PROSPECTUS FOR ADMISSION TO POST GRADUATE DEGREE COURSES IN GOVT/AIDED/ SELF-FINANCING ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGES AFFILIATED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF KERALA & CENTRES OF THE UNIVERSITY FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR: 2016-2017 1.

INTRODUCTION Prospectus for admission to the Post Graduate (PG) Degree Courses in Govt./Aided/Self financing Affiliated Colleges & Centres of the University, for the academic year 2016-17, as approved by the University of Kerala, is published herewith. It contains general information and rules relating to the admission to PG Degree Courses in Govt./Aided/Self financing affiliated Colleges under the University of Kerala & Centres of the University.

The Prospectus issued by the University and various colleges during the previous years for PG admissions are not valid for the year 2016-17. Admissions to the seats to be filled by the University for the PG courses (except those specifically mentioned) are regulated on the basis of grade/marks obtained in the qualifying examination. The details of seats, to which admissions are made through the rank list prepared accordingly, are contained in the relevant paragraphs.

Statute 19 (3), of Chapter 24 of the KUFS.1977 which states that ‘no student shall be admitted to any course of instruction in the colleges in anticipation of affiliation’, shall be strictly adhered to, in all the colleges.

1.5

Authority to prescribe qualification for admission to the various courses of studies. According to Sub-Section (v) and (vi) of Section 25 of the Kerala University Act, 1974, the Academic Council shall have the power to prescribe qualifications for admission of students to the various courses of study (and to the Examinations) and the conditions under which exemptions shall be granted, and to make provision for the admission of students to the various courses of studies on the basis of merit in order to maintain the standards of education.

1.6

Agreement for Direct Payment - Relevant provisions for admission to the various courses in aided colleges. Article 18 of the Agreement for Direct Payment entered into between the Government and the Educational Agencies of Private Colleges stipulates that all future admission of students to the Private Affiliated Colleges shall be on the following basis, viz :a) Twenty percent of the total number of seats in each college under the Educational Agency shall be reserved for students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Those seats which cannot be filled on this basis shall be filled on the basis of merit from among backward minority communities, in case the college is run by a backward minority community and from among OBCs , in all other cases. b) *Ten/Twenty **percent of the seats shall be reserved for the candidates belonging to the community to which the college belongs. These seats will be filled strictly on the basis of merit from among the students of the said community. c) *Fifty/Forty **percent of the seats will be filled by open selection on the basis of merit. d) The remaining seats will be filled by the Educational Agency by candidates of their choice. Note: * This will apply to Forward Community Colleges ** This will apply to Backward Community Colleges.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION 1. All candidates who wish to apply for PG Programme (irrespective of Category) must compulsorily register online, including Community Quota and Management Quota. 2. Those who wish to apply for admission under Community quota shall submit hard copy(Print out) of the application, to the respective colleges, within the time prescribed by the University. 3. The candidates who are applying for Sports Quota should specifically mention the same during the Online Registration. They are considered for General merit seats also. Such candidates should take the hard copy of the application and submit it to the respective Colleges where they wish to be considered under Sports Quota along with the attested copies of the supporting documents. 4. The candidates who come under the PWD (Persons With Disability-Differently Abled) quota should specifically mention the same at the time of online registration. 5. The candidates applying for Management quota seats / Special reservation Nominees should register online before the closure of admission. After completion of the online registration, the candidate should take the print out of the same. DO NOT SEND HARD COPIES TO THE UNIVERSITY. The hard copy of the online application with supporting documents should be kept by the candidate and it has to be submitted at the time of admission in the respective colleges.

