‘Jazz has a welcoming home in the Middle East’ – Jazz at Lincoln Center Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis

1

Decades ago, way back in the 1930s, New York’s landmark St. Regis hotel saw the city’s elite flooding to its prestigious rooftop ballroom to listen to some of the most legendary jazz artists of all time like Count Basie and Buddy Rich. Then, in 1987, in the same great city, a downbeat summer concert series saw the birth of Jazz at Lincoln Center which has since been paying homage to jazz greats such as Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald while encouraging the best modern day artists and their contemporary sounds. These two creative yet sophisticated brands were in sync and have since joined together to offer a luxury soundtrack of offbeat rhythms and improvised genius around the globe. Starting with Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha. Everything about this intimate 4,500 square foot venue in the heart of West Bay Lagoon is fully bespoke. From the sweeping arched windows overlooking the Arabian Gulf, to the mouthwatering menu items such as the Jazz Doha Jambalaya, and right through to the scheduled musical programmes inviting collaborations between local and international musicians. The team, led by JALC Global Ambassador Dominick Farinacci, fosters a sense of community and understanding through the international language of harmony. 2
