About JBT FoodTech

(formerly known as

)

In 1921, JBT FoodTech, formerly known as FMC FoodTech, installed the first continuous pressure sterilizer in the world, the JBT rotary sterilizer. The rotary pressure sterilizer represented a breakthrough in canning technology and is still one of the key milestones in the industrialization of the canning process. Today, almost 90 years later, JBT FoodTech is still the world’s leading supplier of in-container sterilization systems. With more than 2700 sterilization systems installed worldwide, more than 50% of the world’s canned foods are sterilized on JBT FoodTech equipment. This vast expertise allows us to offer the industry’s widest range of in-container sterilization systems, ranging from small lab units for research application to high capacity, double chain hydrostatic sterilizers for the pet-food industry. JBT FoodTech Process Laboratory in Sint-Niklaas has four professional staff members and one technician, with a combined thermal process experience, in excess of 50 years. We have experience in batch or continuous in-container sterilization of virtually all types of low and high acid foods. Every member of our staff has spent considerable time in food plants and understands that while food safety can never be compromised, efficient production requires prompt and accurate assessment of processes or process deviations. The size of our staff and the skills we possess allow us to provide rapid and accurate responses to your thermal processing concerns not only by offering a wide range of pilot sterilizers but also to contribute to your theoretical knowledge with our “JBT FoodTech Thermal Processing Academy ”.

Why attend? The basic training days will help participants to understand the critical parameters that control the safe and quality-friendly thermal processing of foods. The course uses a combination of class-room training and hands-on sessions to provide an insight in the technological issues related with the thermal processing of foods. Based on this knowledge, participants will be able to understand the impact of their actions and responsibilities on the quality and safety of the product produced. The advanced thermal processing day will provide the participants an insight in the development of thermal processes, how deviations and problems need to be dealt with and how changes to existing processes can affect quality and safety of the product.

Who should attend? The course is intended for all staff members who play a role in the manufacture of safe and high quality canned foods such as: • Line operators • Line supervisors • Plant engineers • Food technologists • Product developers • Quality assurance staff

Course contents • Courses can be given in English and Dutch, depending on attendants preference. • Day 1 and day 3 can also be provided at your facility at your convenience.
