Pitt's Jamel Artis and Michael Young rank 1-2 in the ACC in scoring, both at over 20 points per game, while Clemson's Jaron Blossomgame is seventh at 18.1. • Blossomgame tied the late Demontez Stitt for fifth in Clemson history with his 111th start as a Tiger against Virginia Tech. He will tie Terrell McIntyre (1995-99) for fourth by starting Saturday's game. • Blossomgame needs just eight points to become the 11th player in Clemson history with 1,500 over a career. TIGERS COMPLETE ‘EARN YOUR ORANGE’ CHALLENGE • Brad Brownell took his team through a five-week series in the preseason entitled ‘Earn Your Orange,’ where players were given a weekly challenge that included mile runs, campus runs, hill runs, football field lengths, learning the alma mater, and a community service project with ClemsonLIFE. • Clemson also practiced five sessions with the women’s rowing staff, learning how to compete together as a team on Lake Hartwell.

GAME NOTES & MISCELLANEOUS STATS TIGERS LOOK FOR TWO STRAIGHT IN PETERSEN EVENTS CENTER • Clemson traveled to Pittsburgh, Pa., on Jan. 10, 2015 and won its first game in the series with the Panthers at Petersen Events Center, 71-62. • Two current seniors on the Clemson team were instrumental in that win over Pitt, Jaron Blossomgame and Sidy Djitte. Blossomgame posted a teamhigh 18 points, to go with six rebounds. Djitte scored eight and added seven rebounds off the bench in just 14 minutes. • Overall, Clemson shot 44 percent from three-point range and hit 15-20 free throws to top Pitt, coached at the time by Jamie Dixon.

CLEMSON BEAT A RANKED PITT TEAM LAST SEASON IN GREENVILLE • One of four wins over top-25 teams in January 2016, Clemson defeated Pittsburgh 73-60 in Greenville, S.C., the last time the two met. • Clemson shot 47 percent in the win over the Panthers, while holding Pitt to 38 percent shooting as a team. Clemson committed just nine turnovers. • Jaron Blossomgame was big again, scoring 22 points to lead the way. Four Tigers scored in double figures, including Avry Holmes with 13.

TIGERS HAD LONGEST WINNING STREAK SINCE 2008-09 • With the win over Wake Forest to start ACC play, Clemson won its ninth straight game, the longest streak under coach Brad Brownell. Clemson's longest winning streak since 2008-09 (16) was snapped in the overtime loss to North Carolina on Jan. 3. During the winning streak, the Tigers were 3-0 in games decided by five points or less.

CLEMSON CLOSED OUT NON-CONFERENCE PLAY 10-2 • The Tigers finished non-conference play 10-2, the program's best winning percentage in non-conference play (.833) since 2009-10, when Oliver Purnell's last team went 12-2 prior to ACC play. • Clemson's win over UNC Wilmington boosted the Tigers to an RPI of No. 24, by far the top non-conference performance in a number of years.

• The Panthers feature the top two scorers in the ACC, Jamel Artis and Michael Young. Together, the two stars average 42 points per game. • Artis accounted for one of the ACC's highest point totals this season when he posted 43 in a loss at Louisville on Jan. 11. He is second in the ACC in three-point goals per game (2.7). • Young has made 108 free throws, second-most among ACC players. • Kevin Stallings, formerly at Vanderbilt, is in his first season with the Panthers. DECEMBER WAS PERFECT FOR THE TIGERS • Clemson closed out the year 2016 on the highest note possible, winning all seven of its games in the month of December. • It marked the first time since December 2008 that the Tigers finished a month with a perfect record. • During the month, Clemson posted three road wins (Alabama, South Carolina, Wake Forest) and defeated three teams in the top 100 of the RPI.

CLEMSON FLIPS SCRIPT, GOES 3-0 VS. THE SEC • The Tigers have rewritten the script from the 2015-16 season, when Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina all defeated Clemson. This year's group went 3-0 against the same three teams, beating Alabama and South Carolina in consecutive road games. • Clemson last won three games against teams in the SEC in the same season in 2014-15, when the Tigers knocked off LSU, Arkansas and Auburn. • The Tigers are now 8-8 all-time under Brad Brownell against teams from the SEC.

CLEMSON OPENS LITTLEJOHN COLISEUM WITH WIN OVER GEORGIA • The Tigers long anticipated a return to their home arena, which finished a 16-month renovation in October 2016. • Clemson did not disappoint in its return before a capacity crowd. The Tigers beat nearby rival Georgia, avenging a 23-point loss the year before with a 74-64 win to open the season November 11. • The win was the program’s first over a team currently in a “Power 5” conference to open a season since 1996-97, when the Tigers shocked the world by beating defending NCAA champion Kentucky in Indianapolis, Ind.

