Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 70th Sturgis Rally! I'd to thank Broken Spoke Campground for the awesome cover. A little old school – guys flat trackin'. We've put a lot of artwork into this issue to make it a real nice souvenir for you to keep. Well, so much to see and do. Let's start off with Buffalo Chip – Rod and Carol – as always, what a great line-up you have - Ozzie, Bob Dylan – just to mention a few! Look in the book for the back way into the Buffalo Chip. Something for every generation at the Chip! Welcome Rock N' Rev Festival to Sturgis. It's located behind Monkey Rock in the amphitheater. Great line-up of bands. Be sure and check out the entertainment schedule. Broken Spoke has S&S Night, which you'll have to see to believe – the biggest burnout you will ever see! They have a great line-up, too – Eddie Money (16 #1 hits!) will be there. I want to make sure you know about Glencoe, too! From Prevosts to pup-tents, it will be a great camping experience – they know how to crazy party over there! One-Eyed Jacks has the best steaks in town, and some of the hottest bartenders in Sturgis. Across the street we want to welcome Suck Bang Blow, a/k/a SBB, from Myrtle Beach. They are bringing some good old Southern hospitality, big old biker burnouts, and some of the craziest biker games you've ever seen. Just up the road a little is the Side Hack Saloon – adult entertainment for your pleasure. Ladies are welcome, too. Pick up your commemorative Sturgis beer cans as souvenirs. Chris from Cycle Solutions will be on-site at the Monkey Rock and he does Lucas oil changes and makes your bike go really fast (while you wait!!!). Across the street is Full Throttle Saloon – Brett Michaels is playing. Come see the Celebrity Apprentice rock the house – among all his other accolades. Now that's a party. See the schedule for the 4th annual Bike show. The reason Sturgis is in existence is because of the Jackpine Gypsies. I say this every year. Show your support! These guys go up the hill really fast, and come down even faster. It is something to see. Next subject, Tattoos. Sawbones is the one I recommend. There are lot of artists that come to the rally who are fly-by-nights. Sawbones has great artists, a sterile environment and they've been doing it here for 15 years. Stay out of tents, trailers and kitchens. You have to wear it – not them. Oh, don't drink a lot before you get tattooed and remember, you can't give blood for a year. Charities – LegendRides and Kids n' Chrome. Those are the two that I promote. The money goes to the charity and not the administration. There are so many charity rides out there – I want to warn you – be sure where the $$ goes. Some of them are really bad and the money goes in their pocket or outside the USA. Don't just throw that twenty down – there are a lot of con artists out there. The Vore Buffalo Jump shows how the Plains Indians managed to use the landscape to capture Buffalo. It is the site of a current archeological dig and I think you'll find the history pretty interesting. It's worth a stop. Maps – this year we put in a lot of maps that were hand drawn by our awesome illustrator, Thunder. He worked really hard on making these maps really cool, and I have to say this – they are NOT drawn to scale! They are pretty damn close and will get you where you want to go. I want to thank Steve for coming on board with us and helping with sales. Steve did a great job putting together several of the maps with Thunder. Thanks to Linda for her magic fingers, Jerry for putting me together, Matt and Becky at No Name City, Joe and Mel for feeding me, Matt for putting me online, and Frank and Jane for getting me out on time and delivered. You’all are the best. Tell the Advertisers that you saw them in the Pocket Guide because we are advertiser supported. And don’t forget - We are available online and available prior to the Rally so you can see what is happening before you leave your home to come here. You can actually plan on what you want to do during your stay. In closing - my usual speech. Don’t be draggin’ revving your pipes, cause you’ll get a ticket and free room and board. If you’ve had too much to drink, park your bike and get a taxi home. Or – take “Da Bus.” Think before you drink. Don’t leave your drinks unattended. It’s not the bartenders job to babysit your drinks. Take care of your bartenders and servers. They work real hard to make your vacation unforgettable. Have a safe Rally. Remember – rubber side down, shiny side up.

As we begin our ride, head northwest out of Sturgis stopping at Wylde Hair Saloon in Whitewood, the S.O.B. Bar in St. Onge, The Cowboy Back in Belle Fourche; then ride Hwy 212 West turning through South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. Take time to stop at the Stoneville Saloon before riding to Hulett, then on to old Beulah town in Wyoming. Stopping at the Saloon 333 you'll find you're only half-way to hell, then continue to the Stone House Saloon, and on to the Back Porch and B&B Bar. When your day comes to an end as an old Dakota Territory Rider, tip your glass and say, "Long Live The Dakota Territory Riders, and the Spirits Of Those Who Will Forever Ride With Them." What a ride!