6. Candidates coming under SC/ST/OEC/SEBC are not eligible for BPL reservation. Only the candidates belonging to the Forward communities who are economically backward are eligible for BPL reservation. A certificate from local body (Panchayat/Municipality/Corporation) to that effect along with community certificate from the competent authority shall be produced at the time of admission. In case of failure to specify the community, the candidate shall not be eligible for reservation in the BPL category. Admission to the following PG courses will not come under the purview of Centralised Allotment Process. The eligibility criteria and admission procedures for the following courses shall be as prescribed in the ‘Hand Book for Admission’ of the University. MBA, MCA, MAHRM, MPE, MSW, MFA, and MASLP. COURSES, INSTITUTIONS AND SEATS Details of Courses and Duration: The course leads to Masters Degree in the relevant subject. The course extends for a period of four semesters. The course of study shall be by regular attendance for the requisite number of lectures, practical training and other means. Institutions and Subjects for the PG Degree Courses: The list of colleges to which admissions are to be made and the subjects offered and the total strength in each institution are given as Annexure –I, in the Prospectus Categorization of Seats: Seats available in Govt/Aided/Self financing Affiliated Colleges are mainly classified as Merit Seats/ Community seats/Management seats and Reservation seats. a. Merit Seats: The seats that are to be filled by the University in Government/Aided/Self financing Affiliated Colleges are classified as “Merit Seats.” b. Community Seats: The seats in aided Colleges that are filled by the Management concerned, on the basis of merit among their community candidates, are classified as “Community Seats.” c. Management Seats: The seats in Aided and Self-financing affiliated Colleges that are to be filled by the Managements concerned are classified as “Management Seats.”

3.1

d. Reservation Seats: The seats in Government/Aided/Self-financing affiliated Colleges/Centres of the University that are earmarked for SC/ST/SEBC/BPL/PWD/Reservation for Nominees/Sports persons are classified as “Reservation Seats.” RESERVATION OF SEATS Apart from the merit seats, the seats earmarked for SC/ST candidates in Government/Aided/Self-financing Colleges/Centres of the University will be filled by the University. In addition to this, SEBC seats in Government/Self-financing Colleges also will be filled by the University. Types of Reservations: Seats will be reserved for the following categories in Government/Aided/Self-financing Colleges/UITs for various PG courses. a. b. c. d. e.

Reservation for Nominees Reservation for Persons With Disabilities Special Reservation Mandatory Reservation Reservation of seats for the Widows/Wards of Armed Forces Personnel killed/disabled in action

Reservation for Nominees: a. An additional seat shall be created in all Government/Aided Colleges exclusively for the purpose of accommodating students sponsored by the Union Territory of Lakshadweep. This seat shall not be filled up by other candidates. The Head of the Institutions should forward the list of such candidates admitted, separately, to the University, immediately after admissions (Govt. Letter No.5455/B3/2006/H Edn., dated 15.03.2006) (U.O.No.Ac.B/ 1/1134/2006dated 26.04.2006). They also should register online before or after admission. b. Two additional seats shall be created in all Affiliated Colleges exclusively for the purpose of accommodating candidates belonging to Jammu & Kashmir for admission to PG courses from the academic year 2014 – 2015 onwards (U.O.No.Ac.B1/2292/Admns/2012 dated 01.03.2013). Such students should also register online before or after admission and approach Colleges for admission and the Principal should forward the list of such candidates after admission. These seats shall not be filled up by other candidates. C. One Seat each be created for each PG course (only wherever necessary) in all affiliated Arts & Science Colleges exclusively for the purpose of accommodating Malayalee students of Andaman in the University of Kerala. The colleges shall submit the list of such admitted students to the University, immediately after admissions along with the documents to prove that the student belongs to the malayalee community in Andaman. This seat shall not be filled up by other candidates.

3.1.2

Reservation for Persons With Disabilities (PWD)-Differently Abled Persons 3% of the total seats will be set apart exclusively for physically handicapped candidates in Government Colleges. The remaining seats will be considered as one single unit for providing reservation mentioned in the Government Order [G.O [Ms] No.107/08/Higher Edn dated 30/08/2008,and corresponding UO dated 20/09/2008. The applicants under this quota will be selected on the basis of existing rules. 1. One seat for each post graduate course in all other Colleges shall be reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates. 2. These seats are over and above the sanctioned strength of the Course/subjects in the College and the same will be sanctioned by the University every year. As per Clause 2 (t), Chapter I of the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995, “Person with disability” means a person suffering from not less than 40% of any disability as certified by a Medical Board constituted for this purpose. Candidates who have a minimum of 40% disability alone will be eligible to apply for this quota.