BROWNELL GETS A WIN OVER FIRST HEAD COACHING STOP • Clemson head coach Brad Brownell earned his start as a head coach at UNC Wilmington from 2002-06. In four seasons, his teams compiled a combined record of 83-40 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament twice. • Brownell was the Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2006, both seasons his teams won conference tournament titles. • He put all the emotions aside on Dec. 28, when he led his Tigers to an 8773 win over Wilmington, the school that first gave him a shot as head coach.

BROWNELL ADVANCES TO ROUND TWO OF INFINITI CHALLENGE • Brad Brownell once again partnered with the Outdoor Dream Foundation to try and raise money for the non-profit venture, which provides outdoor excursions for young people undergoing long-term or life-threatening illnesses. • By advancing to the second round of the Infiniti Coaches Charity Challenge, Brownell helped raise $7,500 for the foundation. THREE TIGERS PLAYING WITH DEGREES • Two members of the Tiger team began play in their final seasons with an undergraduate Clemson degree already in hand, Jaron Blossomgame and Riley McGillan. • The two roomates both graduated this year, McGillan with a marketing degree in May and Blossomgame with a sociology degree in August. • A third, Avry Holmes, joined them on Dec. 15 by graduating with a communication degree.

HOLMES ACHIEVES 1,000 CAREER POINTS • Senior guard Avry Holmes went past the 1,000 career point plateau in Clemson's game against Coppin State on Dec. 4, becoming the second active Tiger to reach 1,000, along with Jaron Blossomgame. • Holmes scored 607 points his first two seasons for the University of San Francisco, and added 311 in his first year of eligibility at Clemson.

HOLMES IMPROVED FROM THREE-POINT RANGE • Avry Holmes shot over 40 percent from long distance each of his two seasons at San Francisco, but saw his accuracy dip to 33 percent in his first season with the Tigers in 2015-16. • But the steady Tiger senior has seen his percentages increase slowly but surely in 2016-17. He leads the Tigers with 43 three-pointers, 10 more than the next closest player. • Holmes has connected on 41 percent this season (49 percent in ACC play), and has made three or more in a game seven times this year, the same amount as last season. • He has made at least one three-point goal in 15 straight games, matching his career-long streak set as a freshman and sophomore as a member of the Dons. His 15-game streak is the fourth-longest by an active ACC player.

MITCHELL PRODUCES CAREER-HIGH 10 ASSISTS • Shelton Mitchell tallied a career-best 10 assists in an admirable effort against Virginia Tech on Jan. 22. • His 10 assists were the most by a Tiger in an ACC game since Jordan Roper also had 10 last season in the second contest of the 2015-16 slate at Syracuse. • Overall, it was the 37th time a Clemson player accumulated 10 or more assists against an ACC team, but just the third since 2003.

MITCHELL PLAYED FOR STALLINGS FOR ONE SEASON • Shelton Mitchell will face his former head coach on Saturday. He spent the 2014-15 season as a freshman at Vanderbilt University. • Mitchell originally signed a letter of intent with Wake Forest, but opted out once a coaching change was made, electing to attend Vanderbilt instead. • With his mind set on the ACC and closer to home in North Carolina, he transferred to Clemson in the spring of 2015.

REED IMPRESSIVE IN PAIR OF DEBUTS AS A TIGER • Marcquise Reed, former Robert Morris standout and 2015 Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year after scoring 15.1 points per game for the Colonials, did not disappoint in his first game as a Tiger. • Reed scored a team-high 19 points, hitting five of 11 field goal attempts and all six of his free throws. He was 3-6 behind the three-point arc in the win over Georgia on Nov. 11. • Reed’s point total was the highest by any Clemson player in a debut since Elden Campbell also scored 19, as a freshman in 1986-87. • He then made his ACC debut with the Tigers in similar fashion, scoring 21 points. His point total was the highest in a first ACC game as a Tiger since 2001-02, when Chey Christie scored 21 against Duke.

REED RETURNS TO THE PITTSBURGH AREA • Marcquise Reed has familiarity with the western Pennsylvania area, having spent his freshman season at Robert Morris in 2014-15. • RMU is located just 20 miles from the Pitt campus. • Reed was Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year after averaging over 15 points per game as a freshman.

THOMAS ADDS DEPTH IN THE FRONTCOURT • Elijah Thomas, a former top-50 recruit who played eight games last season at Texas A&M, made his debut for the Tigers on Dec. 18 at Alabama. He produced five points and three rebounds in 11 minutes. • Thomas transferred to Clemson in the middle of the academic year, and has been practicing with the Tigers since January 2016. • The Dallas, Texas product had a solid showing in his second appearance as a Tiger, compiling career highs in points (12), rebounds (7) and minutes (26) against South Carolina on Dec. 21. • In 10 appearances, Thomas is averaging 7.5 points per game and has made 32 of 51 field goal attempts (.627).
