Ref lections on five years of Partnership with Auckland Grammar School The partnership between InZone and Auckland Grammar School began in 2011 and is currently in its fifth year. These five years have seen an increase in the number of Grammar students living at InZone’s Te Kāinga Wānanga in Owens Road from 28 to 55 this year. A key part of this growth and the success of the project has been the unwavering support of the teachers, students and community of Auckland Grammar School. Grammar’s support for InZone has underpinned the project’s delivery from the beginning. In 2010 InZone’s founder, Terrance Wallace, began looking for a leading New Zealand educational provider to help bring about his vision. He made contact with Grammar’s Director of Enrolment, Deborah George, who organised a meeting with the then Headmaster, John Morris. The meeting led to later support from the School’s Board of Trustees and

22

a group of talented Māori Grammar old boys. The group proved instrumental in getting the project up and running and continues to support InZone today. The relationship between InZone and Auckland Grammar School has strengthened further under the leadership of the current Headmaster, Tim O’Connor. In recent years the School has embraced multiculturalism and InZone boys now have the privilege of teaching Grammar’s Year 9 (Form 3) new entrants the School haka, actively shaping a new tradition in the School’s rich heritage.

2015 saw a milestone achievement of four InZone boys counted amongst the ranks of Grammar prefects including a senior prefect, Antonio Ripata, who has also served the School this year as Captain of the First XV. InZone students are making a full and valuable contribution to the School, and the partnership between our two organisations is successfully helping to nurture and shape the leaders of tomorrow. Thank you Auckland Grammar School for enabling InZone to carry out its important objective of enabling young Māori and Pacific Island boys to maximise their full potential academically and as leaders, for the betterment of their families and communities.

Greetings INZONE

Whānau & Friends Thank you all so much for supporting this year’s Annual Fundraising Auction Evening - for purchasing tickets, donating wonderful auction items and for your enthusiastic bidding! This year we celebrate our achievements and reach a milestone as our first group of Year 13 boys will complete five years and graduate from Auckland Grammar School. This group will become the pioneers of the InZone alumni network. They embark on the next phase of their educational journey well equipped to make the most of the many opportunities available to them. We also celebrate the opening in January of our girls’ hostel in Owens Rd, just a few hundred metres from the boys’ hostel. The fifteen girls attending Epsom Grammar represent a significant new dimension in the delivery of InZone philosophy and values to Maori and Pacific Island students. Thanks to Madeline Gunn and her EGGS team for supporting this new initiative for InZone. At InZone we continually strive to develop the full potential of our students. Sometimes this is very difficult due to a lack of resources. Your ongoing support and contributions are very important to us and any help you can give - financial or volunteer resources - is greatly appreciated. The students have worked hard to present their best to you tonight. Have a great evening – and thank you in anticipation for your valued support.