Candidates seeking admission under PWD category should attach “Certificate of disability , issued not earlier than 5 years prior to the admission, by the District Medical Board or bodies of higher status, University of Kerala PG Admission – 2016

certifying the degree of percentage of disability. Authorities of all Educational Institutions/College affiliated to the University of Kerala are directed to make appropriate arrangements for Medical examination of students with disabilities at the place of counselling/admission, in the event of the authenticity of disability certificate being produced by the candidate is in doubt. Otherwise, the disability certificate issued by the appropriate authority should suffice. (Circular No.Ac.BI/PH/2011, dated 26.02.2011).  The selection of candidates under this category will be based on the rank in the inter-se merit list and not on the basis of the degree of disability.  No reservation of seats is allowed for Blind candidates for Science subjects.  In Government Colleges, the seats remaining vacant due to the non-availability of candidates under “Persons with Disability” category, will go to the open merit quota unless otherwise mentioned. 3.1.3

Special Reservation: -

3.1.3(A)Sports Quota The seats reserved under Sports Quota come under this category. The following norms are prescribed for admission under this quota. 1. One seat for every 20 seats may be reserved for outstanding sportsperson. 2. Where the number of seats is less than 20 for a subject, the seats may be pooled together, M.A., M.Sc. and M.Com being treated separately. Where the total number of seats, after pooling, exceeds multiples of 20, an additional seat can be created, if the excess number is 16 or more. 3. Where the number of seats is still less than 16 after such pooling, all PG courses may be pooled together. 4. A minimum of one seat may be given if there are not sufficient seats. 5. The candidates who are applying for Sports Quota should specifically mention the same during the Online Registration. They will also be considered for General merit seats.

3.1.3(B)Arts Quota Students who are declared as Kalaprathibha / Kalathilakam of the University of Kerala in any year during their Degree course, and who are applicants for PG Course in a College affiliated to this University, during the succeeding academic year shall be admitted to the PG course/College of his/her first option, if otherwise eligible, by creating seats over and above the sanctioned strength. 3.1.4

Mandatory Reservation

3.1.4. a Leaving the seats set apart for Persons With Disabilities, the remaining seats for each course in Govt. Colleges will be distributed as per the G.O (MS) No.107/08/H.Edn. dated 30.8.08 and corresponding U.O AcB/I/Admns BC/2008 dated 20.9.2008.

Candidates who enjoy communal reservation such as SEBC, SC/ST who have BPL endorsement in the Ration Card are not eligible for BPL reservations. Only candidates belonging to Forward Communities who are Economically Backward are eligible for BPL reservations. Such candidates must produce BPL certificate from the Village Officer/Revenue Authority/Local Body concerned along with community certificate from the competent authority. In case of failure to specify the community, the candidate shall not be eligible for reservation in the BPL category. Note: As per U.O AcB/I/Admns BC/2008 dated 20.09.2008, for reservation of 20% seats under SEBC, the total seats for PG courses in a college will be taken as one unit. If necessary, for allotment of such seats, rotation system will be followed. Note: (a) Thiyya and Billava will be considered as Ezhava Community for reservation. (b) For SEBC candidates Annual Family Income should be below Rs.6 lakhs for getting the benefit of reservation. (c) The enhancement of additional seats in Government colleges and University Departments shall not incur any additional financial commitment to the Government/ University. 3.1.4.b In Affiliated Aided Colleges, seats for each course will be distributed as per the existing pattern given below: Sl No. I

Note: The seats under community quota in Aided Colleges will be filled on the basis of merit and on the basis of Community Certificate issued by the Revenue Authorities/Parish Priest/any other Competent Authority. The remaining seats (20%) will be filled by the Educational Agency (ie. Management) with candidates of its own choice. The academic eligibility of such candidates shall be the same as prescribed in the Prospectus, 2016-17. 3.1.4.c In Self-Financing affiliated colleges 50% seats under Government quota will be filled on the basis of merit. Reservation of Seats for the Widows/Wards of Armed Forces Personnel Killed/Disabled in action Additional seats over and above the sanctioned strength may be created as and when required for the widows/wards of Armed Forces Personnel killed/disabled in action during peace time in Central/State Universities/Autonomous Professional/Non-professional institutions under the purview of Ministry of Human Resources Development as per UGC policy.

4.

CLAIMS FOR MANDATORY RESERVATION AND CERTIFICATES TO BE PRODUCED Claims for Mandatory Reservations must be made by a candidate at the time of submission of online application. Candidates should also mention the item of reservation claimed in the relevant columns in the online application. Candidates should also satisfy the eligibility conditions as per Clause 5 of the Prospectus. The claims for mandatory reservation once made in the application cannot be altered by the candidate under any circumstances.

