SEASONAL CAMPERS’ LIAISON Allan Moorhouse, Site G-12 As we see August come to a close, we can reflect on another busy, fun and successful month in the Park. The Seasonal Campers’ Recreation Committee held many events during the past month which kept the children busy with crafts, games, bingo and a mini-putt challenge. For the adults, we saw a horseshoe tournament, bingos and a couple more very successful 50/50 draws. On August 1st, a Fishing Derby was held with Vic & Bill McCabe collecting the top prize of $140 with a total catch of 8.14 lbs. Other campers participating in the derby included Steve Sudds & John Van Schie recording 8.10 lbs., Gord Hyland & John Murphy also at 8.10 lbs., Eric & Michaelann Wright with 7.30 lbs., Bernie & Ann Davy with 5.15 lbs., and Gary Kay & Riley Philip with 3.15 lbs. The organizers of the derby were definitely saddened to report that Graydon and Scott Hull came back to shore; skunked. The postponed Poker Tournament was held on August 15th with 1st Prize going to Gerry Ross and 2nd Prize to Bill Baker. A total of $190.00 was paid out in prize money. Thanks to the many Seasonal Camper Volunteers who have contributed to the Park in many different ways. We have been on the receiving end of many positive comments expressing how impressed campers are with the number and variety of activities available to both children and adults alike. Decisions were made at recent meetings of both the Campers’ Recreation Committee and the Park Management Board which will allow for a number of upgrades in 2016. We experienced two weather related event cancellations this summer so the Park Board and the Recreation Committee agreed to share the cost of adding pull down screens/blinds to the Bradford Pavilion so that future cancellations would not be necessary. A Park flag design contest was held in August and a design was chosen. Approval was given for the purchase of five flag poles and flags which we will see as we enter the Park at the main gate next season. Additions will also be made to the fleet of non-motorized watercraft that are available in the Park with both the Recreation Committee and the Park Board purchasing 2 new pedal boats. See you around the Park!

PARK FLAG DESIGN SELECTED A vote of thanks is extended to all of the campers who expressed an interest in and later participated in the contest to design a flag for Lower Beverley Lake Park. Submitted designs were reviewed by the Park Management Board at their regular meeting on August 25th. Created with a theme of Elbe tent camping, the winning selection was submitted by Park Maintenance Attendant Dave Heagle. The official design will be released at a later date. Photo(l-r): Recreation Committee Chairperson Pat Phillips presented Dave Heagle with the prize for the flag contest. Lower Beverley Lake Park Post Newsletter
