Out of Order! Cut out the sentences. Paste them in order on another sheet of paper. A big, bad wolf blew down the straw house and the stick house. One day, she said, “It is time for you to build houses of your own.” The second little pig built a house of sticks. Once upon a time there were three little pigs, who lived in a house with their mother. When he tried to climb down the chimney at the brick house, he burned his tail and ran away. The third little pig built a house of bricks. The three little pigs lived happily ever after. One little pig built a house of straw.

The Three Little Pigs Once upon a time, there were three little pigs. They lived with their mother in a house in the woods. One day Mother Pig said, “It’s time for you to build houses of your own.” So the three little pigs packed their things and set off. Soon, the first little pig found some straw. “I will build my house of straw,” he said – and he did! A little way on, the second little pig found some sticks. “I will build my house of sticks,” he said – and he did! The third little pig had a different plan. “I don’t want just straw or sticks. I will build my house of bricks,” he said. He found what he needed, and he set to work.

Someone was watching the three little pigs. It was a big, bad, hungry wolf. First he went to the house of straw. “Little pig, little pig, let me in,” he called. “No!” cried the pig. “I will not let you in, not by the hair of my chinny chin chin!” “Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!” snarled the wolf – and he DID! The first little pig ran as fast as he could to the house of sticks. Soon the wolf was at the door. “Little pigs, little pigs, let me in!” he called. “No!” cried the pigs. “We will not let you in, not by the hair of our chinny chin chins!” “Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!” yelled the wolf – and he DID! The pigs raced to the house of bricks. Just as they slammed the door, they heard the wolf outside.

So he huffed and he puffed . . . but he could not blow the house down. So the wolf climbed up onto the roof and into the chimney. “Quick!” said the pigs. “Let’s make a fire.” And they did. “Ouch!” cried the wolf, as the flame touched the tip of his tail. He shot back up the chimney in fright. The big bad wolf jumped off the roof and ran away. He never came back – and the three little pigs lived happily ever after.