4.1.

Merit Seats: The seats under the Merit category will be filled purely on merit basis irrespective of the Category/Community to which the candidates belong.

4.1.2.

Claim for Communal reservation under ‘Socially and Educationally Backward Classes’ (SEBC): Reservation of seats to the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes will be in accordance with the provisions contained in G.O. (P) 208/66/Edn. Dated 2.5.1966, as amended from time to time. a.

Candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes as per G.O. (Ms) No.132/2011/H.Edn. dated 12.08.2011, whose annual family income (i.e., annual income of all members in the family from all sources taken together) is up to Rs. 6 lakhs (Rupees Six lakhs only), are eligible for reservation under this category. Only the claims of the candidates of those communities that are included in the list of communities will be considered. (U.O.No. Ac.BI/UG Admns. BC/2011, dated 11.01.2012).

Candidates belonging to Ezhava, Muslim, Other Backward Hindus, Latin Catholic/SIUC and Other Backward Christian communities, claiming reservation under SEBC Quota should invariably obtain both “Community” and “Income Certificates” from the Village Officer concerned. Candidates, whose annual family income is above Rs.6 lakhs, are not eligible for SEBC reservation. Note:

Annexure I), who belong to the community of the Management which runs the college, will have to submit the Community Certificate obtained from the Revenue Authority/ Parish Priest/ any other Competent Authority concerned, along with the application to the concerned college. 4.1.3 Claim for Reservation under Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes Quota a. Candidates claiming reservation under Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes quota should obtain the Caste/Community Certificate from the Tahsildar. Those who produce false SC/ST Certificate for claiming reservation under SC/ST quota shall be liable for penalties as per rules. b.

Claim of OEC candidates against the un-availed seats of SC/ST candidates. Other Eligible Community (OEC) candidates who claim allotment to the un-availed seats, if any, under SC/ST quota should furnish Community and Income certificates obtained from the Village Officer concerned. Those OEC candidates whose annual family income is upto Rs. 6 lakhs (Rupees six lakhs) alone are eligible for such seats. OEC seats will be filled as per rules laid by the Govt. Converted Christians do not come under the SC/ST category. They belong to OEC category. (Ref. Annexure IV)

4.2 4.2.1

Other General Rules for Mandatory Reservation In the Government/Self-financing Colleges, if the seats reserved for SC/ST candidates are not filled up by them even after notifying the vacancies three times through the media (on three different dates), those seats may be filled up by candidates belonging to OEC, and in their absence, candidates belonging to SEBC as per the existing rules. The seats that still remain un-availed will go to the Open Merit Quota. In Backward community Colleges with Minority Status , if the seats reserved for SC/ST candidates are not filled up by SC/ST candidates even after notifying the vacancies three times through the media (on three different dates), those seats may be filled up by candidates belonging to the respective community. In other aided Colleges, if the seats reserved for SC/ST candidates are not filled up by SC/ST candidates even after notifying the vacancies three times through the media(on three different dates), those seats may be filled up by candidates belonging to SEBC.

4.2.2

Claim for fee concession to OEC candidates: Candidates belonging to Other Eligible Communities are exempted from payment of fee at the time of allotment to PG Degree Courses under Government/Community quota irrespective of annual family income as per G.O (MS) No. 36/07/SCSTDD, dated: 03.07.2007. They should provide the Community Certificate from the Village Officer/ Tahsildar at the time of admission.

Note: Non-Creamy Layer Certificates will not be accepted under any circumstances for Educational /Admission purposes. ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION Nativity: Candidate should be an Indian citizen. Candidates seeking admission to PG courses will be categorized as Keralite and Non-Keralite. a. Keralite: A candidate of Kerala origin will be categorized as a Keralite. Children of All India Service Officers allotted to Kerala Cadre are deemed to be Keralites as per G.O. (Rt) No. 822/08/H.Edn.Dated 09-05-2008. But they will not be eligible for communal/special reservation. b.

