known for destroying Christians. So when God told Ananias that he was supposed to go speak to Saul, it took faith for Ananias to do as God instructed. He listened to God’s instructions to go to Saul, but then he reminded God of the terrible things Saul had done to the Christians. God quickly assured Ananias that Saul was a changed man.

Acts 9:10-16 says, And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord. And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight. Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name. But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake. Ananias knew that he could trust God completely so he got right up and went to do as God told him to do. When he got to the house where Saul was staying, he went right up to him and placed his hands on him. Immediately Saul regained his eyesight. He was no longer blind. Saul could see physically, but he could also see spiritually. Now he knew for certain that Jesus was God the Son. The first thing Saul did was to go and be baptized. Baptism is a Christian’s way of showing the entire world that we love and believe in Jesus Christ. You see, Saul wanted to be baptized because he wanted everyone to know that now he believed Jesus Christ was the Son of God. He now longer hated the Christians because now he was a Christian! Acts 9:17-18 says, And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

What an amazing change took place in Saul’s life when he joined Christ’s team. Now, instead of wanting to destroy Christians, he wanted to spread the good news of what Jesus Christ had done. Now he understood why the other Christians wanted to tell others about Christ. He wanted to tell anyone who would listen that Jesus was God and that Jesus had come to this earth to die on the cross to take our sins away. Acts 9:19-20 says, And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

HAVE

YOU JOINED

CHRIST’S

TEAM?

You know, on your own you can’t know how to do God’s will either. Just like Saul you are also blind spiritually. You might think you are religious if you go to church or if you believe there is a God, but you are wrong if you are not doing things God’s way. You are blind spiritually if you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Just as God gave clear instructions to Saul about what to do, God also gives you clear instructions. God gave you His Word, the Bible, to tell you what He wants you to believe and what He wants you to do. One important thing God tells you in the Bible is how you can be saved from your sins and on your way to Heaven. You can’t do it by doing good things. You can’t do it by going to church. The only way you can get things right with God is by accepting Jesus Christ, God the Son, as your personal Savior. He died on the cross for your sins. He died to take your place. Now he offers salvation to you. Have you asked Jesus to forgive your sins? Have you joined Christ’s team? You can do that today. We can have someone take a Bible and show you how you can know you are saved and on your way to Heaven. Give Invitation.

And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

Saul was a very religious man. He wanted to serve God so he did what he thought God wanted him to do. He thought the people who called themselves Christians were all wrong. Saul did not believe Jesus Christ was the Son of God. So Saul did everything he could to stop the Christians. Saul hunted for Christians and dragged them out of their homes to be tried for their belief in Jesus Christ. Many Christians fled to other cities to get away from Saul. One day Saul heard there were Christians in Damascus preaching about Jesus Christ. Saul intended to stop them. So off Saul went. But something amazing happened to Saul on the road to Damascus. Suddenly a bright light stopped Saul in his tracks. Saul fell down and was very afraid. God spoke to Saul. God asked Saul why he was persecuting Him. Saul did not think he was harming God in any way. In fact, Saul thought he was serving God. But when Saul asked who was speaking to him, the voice said, “I am Jesus, whom thou persecutest.” When Saul asked Jesus what he should do, Jesus told him to go to Damascus. Saul got up but he was still blind, so the men who traveled with him led him to the city. There they waited to see what God would do next. After three days of praying God sent Ananias to speak to Saul. He touched Saul and his sight came back to him. Immediately Saul knew that Jesus was the Son of God and he became a Christian. Saul began to preach to others about Jesus Christ. What a change Jesus made in Saul’s life. Have you joined Christ’s team? Has Jesus made a difference in your life?

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. II Corinthians 5:17 18

My name is Wendy Collins and I know you’ll love our Children’s Church materials. Let me tell you about them.

First, let me assure you that everything we produce is fundamental and God-honoring. My husband, Gary, and I are Bob Jones University graduates. We are members of an independent Baptist church. We’ve devoted our lives to serving the Lord by serving fundamental churches. All our Scripture references are KJV. We believe materials for children need to contain solid Bible teaching. You will not find fluff and filler. We pack our materials with Bible truths and principles. With these materials you get more than just a Bible story. In each lesson we provide clear, written materials to help you present an entire Children’s Church program. Each lesson starts with an introduction that presents the Life Lesson for the week. Then prayer and song time. Next comes the secondary story that emphasizes the Life Lesson. This could be a missionary story, hymn history, object lesson, or puppet script. Then the Bible memory verse. We provide fun games to teach the verse. Next the Bible lesson is presented. This is not a skimpy lesson. It is complete and always teaches an important Bible truth. After the lesson a challenge follows which helps the children to understand practical ways to apply the lesson to their life. There are quiz questions so you can have a Bible quiz time. Attractive reproducible Activity Sheets are provided. We now include a full-color visual packet with the lessons, but for the most part you will need a storyteller who can take these materials, which are jammed packed with great ideas, and bring them to life by using the effective storytelling techniques which we teach in our FREE Storytelling book. We give lots of tips on holding attention and keeping the story fascinating. There are 48 non-dated lessons. We also include 4 holiday lessons. In total, you get 52 complete lessons. You will want to use these materials in order as they progress through the entire Bible. Year One begins with Genesis 1:1. Year Two begins where Year One finishes. We currently have four years of Children’s Church materials. In total there will be six years of materials. These materials are geared for children grades 1 through 6. I would love to have you look at one of our lessons. You can go to our Website and download a
