WHAT’S NEW This release of Thomson Reuters Messenger provides added variants of the product as well as enhanced features. The new variants actually run the same web-based application that is already integrated in Thomson Reuters Eikon. The product is now being offered in two new containers: Messenger can be accessed in a browser or as a Windows application, as well as being a component in the Thomson Reuters Eikon desktop. The enhanced features are as follows and described in more detail below: • • • • •

Chat rooms now integrated into all variants of Messenger New Blast feature (similar to Group Send) Improved connectivity with your Yahoo! contacts Quick search User interface improvements

THOMSON REUTERS MESSENGER FOR WEB Messenger is now available as a standalone web application that provides the standard messaging capability directly in the browser without the need for any separate application or plug-in installation. You can access it from any Internet Explorer browser by simply accessing this link: https://collab.thomsonreuters.com/messenger/. This version is especially valuable for use from locations other than your usual office PC. It provides the same functionality as the variant integrated into Thomson Reuters Eikon, except for a few features including object sharing and alerts.

THOMSON REUTERS MESSENGER FOR WINDOWS Messenger for Windows provides the same product as Messenger for Web in a dedicated non-browser window. It enhances the user experience by providing notifications such as a flashing taskbar, custom sounds, and pop-ups or toasts, as well as the ability to store your password to automatically load Messenger when Windows starts up. This variant is recommended for everyday use on your office PC.

CHAT Chat rooms are integrated into the web-based Thomson Reuters Messenger, allowing users to access all private and public chat rooms they are entitled to see. Your company’s Chat Room Organizer (CRO) has complete control over room membership, with per-room, per-person granularity. Only the CRO can create chat rooms. Once users are permissioned for a chat room, they can access it via the link provided to them or search for it via the Messenger quick search. You can easily share a file in the room, and hide or display the list of participants. Any chat rooms you keep open when you sign out of Messenger are automatically open the next time you sign back in. A CRO may designate a room as an “auditorium” room to easily broadcast announcements or other relevant information to a large number of users. Only the permissioned speaker can post content. All other participants can only view the posted content. Note: You have access to chat rooms only if you have been provisioned for this feature by your corporate administrator. BLAST You can send a message up to 50 recipients at once by sending a Blast. This is an improved version of the “Group Send” option in the standalone Thomson Reuters Messenger (RM7/RM8). The Blast feature allows you to easily select your preferred contacts from a checklist and send out one or more messages to the distribution list, which you can change between messages. All messages are perceived as personal one-to-one messages, and the responses appear in your one-to-one conversations with each person (either as part of an existing conversation, if there is one, or as a new conversation). The full distribution is visible only to you.

NATIVE YAHOO! CONNECTIVITY Thomson Reuters has improved the connectivity to Yahoo! contacts. You are able to log into the new Thomson Reuters Messenger (for Web, for Windows, and for Eikon) with your Yahoo! account, so that in addition to having the ability to connect to Yahoo! contacts, the Yahoo! contacts see you as your Yahoo! identity, and you are able to turn on and turn off your connection to Yahoo! contacts. We refer to this as “native Yahoo! connectivity.” Messenger for Windows allows you to enter and store your Yahoo! credentials so that each time you sign into Messenger, you get automatically signed into the Yahoo! network. Native connectivity with Yahoo! also enables you to use features of Yahoo! Messenger like the BUZZ! command. For more information, see Instructions for Migrating to Native Yahoo! Connectivity.