Non-Keralite: A candidate who does not come under Keralite category will be categorized as

Non-Keralite. Such a candidate will be eligible for admission only after all the applicants of Keralite origin are University of Kerala PG Admission – 2016

ranked and allotted. 5.1.1

In order to prove that a candidate is an Indian citizen of Kerala origin for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, he/she has to produce any one of the following certificates. a. In the case of candidates who have undergone College studies in Kerala, a Course Certificate from the Head of the educational institution last attended in Kerala, certifying that the candidate has undergone his/her studies in Kerala for not less than 3 (three) years within a continuous period of 12 (twelve) years, immediately prior to the completion of the Bachelor’ Degree or equivalent examination.

b. A certificate from the Village Officer/ Tahsildar to show that he/she or his/her mother/ father was born in Kerala. OR

c. Certificate from the Village Officer/ Tahsildar to the effect that the candidate has been a resident of Kerala State for a period of five years within a continuous period of twelve years OR

d. The true copy of relevant page of Secondary School Leaving Certificate showing the Place of Birth in Kerala, of the candidate. OR

e. The true copy of the relevant page of the Secondary School Leaving Certificate showing Place of Birth in Kerala of either of the parents of the candidate with corroborative certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and the candidate. OR

f. The true copy of the relevant page of the Passport of the candidate issued by the Government of India , showing Place of Birth in Kerala or of either of the parents of the candidate showing Place of Birth in Kerala with corroborative certificate to establish the relationship between the parent and the candidate. 5.1.2 5.1.3

5.2 5.2.1

Non-Keralites should furnish a copy of the Certificate of Nativity from the revenue authority or local body concerned. If an applicant for admission is found to have indulged in ragging in the past or if it is noticed later that he/she had indulged in ragging, admissions shall be denied or he/she shall be expelled from the educational institution. Academic Eligibility a. Candidates should have passed the corresponding Degree examination under the 10+2+3 pattern with Core Course and Complementary Course/with one main subject and two subsidiary subjects from any of the Universities in Kerala or of any other University recognized by the University of Kerala as equivalent thereto for admission, subject to the stipulation regarding grade/marks. b. Double or Triple main candidates or candidates who have passed the Degree Examination in Vocational or Specialized Courses are also eligible for admission. However, they have to submit a copy of the Equivalency and Eligibility certificate from the University of Kerala, stating that, their qualifying examination is recognized for seeking admission to the relevant PG Degree programme as applicable, at the time of admission. c. The minimum requirement of grade/marks for admission to PG Degree Courses is given in the relevant sections.

No rounding off of the percentage of marks to the nearest whole number is permitted. 5.3 5.3.1

Choice of optional subjects The optional subject for the PG Degree course should be the same as the one, which the student has selected as Core Course for Graduation, or the main subject for Graduation conventionally recognized to be coming under the optional chosen. In case, the Core Course is different from the subject opted for admission, the eligibility will be decided as per the existing rules of the University.

5.3.2

Eligibility Criteria Candidates seeking admission to PG Degree courses have to satisfy the academic eligibility as described in the following sub clauses:

English as Core Course securing not less than 4.5CCPA(S) * out of 10 or Graduation in any programme in the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Oriental Studies and Fine Arts securing not less than 5 CCPA out of 10 for English Language Courses (common courses)/B.A English & Communicative English/B.A English Language and Literature under CBCS System.

English: B. A. English as Core Course securing not less than 1.8 CGPA(S) * out of 4 or Graduation in any programme in the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Oriental Studies and Fine Arts securing not less than 2 CGPA out of 4 for English Language Courses (common courses)/B.A English & Communicative English/B.A English Language and Literature under CBCS System.

For Non-English degree holders, the maximum credits that can be earned in English Language Course should be at least of 19 Credits to acquire eligibility for admission.

Note: (i) In respect of candidates who want to avail bonus marks for NCC the marks will be awarded on the basis of NCC Certificates signed by the Director and issued by the Directorate of NCC to the candidates who have secured at least 75% of attendance after having participated in its activities during the course of study immediately preceding the course for which admission is sought. (Except ‘C’ Certificate holders in NCC) (ii) In respect of candidates who want to avail bonus marks for NSS the marks will be awarded on the basis of NSS Certificates signed by the Vice Chancellor and issued by the University to volunteers who have completed 240 hours of work within a period of two years in the course of study immediately preceding the course for which admission is sought. (iii) The benefit of bonus marks for purpose of admission can be availed by the candidates only under any one category (either NCC or NSS). b. The Programme and college will be displayed below. A candidate can register all the available options by repeating the steps given above, if he/she desires so. However, it is not compulsory that he/she should exercise all the options. The candidate is advised to give option to colleges / courses depending upon his/her interest. The preference numbers along with the selected options shows the priority of options. So candidate must be very careful in prioritizing their options. The steps involved in changing the preference of options are summarized below. a. Select the option to be changed. b. Suppose the candidate wants to change preference to a higher one (eg:-option with preference no.3 need to be changed to the one with preference no 2), click the row with the option to be moved, click Up arrow ( that it will be changed accordingly. By clicking the down arrow (

c. DO NOT FORGET to click the button 'Save & Refresh Options' to finalize selected options. If any alteration is made in the selected option list, DO NOT FORGET to click 'Save & Refresh Options' button. After adding all the options click “Preview and Verify Completed Application” button for further registration. Step 7: VERIFY THE APPLICATION The candidate can verify/edit the submitted application again before taking the print out of the completed Application form. After clicking the 'Print Completed Application' button, no changes can be made in the submitted application form.

Step 8: Print out of completed application form Click the 'Print Completed Application' button to take the print out of the completed application form. The Registration process is completed only after taking the print out of the completed application form. Those candidate who have not taken the print out of the completed application form will not be considered for the admission.

Candidates are instructed to submit their application online within the time schedule specified, through admission portal. DO NOT SEND HARD COPIES TO THE UNIVERSITY. The hard copy of the online application with supporting documents should be kept by the candidate and it has to be submitted at the time of admission in the respective college THE CANDIDATE WHO HAS NOT TAKEN THE PRINTOUT OF THE APPLICATION FORM WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ADMISSION, THIS ONLINE APPLICATION WILL BE REJECTED WITHOUT ANY NOTIFICATION.

7.5

Updating the information and options already given online. A candidate can edit some of the

information given at the time of registration, by entering the Home Page using his/her application number, password (Date of Birth given as default password) as per the following procedure: a. Go to the website http://admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in and enter the application number, and Date of Birth which is given as password in the Applicant Login section. (Date of Birth in the format dd/mm/yyyy). It is advised to change the password immediately using the link “PASSWORD” to

prevent any type of

intrusion by any unauthorized person. The candidate should note down the password and application number. b. A valid applicant will be directed to his/her home page with a group of navigation links (My Home, Index Mark, Edit Profile, Completed Profile, Password and Logout). In the link ‘My Home’ the applicant can view the status of the application. Click the ‘Preview & Print Completed Application’ button to view /print the application. c. For updating the personal profile, the candidate has to go to the ‘Personal Profile’ link where he/she can edit some of the information's given at the time of online registration. d. The link ‘My Options’ is provided for the candidate to add/delete/change the preference of the Options. e. If the candidate wishes to change the existing password, he/she can use the link ‘Password’. f. After making all the changes, the candidate can take the latest printout from ‘Completed Profile’ page. g. The candidate is advised to use the ‘Logout’ link at the time of exit from his/her Home Page Note: The candidate NEED NOT SUBMIT the print out of the online applications and other documents to the University. A copy of the printout of the application has to be retained by the Candidate. The print out and the original of all certificates shall be produced before the Principal at the time of reporting for admission.

8.1

Trial Allotment: A trial allotment will be conducted to give an idea about the chances of getting allotment to a Programme and college, based on the options registered and the rank of the candidate. The trial allotment does not guarantee the candidate, a seat in a College or a Programme.

8.2

First Allotment: After the trial allotment and the period earmarked for revising options, the first allotment list will be published in the website http://admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in on the date to be notified. The allotment list will show the personal details, the college and the Programme to which the candidate is allotted to and the fee to be remitted. The candidate has to download the allotment memo which has to be produced before the Principal at the time of admission, from website after entering details of the prescribed fee. The Memo will be available only after the second allotment. The candidates who get allotment have to remit the University fee as per the procedure mentioned in clause 8.3 and ensure their seat, and those who fail to remit the fee in time will not be considered for further allotment.. The candidates will have to follow the notification of the

University with regard to the date of admission in

the concerned college. 8.3

Remitting Fee

8.3.1

The fee due to the University for the Programme will have to be remitted in any branch of State Bank of Travancore using the special Chalan of Kerala University available in the ‘Allotment’ page of valid applicant’s homepage in the website (http://admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in. After remitting the fees the candidate has to log in using their application number and password and update the chalan details. The original pay-in-slip from the bank should be produced in the college at the time of admission. The candidate without the original pay-in-slip will not be allowed to join the college. The candidates should keep the original pay-in-slip after verification in the college. It will be required for further allotment, if any. After remitting the fees the candidate has to re login and should enter the fee details to confirm his/her admission. Note: The University fee once remitted will not be refunded.

8.3.2

Candidates SHALL NOT remit the fee in any other form like Demand Draft, Cheque etc.

8.3.3

Those candidates, who do not remit the fee on or before the date specified and in the specified method vide Clause 8.3.1 and not entered the remittance details, will lose their current allotment as well as the eligibility for further allotments.

8.3.4

SC/ST/OEC candidates, who get allotment, shall remit an amount of Rs. 100 /- as described under Clause 8.3.1. Fee remitted by way of Demand Draft/Cheque/etc. will not be accepted under any circumstances.

8.4

Cancellation/Activation of options after the first allotment: Candidates who remit the fee as per the first allotment within the prescribed time limit will have the facility to cancel/activate their higher options before the second allotment during a specified period which will be notified.

8.4.1

After the first allotment, the options below the ‘allotted one’ of the candidate will automatically be removed from the option list of the candidate. For example, if a candidate had registered 20 options in all, and if he/she is allotted his/her 10th option, all options from 11 to 20 will be automatically removed

from the option list. Options from 1 to 9 will remain valid and will be considered for future allotments. He/she may cancel/activate any options among the remaining options as per his/her desire. But the candidate will not be permitted to register any fresh options to the existing ones. 8.4.2

Existing options registered by the candidate, available in the Home Page, can be cancelled one by one by clicking the “ CANCEL ” button shown against each option or all higher options can be cancelled by clicking “ CANCEL ALL HIGHER OPTIONS ” button, if the candidate desires so. Option once cancelled can be activated again using “ACTIVATE” button, within a specified time period.

8.4.3

If a candidate is satisfied with an allotment and does not want to be considered again for further allotment(s), he/she must cancel all the remaining higher options. A candidate retaining all or any

of

his/her higher options after an allotment, is bound to accept the new allotment, if any, failing which, he/she will lose the existing allotment as well as the new allotment; moreover he/she will not be considered for any further allotments. 8.4.4 8.5

The facility for cancellation/activation of options will be available during the notified period only.

Second/Further Allotment and Remittance of Fee: The second/further allotment list will be published on the date which will be notified. A candidate who gets an allotment at any stage will have to remit the prescribed fee for the course allotted, through the method specified in Clause 8.3.1 The candidates need to remit the fee due to the University only once during this process of allotment which would confirm their seat in any of the colleges as per their preference and eligibility. Note: The date of reporting to the college concerned for taking admission will be notified in due course.

8.6

Downloading Allotment memo After remitting University fee for the prescribed Programme, candidates can Login to their homepage using their application number and password for downloading the memo after the second allotment. Using the link ‘Allotment’ the applicant can view his/her allotment details. After furnishing the details of University fee for prescribed Programme, the student can download allotment memo which has to be produced before the principal at the time of admission.

8.7

Those candidates who do not remit the fee on or before the date specified and in the specified method vide Clause 8.3.1 and enter the details in the Website will lose their current allotment as well as the eligibility for further allotments.

8.8

8.9 Post Allotment Activities: Reporting at the College: Candidates who get allotment will have to report before the Principal/Head of the College/Institution concerned for admission on the dates notified, with the following documents: a) Print out of completed online application generated by the Candidate. b) Fee receipt (Original copy) towards Registration fee c) Allotment Memo (Latest) d) Original mark list of the qualifying examination and provisional /degree certificates e) Fee Receipt (Original Copy) towards special fee affiliation, matriculation, recognition, eligibility fee f) Certificate to prove date of birth g) TC from the Institution last attended h) Course & Conduct Certificate i) Original Community Certificate/BPL Certificate j) Income certificate in the case of SEBC/ OEC candidates. k) Original certificates to prove the claim for grace marks, if any. l) Eligibility certificate from the University of Kerala in case of candidates who have passed the Qualifying Examination from other Universities. m) Migration certificate if applicable. 8.10

Fees other than the one already paid vide clause 8.3.1, as applicable to the course /institution, will

have to be remitted by the candidate at the time of taking admission in the college. 8.11

Verification of Documents: The Principal/Head of the Institution shall be personally responsible

for verification and satisfaction of the correctness of the records produced by the candidate at the time of admission in the College/Institution. The candidates should fulfil the eligibility criteria at the time of online registration and all relevant documents shall be submitted at the respective colleges during the time of admission. The Principal /Head of the Institution will have the right to deny an allotment/admission if he/ she finds any relevant mismatch in the original documents and online data that has affected the allotment process. 8.12 Failure to report for Admission: Candidates who do not take admission on the prescribed date and time in the allotted college will lose their admissions. They will not be considered for further allotments. 8.13 Cancellation of Higher Options after joining a college: Candidates who join the college on the date specified can cancel their remaining options fully or partially or change the priority of their remaining options before the date specified as per the procedure specified in Clause 8.3. A candidate, not interested in any further allotments, must cancel all his/her higher options before the specified date, failing which, the options will remain live and will be considered for further allotments, if any. All candidates securing admission to the PG programme should compulsory remit the University fees (General-710/-, SC/ST/OEC-100/-) in any branch of SBT by down loading the admission fee chalan.

9. 9.1

Allotment in Colleges to Candidates with multiple Claims under Mandatory Quota: All candidates included in the Rank Lists are eligible for allotment under State Merit (SM). Candidates might b e entitled f o r other reservation q u o t a s a l s o under M a n d a t o r y Reservation. For example, a candidate may have the benefit of SEBC reservation (EZ/MU/BH/LC/BX) or Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) claim. The seats will be offered on the hierarchy of quotas. The hierarchy in order is as follows: of (i) State Merit (SM) - All candidates included in the Rank Lists are eligible fo r allotment under State Merit. (ii) Communal Reservation (SEBC/SC/ST). A candidate without SEBC/SC/ST reservation benefit will be considered only against the “State Merit" seats w h e r e v e r available at the t i m e o f allotment. Such candidates will b e allotted a seat as per the availability of seats.

10.2

Candidates belonging to SC/ST communities allotted against merit s e a t s o r against the seats reserved for them are exempted from payment of fee. Candidates belonging to OEC admitted against merit seats or against the un-availed seats of SC/ST are exempted from payment of fee (As per G.O.(M S) No.14/2005/SCSTDD dated 5.4.2005 & G.O.(Ms) No.36/07/SCSTDD dated 03.07.2007). Candidates belonging t o OEC admitted t o Government seats through SEBC reservation are also exempted from payment of fee (As per G.O.(Ms) No. 50/2006/SCSTDD dated 22.09.2006).

10.3

Claim for fee concession to OEC candidates: Candidates belonging to Other Eligible Communities (OEC) are exempted from payment of fee at the time of

allotment to Post Graduate Courses under Government/Community quota irrespective of annual family income as per G.O. (MS) No. 36/07/SCSTDD, dated: 03.07.2007. They should provide Community Certificate from the Village Officer along with the acknowledgement. 10.4

SC/ST/OEC candidates will have to pay the “ Caution Deposit” as per rules.

11.

PAYMENT OF FEE: The fee for a course allotted to the candidate will have to be paid in the method prescribed only ( Refer Clause 8 . 3 . 1 ) within the s t i p u l a t e d time. If a candidate is moved to another course in a s u b s e q u e n t allotment, he/she need not remit the University f e e a g a i n . Candidates g et t i n g fresh allotment will have to r e m i t the fees a p p l i c a b l e as p e r the procedure given in clause 8.3.1.

12.

OTHER ITEMS

12.1

The whole process of allotment to the P G Degree courses 2015-16 will b e done by the University of Kerala.

12.2

The University of Kerala will not entertain any request for change of any date fixed in the Centralized Allotment Process/Admission, from time to time.

12.3

All disputes pertaining to the allotment for admission shall fall within the jurisdiction of the Hon'ble High Court of Kerala.

12.4

Any other items not specifically covered i n t h i s Prospectus will b e d e c i d e d by t h e University of Kerala and the decision shall be final.
